Mina and I walk to our first class together. Our first classroom is in the building right of this one we are in.
“That Klein guy is cute. You look good together”, Mina says out of the blue.
“Stop that. You’ve been setting me up with random guys since the first day of summer. I was actually glad you haven’t been doing it for a week.”
“That’s because you’ve been sulking since your breakup with Kean. It’s been a year and you’re still not moving on.”
“Do I need to have a boyfriend to move on? I’m fine being single. A person doesn’t need to be in a relationship to show that she’s moved on. I’m actually giving my heart a little break from romance.”
Mina looked me in the eye. “I don’t think that’s enough to get back at him. You need to show him he’s replaceable.”
I shake my head. “I am not looking for revenge.”
“But aren’t you angry because he cheated on you? He played you like you like a fiddle. He was even wearing the shirt you gave him while doing it.”
“Am I angry? Yes, I still am because he played with my feelings. He should have told me that he no longer love me. I would have let him go.”
We arrive at the classroom’s building. There are four rows of chairs. Each row has eight chairs. Seven of them are already occupied. I sit on the second row along the isle. Mina takes the seat to my left.
“You have to get back at Kean”, Mina said.
“If I date someone just because I want to have my revenge on Kean, it wouldn’t be fair for the guy I’ll be dating. I’ll only be using him and that will hurt his feelings.”
While we are talking, someone comes in. Mina and I stopped our conversation. We’re surprised to see Klein.
“Klein? You’re taking this class, too?” I asked.
He looks at us. “Klein?” He shakes his head. “I’m not Klein. I’m his twin. I’m Klaus.”
“Oh. Didn’t tell me he has a twin brother”, I mutter.
He smiled. “Now you know he does.”
“I didn’t see you earlier when we were stuck in traffic. Where did you come from?”
“I hate riding our car to school. I prefer taking the train or bike to school.”
So that’s why Klein was alone in the car.
“It’s very quiet whenever I ride with Klein. He seldom speaks. He’s always reading a book.”
Mina looks at me with a grin. “I know someone exactly like that.” She points at me. “You could leave Sophia the whole day with a bunch of books and she won’t even notice if you’re gone.”
Klaus giggles. “Yeah. Klein is also like that. The two of them should date. You’re so alike.”
“Shut up. Stop teasing me.”
“But we like the idea. You and him sitting face to face in the library and calling it a date yet none of you are talking to each other because you’re both reading”, says Mina.
“We should set them up!” Klaus bursts with a smile like it’s the greatest idea.
Mina agrees. “That’ perfect!”
“No, it’s not! Stop playing matchmaker! I’m tired of setups!”
“But it’s different this time.” Mina pouts. “This time, you know exactly who your date will be. It’s not just some random guy.”
“Mina, I met the guy literally just a few minutes ago.”
“You also became friends with him a few minutes ago.”
Klaus claps his hands. “That’s settles it then.”
I sigh. This is going to be a long week.
