I grew up in a pet store that my family owned and operated in northern New Jersey for 40 years. During that time, I can truly say that I have seen it all – both good and bad – wacky customers, celebrity clientele, the rise and fall of retail and of course, animals of all shapes, sizes and toxicities. My experiences are an endless supply of inspiration for this strip. I like to say that “The Pet Shop” depicts an average day in a not-so-average pet shop – one just like my Dad’s store. I am currently a middle school Science Teacher in New Jersey where I live with my wife and daughter. Always interested in art and animation, I began working on these comic strips many years ago and as I shared them with family and friends, realized that my experiences remain just as funny and relevant to a wide audience today.
