First thing to work on: The element of surprise. Charging into battle screaming the words "You're all gonna die today!" was technically not the best way to attack something that didn't know that you were there in the first place. Also, and I know that this may not be the time for this, but the Einzer's that we were fighting were so cute! I want you to just take a moment and imagine this black and purple Gunman with shark-like heads, little T-Rex arms right below the jaw, and two long legs that remind me of backwards kangaroo legs. Oh, and the tail's a ten foot long rotating cannon.
"What part of abusing them did you not understand?!" Viral shouted angrily over the video feed as Enkigann took out two of his swords and sliced away a good handful of Mo-Shogun left and right. I commanded Gurren Lagann, who was reduced to punching and kicking the Gunman like an angry toddler who didn't get the toy he wanted. These Einzer were lightning fast, zipping from one area of the battlefield to another in mere seconds, shooting what felt like pellets at me in a great fury. The Mo-Shogun tried fighting me, but a simple kick to the face it it was pretty much an easy goal scored.
"They're dwindling down!" I exclaimed, tossing yet another Einzer clear over the crater wall. I couldn't help but feel both excitement and a bit down. I mean, we only took Gurren Lagann out of retirement only so that we can fight these...these things! I still have no idea what these things are and where they came-
I was interrupted by the thunderous bellowing of what sounded like a giant snake. I turned the head around to watch the titanic cluster of smoke fluster up to the sky, the source being the top of Dai-Gunzen Mach 2. A jumble of black and purple Mo-Shogun and Einzer flooded out, leaping off the deck of the ship and ground pounding the street below, damaging it even more than it already was. (God dammit! I have to fix that later! DX) I clenched Gurren Lagann's fist, ready to beat the robotic mess out of some more Gunman. The smoke started to clear as another group of unfamiliar Gunman landed on the ground.
When they came into full view, I nearly puked right there in the cockpit. These things were so horrific! I couldn't even look at them directly without feeling a bit sick. These Gunman looked like two black robotic heads unwillingly connected on the sides, their jaws hanging open as they were being gagged with one long robotic arm coming out of each mouth, both clenching a dark purple fist. One leg sprouted out the bottom of each head, two sharp horns poking out the top of them. The left one stared at me with its small orange eyes, the one on the right staring at Enkigann the same way, but with green ones. A whole squad of seven stood before us, eagerly observing and waiting.
"Viral," I asked without taking my eyes off of the disgusting Gunman, "what exactly are those things and what part of hell do we need to send them back to?"
"If I remember correctly, those are Twinboekun: Who heads that work as one." I heard him let out a low growl. "And with two heads means two pilots. Inoichi, this won't be easy. With two of them in there, they'll be able to attack faster."
"So you're telling me that I'm gonna have to actually think before I act now?" I crossed my arms. "Well that's not fun. -_-"
"Do you wanna have fun or do you want to stand a chance against these things?" Enkigann drew out its remaining two long samurai swords, forming two X's in front of him. "Now would be a good time to make use of your Spiral Energy and fight!" Enkigann charged forward into battle.
"Wait! Viral!" I tried calling out to him, but he so engaged in fighting that he didn't hear me. I gritted my teeth as I jumped left to dodge a Twinboekun's oncoming punch. This thing was fast! And it was a lot taller than the Mo-Shogun. The Twinboekun came up to half of Gurren Lagann's height, so they're gonna have an easier time attacking.
"Inoichi, I know that you're all new to this." Yoko stated, popping up on the video feed as we jumped right, dodging another punch from a different Twinboekun. "Spiral Energy was a mystery to me too when I first started learning about it. But I now that you have a strong amount of Spiral Energy inside of you. Simon's soul is inside of you, as well as part of mine. You just have to have the fighting spirit to use it! That's all that Spiral Energy is! It's fighting spirit!"
"Fighting spirit?" Gurren Lagann did a dodge roll to the right this time, making it clear under the Twinboekun's fist as I grabbed a Einzer by its tail and swung it under the Twinboekun's legs. The Gunman fell over, crashing against the ground like a domino.
"Aw yeah!" I shouted out, but my small victory was cut short as the the Twinboekun backflipped back onto its feet. Before I could even react, two Twinboekun sucker punched Gurren Lagann, launching us back into the pile of leveled buildings. I sat Gurren Lagann against the rubble, a bit shaken up as I tried to readjust myself. (The good thing about all of this is that I'm not even wearing a bra in all of this! :D...What? You try going from flat to damn! in ten seconds! I never thought that I would have to buy one, okay? ;-; Don't judge me! DX)
"Dammit!" Yoko shouted. "Inoichi, you stay here!" I heard the cockpit below hiss open.
"What?! Yoko!" I shouted after her, "Where are you going?! You can't just leave me here!"
"I need to go and get something from home!" She shouted back, standing on Gurren Lagann's left knee, about to jump down. "I'm a lot better out side of Gurren Lagann! Don't worry! You can do it!" She hopped down. "I'll be back soon! Just listen out for me!"
The middle cockpit hissed close as I just sat there, mortified. My own grandmother just left me in a fight between life and death. I still didn't understand what it was that I was even doing, and she just leaves me like that?! What was so freaking important at home that she had to leave right now?!
Viral popped up on the video feed. "Did I just watch Yoko leave?" He sounded irritated (and I can't blame him).
"Yeah she did!" I replied enraged. "She said she had to rush home to get something!"
Viral let out a small sigh. "If she's retrieving what I hope she's retrieving, than it may be for the best. Just keep fighting Inoichi!"
"Keep fighting?! Keep fighting?!" I was starting to panic, my breath growing heavier each second. "How can I keep fighting? I could barely pilot Gurren Lagann with Yoko here. I sure as hell am going to fail without her! Viral, I can't do it!"
"Yes you can!" I watched Enkigann effortlessly slice a Twinboekun perfectly in half. "Listen to them Inoichi. These Gunman are laughing at you. No, the Beastmen inside are laughing at you. They doubt that you have the skill to fight! Beastmen don't have the ability to generate Spiral Energy, so they hide behind molded metal suits that fight for them! They only do so because they think you're weak!"
Weak? WEAK?! I gritted my teeth as I pulled my goggles over my eyes. The Twinboekun went in for a punch, but Gurren Lagann quickly grabbed the oncoming fist, clenching hard onto it as I got him to stand up, towering over the Twinboekun. My body started to feel a bit warm, maybe from me being pumped up like this or something else.
"You dare to think I'm weak?!" I shouted out. "They call me Inoichi The Scavenger for a reason! Because I always use what I have and I use it to fight!" Twinboekun tried punching in from the right, but Gurren Lagann caught that attack as well without me even having to turn my head. I place on foot in between Twinboekun's two heads, pressing against it hard, pulling his arms back.
"And you thought you would just waltz right in here without expecting a fight, huh?!" I felt so fired up at this point, so it felt like a good time as ever to say it.
"Just who the hell do you think you are?!"
As soon as those words left my lips, a giant golden drill erupted from Gurren Lagann's heel, piercing through Twinboekun. I couldn't keep myself from smiling! I've heard stories about Gurren Lagann fighting with drills, but it feels awesome to use them! Each drill attack always had a name, so might as well name this one! :D
"Drill Heel!" I heard the drill rev up as I forcefully pushed Twinboekun, Gunman parts flying every which way. I moved his foot back, looking down at the damage that I did. That felt...great! So this is what Spiral Energy is!
"Good job!" Viral praised me over the video feed that appeared again. "Now put that power to use! We'll have them on the run before long!"
"Got it!" the video feed disappeared as I cracked my knuckles and grabbed hold of the handles, a smile stretching across my face. "Let's do this!"
You're learning quite fast. I heard someone say. I could tell that it was a man because it sounded old but comforting, like a narrator.
"What?" I looked around, but it only took me a second before I realized that the voice was in my head. (Sure, I've heard voices in my head before, but usually they're girls.)
Learn how to make the drill, use the drill, and spin on with the drill. Mr. Mystery Voice stated. You still have much to learn.
"Whatever you say mystery voice!" I armed Gurren Lagann with his fist. (Like I said, I'm fine with voices in my head. Welcome to the party Mr. Narrator! :D) "Let's do this!" I shouted out, charging into battle once again.
The Twinboekun didn't seem terrifying anymore now that I somewhat knew what I was doing. From each of Gurren Lagann's fist, two long slender drills appeared along the sides, making it look like I was a giant Wolverine. It was much much easier to punch my way through them!
"Looks like someone getting the hang of it." Viral said with a smug expression on his face. "Would you like to take care of the last Twinboekun?"
I turned my head to target the last Twinboekun standing. It was frantically looking around the graveyard of Gunmen with both pairs of eyes, looking for a way to escape.
"Gladly!" Gurren Lagann charged forward, the drills on the side of his fist spinning rapidly. The Twinboekun tried darting left, but I grabbed it's right head, tossing it into the air and sending my drill right through it. Twinboeken parts scattered everywhere, blanketing the ground with its puzzle pieces.
The drills disappeared as I did my victory pose, Gurren Lagann doing the same. Viral smiled at me through the video feed.
"Well that happened." he stated as Enkigann sheathed his swords. "I saw we clean up what we can and salvage whatever parts we can. I can use them to repair whatever I can around the city."
"The only thing people are gonna salvage," a perky voice shouted out, "is your dead body outta the ground!"
Both Gurren Lagann and Enkigann looked up to see a mysterious figure with two long curved horns coming out the top of his head, behind him a large Silver Gunman that looked a lot more stronger than the one's we've fought.
He smiled wide, baring his pearly white teeth. "Prepare for the stampede!"
