So hopefully this can help shed light on cucos and how they...wooork???
Along with an audioclip I...actually made months ago and I kept forgetting to upload. >_>(\ The audio is mix of alligator and snake noises and the snapping jaw sound are actually two higüera halves. Which, fun fact, the shell of the fruit hardens and you can make masks and crafts, which is what I use for my mask-making.
Non-fictional facts:
1-The name comes from the hispanic equivalent of the boogeyman where the song goes "Duérmete niño, duérmete ya, que viene el cuco y te comerá" (sleep child, sleep now, that the cuco is coming and will eat you)
Which is the explanation why "pretend you're asleep" is a recurring theme.
2- The name resembles the word "coco" which means coconut, hence the super durable head joke.
3- Cucubano is Arawakan for a bioluminescent beetle, maybe they don't like getting the names mixed up with fireflies hence their feud who knows.
