During one campaign, I had rolled so garbage for stats that I made a Chaotic Evil wizard, as much determined to defeat our party's nemesis as he was hellbent on killing the rest of our party. He was pretty much harmless, having no stat above 8, and was played for laughs. Then one session, right when it was time for his daily inept attempt to kill someone on our team, he finally succeeded, bludgeoning our cleric to death with a soup-spoon. He just stood there, shocked, as the rest of the party freaked out. The noise attracted bandits.
