It’s like watching two kids having a snowball fight, but with rocks. Though, neither of them would get that reference as snow doesn’t exist in their worlds or any of the worlds at all. Well anyway, I guess it’s time to head back home
He’s strong, way stronger than I thought he was. Maybe that’s why the old man wants me to keep watch over him. Orca is a strange kid, he is definitely too innocent for Obcasus. It’s strange, I talk with him like I would with Tsukiko and he doesn’t hold back with his ongoing questions.
“Hey Mochi, how do you tell time here?” He looked at me and I turned to look at him before looking up at the two moons.
“Well by the moons, since the sun always stays on the horizon and it's not as clear as the moons are.” We continued walking as Orca stared up at the two moons.
“So the moon’s placement in the sky tells what time it is while that yellow orb thing, a sun, just stays on the horizon.”
“Yup, since Obcasus is an eternal sunset world or so the old man says. The larger, dark purple moon starts in the northwest then travels to the southwest on a path. If that moon is in the northern part of the sky then it is early morn. The smaller silver moon goes east to west and whether it's more in the north or the south determines what time of the year we are in.”
He stared at the moons then looked at me a bit puzzled.
“It takes time to learn it and practice, so don’t worry too much. I’ll teach you it later” Orca nodded his head as I looked up at the sky.
“Yay! Mochi’s gonna teach me something! Though I feel like I may have the understanding part down.”
I smirked at him but it wasn’t visible under the head scarf.
“Of course you do.” I’ve learned a little about him but what stood out was that he was a quick learner, which surprised me a little. Although he is a bit dense, almost like he hasn’t been around any bad people, or any people for that matter.
“Mochi, I’ve been wondering. What’s your role in your village?” I glanced at him as we continued to walk.
“I’m the chief’s heir basically, since he has no biological children. I do the scouting now mainly after the old man taught me and my job is to learn from the old man what I can and he mainly teaches me how to hone my special ability since he has it as well. And since I’m his heir, I’m expected to take up his role and become the leader of the demon race.” I tilted my body a little towards him and Orca seemed to do the same while staring directly into my eyes.
“Is that why the others move out of your way and stay away from you, or at least that’s what it has looked like since I’ve been here."
“Kinda I guess. It’s just been like that since the old man took us in.” I looked at the horizon and I could see the encampments outline clearly, along with the small oasis we had place it around.
“Now, I have a questions for you.” Orca glanced at me while I took one glance at him then turned back to the horizon. There were a couple of figures walking this way but I couldn’t see them as they were still too far.
“Why were in the desert by yourself?” He didn’t look startled like I expected him to be, he actually looked curious himself.
“Well…..it was the best place to land.”
“What?” I stopped and pulled the cloth over my mouth down as I stared at him while he stopped. “What? That doesn’t make sense, best place to land?!? Everywhere is sand.”
Orca shrugged his shoulders as I stared at him with confusion all over my face. “I don’t know, I’ve never been here before so it looked like a good place to land.”
I was even more confused now and tried to think of another question to ask but couldn’t, he wasn’t making any sense. I put my hands over my face as I took a deep breathe.
“Fine, don’t tell me the truth then. Just keep on telling the lie.” I turned away from him as he started to break into sobs. Great, I made him cry again.
“OI! Michiko!” That’s the old man’s voice. I turned to where the village was and saw him running towards us and there were a few people jogging behind him. So that’s who I saw before.
“Hey, old man.” I looked up at him while taking of the head scarf so that my head was shown. Orca was still sobbing and the old man looked at him then at me.
“You made him cry again.”
“It’s easy to make him cry it seems.” The old man sighed deeply as he covered his face with his hands before the others had caught up to him. There were a total of five people in the group and three I recognized from those that always travel with the old man. I didn’t know one of them as they were new guy but I recognized the woman in the group. A tall female with mint green hair and eyes walked up beside the old man and I smiled up at her.
“Hi Riera! I see you’re here to take the old man to the meeting again!” My tail slightly moved since I did enjoy it when Riera was here, though she is usually here longer. She kneeled down to my level since she was tall, taller than the old man so she would have to bend down to speak to me normally.
“Yes, and you seem to be in good health Michiko. I hope you’re stronger too, I can’t wait to see how well you do in battles ahead.” She smiled down at me but glanced at Orca and raised an eyebrow at him. She looked back at me and then smiled as she patted the top of my head.
“Well, be good while we’re gone.” She stood back up as I smirked up at her.
“But being good just isn’t in my nature.~” I got a chuckle out of her as the old man smirked at me.
“That ‘a girl. Protect the tribe while I’m gone. Oh and keep watch over the brat still.” He ruffled my head as he walked by and they started to head off more before stopping and then they started to shimmer then disintegrated and then suddenly vanished. They had to travel a special way to get to where ever it was they were going, all I knew was that it was in some pocket dimension. Whatever that was.
“I am curious how they do that, it isn’t anything like the old man and I’s teleporting.” I looked back at Orca and he stopped sobbing and was staring at where they group had left from.
“I-If I show you, will you not call me a liar anymore?” Orca wiped away his tears as he took off his head scarf.
“Sure, though I doubt you can-” He grabbed a hold of my arm tightly and I felt my body was being taken apart but I didn’t feel any pain. I watched as instantly my body was breaking apart and then, it was put back together. I stared at the surrounds and I was in dead shock. There was plant life everywhere, and there was this large lake. W-Where am I, there is no oasis like this. The forest had more trees than I’ve seen in my life.
“W-where the hell have you taken me Orca?!” A deep throat roar came from overhead and it hurt my ears so they went flat as I covered my ears. My tail flicked back and forth as I turned around and glared darkly at Orca as I felt my mist flow out of my body.
