I'm not very good at online battles. There's so many stats behind individual Pokemon these days that it's all confusing to me. I just stick to the Pokemon I catch or hatch and just level them.
Anyway, this is a stab at a friend of mine, who mostly played Gen 1 games and doesn't really explore past the 151 Pokemon that he's used to. I mean, he obviously has Pokemon past the original 151, but I like to make fun of him for being a purist. Like, the reason that he has a Noctowl is because it resembles the owl in Zelda: Link's Awakening :D
