Eclipse glared down at the two from a tree above, he thought to himself “ This is my chance to strike. To get him.” He seemed pleased at the thought scowling from the light hitting his face, when he gazed back down they were gone. “Not again” He snapped at himself, hopping down landing gracefully like a leaf. He snickered calmly starting to walk in the direction of the nearest two, knowing they’d be there. There wasn’t anywhere else they could go in such short time “Soon” He told himself “Soon I’ll be immortal and no one will be able to stop me.” A grin rose upon his face.
The months kept passing, the journey slowing down, Rupert and Aiden were running low on money to keep moving on. So they had to stop.
“Why are we stopping?” Rupert questioned his lovers’ decision, a look of curiosity furrowed his brow.
Aiden looked back at him as he was receiving the room key from the receptionist. “We’re low on money, we need to stop and try to regain it to help us keep moving before he finds you.” He said sharply with a firm tone.
Rupert turned his gaze down at his feet, mumbling “Yes, Sir” he quietly followed him to their room. The room wasn’t the best but it was within reason of living conditions.
“This will be our home ‘sweet’ home for as long as it takes to get the money” Aiden sighed and wrapped an arm around Rupert’s shoulders to comfort him. “Don’t worry Love, I won’t let him get you. I promise.” He smiled, placing a soft kiss on his lips before they went to bed.
Months passed and they still hadn’t gotten enough money to pay off their rent to the hotel, Rupert was starting to work more night shifts, Aiden working during the day time. Usually when either of them got ‘home’ the other was either asleep or at work. One night they both decided they needed a little break from all the work and spent some time with one another. Aiden started to gently leave kisses along Rupert’s neck with a grin.
Rupert laughed and lightly pushed him away. “No No, silly” Rupert shook his head and rolled to the other side of the bed yawning. Aiden moved over to Rupert’s side of the bed and wrapped his arms around him resting his chin on his shoulder as he slowly let his eyes shut as he fell into a deep sleep.
Aiden woke up around midnight to see that his lover was no longer in his arms, slowly he became uneasy about his lovers disappearance “ R-Rupert?” He called him in a tired voice, he believed he was in the bathroom so he called once again “Rupert? Are you in here?” he pushed the bathroom door hesitantly and peered inside, seeing nothing but darkness as he flipped on the lights. Aiden cringed from the light and shielded his eyes for a couple minuets. Aiden never heard his lover shout at him to get out of the bathroom when he did that, so he uncovered his eyes and stared to not see him.
Aiden ran out of the hotel room and started to search for him, hours upon hours of searching and he turned nothing up, not a single shred of a clue, was found. Aiden was starting to lose hope, he went back to his hotel room and fell onto the bed his face in a pillow.
An hour or two of crying he finally got back up out of bed and stumbled towards the bathroom when he tripped over something opened on the floor. He looked back and stared as he started to move the carpet and pull the wooden door up, he glanced down into the darkness and grabbed a flashlight before he dropped down into it.
Aiden hit the rocky bottom with a groan of pain to escape from his lips as he gritted his teeth a bit. He slowly got back up and started to dust himself off, as he turned on the flashlight and shined it around squinting his eyes starting to wander around, he felt like he had been wandering around in circles for hours. “How big is this place?” He asked himself with anger, and annoyance. To his disbelief he saw a light at the end of one of the tunnels, he sprinted towards it, he didn’t seem to see the wire that cut right through his leg and made him fall. He let out a shriek of agony, his hands stumbled a bit as he tor some of his shirt off and quickly tried to wrap it before he bled out. He couldn’t get the energy to get up and try to hobble around on one leg, He breathed out a sigh as he closed his eyes, fading into a deep sleep.
Aiden awoke to screams and shouts of pain, cries for his help. He bolted up and face planted into the cage bars.
“A-Aiden!” Rupert cried out for his lovers help, pain surging through his body, the pain from the sharp blood stained knifes, caused Rupert to scream and cry out his lovers’ name over and over begging him for his help. Slowly those cries began to cease as a swift cut of the knife into his heart made it all end for him.
Eclipse let a grin form across his face as he licked the blood from the knife and drank some up from Rupert’s wrist. He moved his head back as the blood trickled down from his grinning lips “Finally...” He said as he looked over at Aiden and sneered at his crying, He wasn’t going to let his mood ruin his victorious achievement, he was in a Haughty mood. “I’m the one thing I’ve always wanted to be. No one can take this from me!” He chuckled darkly as he slowly backed off into the darkness as the sun started to shine down from the top of the cave and down onto Rupert as it turned his body to ash.
Aiden couldn’t find a voice to scream out in despair for the loss of his loved one, his hands were gripping the cage bars so tightly it was turning his knuckles white. “W-What am I to do now without you...?” he asked himself in a tearful voice as he finally let out a pitiful sob, sliding down against the bars now laying on the floor of the cage, not know what to do with himself, what he would do with himself without the love of his life. Aiden breathed in a shaking breath as he closed his eyes tightly, wanting to wake up like it was all just a terrible nightmare, that he was going to wake up any second now and be right beside Rupert, hear his voice again, be able to hold him in his arms once more. He opened his eyes again and stared up at the ceiling of the cage, breaking down into silent sobs again.
Days went by and no one had gone searching for Aiden or Rupert, Aiden’s body lay in the cage having died of starvation and dehydration, Rupert’s ashes lay on the stone table still. Eclipse was never seen again after ‘earning’ his immortality. No one ever heard from Aiden or Rupert ever again.
