These kids, I swear to the gods of the narrators, if we have gods that is. I don't even want to pay attention to them anymore, but this story must go on! At the current time, they both had matching clothes, and if I wasn't a narrator, I don't think I would've been able to see them!
We had been walking for what had seemed forever. Of course I had questioned her on the weird nickname she gave me, but she was vague as ever about it. The area around us was clear from people as far as I could tell. This is good from what I knew of this mission.
"Hey Mochi! Are we heading back now? This area is clear right?" She studied the landscape carefully before turning back to me.
"Yea, let's head back and report to the Chief. This place is clear. After this I think I should have a small amount of time free from my duties. Lets have a little competition when we get back." She started walking back after surveying the land once more.
We got back to the village safely and she left me in her tent so she could talk to the Chief. Her sister was doing her duties so she wasn't here. Just me alone in the whole tent. I sat for a few moments before getting up and walking around. This was so different from my home back in Noctem. The time alone was something I was used to, but having all these people around was foreign. I was happy to have found a place that has a bit of community. It was definitely better than how the dragons did everything. Sure we had a Dragon Lord who had a small group of noble dragons, but they stayed together to keep the peace. The castle was the only place you would likely see more than 20 dragons together at once. Of course there were little shops, but these were mostly for dragons that wanted knowledge, power, adventure or protection. So there was seldom business. Everyone did there own thing, and if there was a dragon couple, their mate was all they needed in life.
"Hey Orca, come on." Mochi was back and before I had time to register what she was doing, she already had started pulling me away from the village.
"Where are we going?" I started pestering her with questions, none being completely answered. Before I knew it, we had reached a place filled with boulders of all sizes.
"Come on! Let's see how strong you are! I mean something's up with you if the Chief is making you stay with me!" She picked up a pretty large boulder and flung it in my direction.
Did she want me to catch it? Thinking quickly, I caught the boulder and threw it back to her. She looked a bit surprised but caught it with no difficulty. She then smashed the boulder.
"Sure you could catch that, but could you do what I just did and smash that boulder near you with one punch?" She pointed at a boulder and I did as she said and she smirked back at me. She seemed to think a moment before she started doing these random challenges. I completed everything she asked, barely breaking a sweat, still a bit confused about what the purpose was, but having fun.
We both had worn each other out, and we had been here for what was probably hours, the sky unchanging from the eternal sunset gave us no clues to the true time though. We walked slowly back to the village as Mochi finally started talking sentences fully that explained things. I can finally claim Mochi to be my friend, and she seemed to agree. Nothing felt better than this moment, I finally had a friend and maybe my time being alone was finally over.
