Before my very own eyes, behind that counter, seemed to be a man created by god itself, but could as well be easily a trap by the devil. The first few things that went through my head after looking at him were probably his blonde hair, his warm smile, his blue eyes, his tall figure, his muscles and of course, his name tag.
“Oliver,” was all I could say before realizing my big mistake and blushing like crazy. But apparently the universe likes to see me suffer and does not only give Oliver good looks, but also a cheerful and carefree personality, I realized, as he began laughing. “Yes, that's my name! What about you?”
I wondered why it was suddenly so hot in here, or why he actually wanted to start a conversation. With me. And a huge line behind me, slowly starting to get annoyed by my indecisiveness. Though I really didn't care that much. “Diana,” was all I could say again. “It's a nice name. It suits you!” smiling with his breathtaking eyes I just nodded dumbfounded. “About my recommendation, how about our special self-made chocolate coffee with whipped cream?” he said almost sparkling his happiness over to me. I just nodded again, still not finding the right words to say. “Great! Since it'll take a bit, you can already sit down and I'll bring it to your table when it's done, alright?” “U-um, thanks...”
I paid for our drinks and gave an awkward smile, which he gladly returned, before I left to search for Hannah. I found her at a small window table, from which you could clearly see the beginning of the queue, aka. Oliver. Hannah greeted me with a smile which was quickly replaced with a worried look when she saw me slumping into my chair.
“What's wrong?” she asked. “Oliver,” I answered after a short pause. “Oliver? Who's that? And why do you sounds so exhausted...” “Because I am!” I said running a hand through my hair, letting out a sigh. “Ok, you got to tell me what happened with that Oliver right now, you hear me?” Hannah said with a pretty serious tone. I groaned annoyed but explained her what happened just a minute ago.
“Hohohoho, is that so? Looks like my dear Diana has a crush!” she said with a smug expression. I just let out an almost inaudible sound, because my head was laying on our small table out of embarrassment. “But you're right, he was really handsome. Although I don't like his cheerful personality.” She sighed and continued with a soft voice, “you're really a lost cause...”
I felt a gentle pat on my head. “Now, now, get up already, what will you do if Oliver comes with your coffee and sees you like this?” she chuckled. I looked up at her and slowly straightened my body, but rested my head on my hand. I let out another sigh. “Do you think there's a chance that we'll maybe end up together?” I asked myself more than Hannah. “End up with whom?” I heard a familiar voice say.
My whole body stiffened and my eyes widened in shock. I slowly turned around to see a happy, smiling Oliver next to me, a coffee in his hand, which he placed in front of me. “Here, your coffee!” he said while looking at me with those blue eyes I could drown in. “Oh! T-Thanks, Oliver!” I stuttered with my face being a deep crimson color. “Oliver! Hi, I'm Hannah, Diana's friend!” she said as she reached out to shake his hand. “Nice to meet you,” Oliver said still showing his white teeth, “but I have to go back taking orders now! Maybe we'll see each other again some time!”
I watched him go back while sipping on my delicious chocolate coffee with whipped cream.
Yup, definitely the devil. I even forgot that I paid for two coffees.
