Maya was walking to the birthday party. Amber was so clumsy. She's always trip over nothing and people always bump into her by accident. Maya sighted. The house wasn't far away, but she was hurrying anyway.
Maya got to the house in ten minutes of jogging. She took a minute to compose herself before knocking on the door. She cursed herself for being so lazy. I should really exercise more, she thought to herself as the door opened. The lady at the door smiled at her and introduced herself. “Hi, im Mary.” she shook her hand gently. “Maya.” she said and looked around the woman. “I guess it's your sister you're looking for. Shes right in there.” Mary said and pointed behind her. “Thank you.” Maya answered and hurrie in the direction she was pointing.
Amber was sitting on the floor with a boy beside her. He looked up when Maya came into the room. He looked surprised for some reason. “Maya.” Amber said with tear stained cheeks. “How did this happen?” Maya asked her sister worried. “Someone bumped into me and i him my head on the table.” Amber answered.“You’re bleeding. Let me look at it.”
Maya inspected her sister. She moved to grab her phone in her pocket. She turned on the flashlight. “I’m just gonna look at your eyes okay? Keep them open.” Maya said to her. “Okey.” her sister answered. Maya checked her pupils and when she was satisfied she put her phone away.
“You don't have a concussion but be careful okay?” Maya said sternly to her sister. “Yes, but can I still sleepover with my friend?” Amber asked. Maya could see that her sister would be carefull, and it wasn't a big wound, so she let her stay. “Fine.” Maya said and watched Ambers pout turn into a smile. “Thank you.” she said and hugged her sister. Then she got up and ran to join the other girls.
Maya wasn't aware that Brian was staring at her with an envious look in his face, but the moment she turned to him, he looked away. “Thank you for calling me. My names Maya.” she said. “Brian, and no problem. There was a bit of an awkward pause. “So are you new here?” Brian asked. “Yes. We got here last month.”
“Oh, how old are you?”
“16, you?”
“17.” Brian said. He felt a bit down now that he understood they weren't going to have any classes together. “Nice outfit.” Brian said and laughed when he saw what he was wearing. She looks confused down at her clothes. “Oh yeah, I didn't have time to change.” she said. Her clothes was consisting of sweatpants and a t shirt with ‘HUG DEALER’ on it. “These are my comfy clothes.” she said.
…………….
Maya was now home again. The house was unusually quiet with nobody else home. It was still early in the day, and now she didn't know what she could do. If she stayed at home alone she would be bored the whole day, but if she went out, she could at least see a little bit of the town. Maybe even find a bookshop somewhere.
