"Fiore! Please Fiore, where are you?! Fiore!", desperate shouts escaped the father's lips as he ventured deeper into the forest. Tired and covered in sweat due to working the fields. He looked under every rock, bush, and tree where the rest of the children played until he came close to a cliff. He inched closer, fear engulfed him as he desperately wanted not to look down, but he forced himself. His head tilted down and he opened his eyes, adjusting to the lack of light he saw the dreaded sight. His body ran cold and his stomach turned, he bolted as fast as his feet could. Only one thing occupied his mind as he was cut and stabbed by each branch, "Please, don't let me be too late".
At the bottom of the cliff, Fiore gasped for air. She lay flat facing up and her head was now in a pool of her blood, her tiny back shattered, and her arms and legs useless. She was cold despite being in the middle of summer and the only thing she could hear was her father calling out her name. Her mouth attempted to move to answer back, but only a gasp of air came out. Tears trickled down to the side of her eyes as she saw her vision darken, her eyes losing focus as minutes went by. She was scared of the dark and the light was getting dimmer, she couldn't make out any shapes anymore and the pain slowly faded. Her eyes closed as she drew her last breath.
Darkness, darkness, darkness, Fiore just floated as the warmth engulfed her. She felt like she was being energized from the inside out, the feeling was new but similar to how she saw her mother. A light then hit her eyes. She slowly opened them and began to move towards it however she could. She managed to reach the end and she felt her actual body react.
A violent gasp of air entered her lungs. Her body contorting and cracking, her father could no longer keep his grip on her and Fiore's body plopped on the ground. Her convulsing body flopped on the ground as her father was on his knees. wide eye covered in blood. His eyes darted at his wife who held a lamp, "What's happening to her, Renata!?", he shrieked. Renata only stood still in front of her daughter, emotionless, but still sought to give her husband some ease, "It will be okay, Nyssa. It's almost over". As she spoke, Fiore lay face down, motionless, then, she began to move.
Fiore felt exhausted, but also at ease. She slowly opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was her father covered in blood and tears. He had a heartbroken expression, then laughter as he saw her effortlessly stand up again. Fiore walked towards him and let out a heartfelt cry as she ran to hug her father. He held her tight to feel her still-beating heart and she did the same.
As the moment stayed and passed, Fiore turned to see her mother. She held the same expression she always felt, but the energy around her felt different now, she could feel it more clearly. Renata approached and knelt in front of her daughter. She analyzed each part of her face, she reached out to touch her but hesitated for a second until her hand landed on her cheek. She then drew her daughter closer and gently squeezed her. Fiore was shocked. This was the first time her mother held her, her worries melting away with a single touch. Renta then whispered in the daughter's ear, "You have awakened, and I know not what to do".
A few days passed and Fiore was getting ready to go to the local village schoolhouse, but she still wondered what happened to her. She attempted to ask her mother, but, the only thing said was, "In due time". The only thing both of her parents were discussing was who pushed her off the cliff. Fiore knew to not play near dangerous places. Thus, she was asked what she was doing that day. Fiore explained that she left school with the other children to wait for their fathers who were helping build a house for a new family settling in the village. As she was playing someone brought treats for the children and Fiore went to tell all the children who were too far away. Shen then went further near the forest as she heard rustling, but never entered. She waited in the outskirts but decided to turn back when she heard one of the children call her name, but she suddenly felt something tug at her shirt and say "I know I'm right", as she was dragged. Fiore said she tried to get away but she was lifted and thrown from the cliff, but she never saw their face. Fiore was then told to stay near the children and the work site if she needed to tell her father or the men of anything suspicious. Fiore agreed to do this.
Fiore waited for her father by the door as she watched his goodbye ritual. To her, it always looked like her mother mimicked the women in the village, while her father's expression was genuine. He would always kiss her on the cheek, call her darling, and wait for her to do the same but she called him dearest. As it was done, Fiore and her father were on their way to drop Fiore at the schoolhouse and Nyssa would head off to work.
As they walked, Fiore wanted to ask about what happened to her or why she felt different in her skin, but she doubted he would say anything if her mother was also keeping quiet. They approached the schoolhouse and saw the teacher greeting the students as they went in.
The teacher then looked over to the children arriving. His expression changed briefly as he saw Fiore, but went back to normal as he spoke, "Miss Fiore, we missed you these couple of days, and, you look different somehow, did you change your hair," he said almost flippantly. Fiore smiled, "No, I don't think so, Good Morning", and walked inside.
As she walked in she said goodbye to her father and headed to her classroom, but she looked back briefly and saw that the teacher was talking to her father, but she couldn't hear what, she only saw her father nodding and saying something back.
As she walked inside she saw that everyone was talking among themselves but as she sat down, all eyes were on her. The children questioned who this was, but with closer inspection, they realized, "Fiore is that you", "Wow, you look prettier", and "Where were you, were you sick". As the ruckus spread, the teacher walked in and clapped his hands, "Okay kids that's enough, you can talk more during your lunchtime". The children all instinctively turned, "Yes, Mr. Cade", they all said in unison. "Perfect, now we do have a special guest from a nearby kingdom, please come in".
Mr. Cade gestured to the door and a tall man dressed in all black walked in. His hair was slipped back, his eyes a pale blue that almost seemed white, his skin was so clear it almost seemed fake, and even though no one could deny he was an objective beauty, he gave off a menacing air when he walked into the room.
The tall man walked in and saw the children instinctively scoot back except for one. A little girl no older than seven whose appearance was astonishing, to say the least. The more he stared, the more she began to look more like his late daughter, but as he blinked, she went back to her adorable appearance. He stood in front of the class and cleared his throat, his voice soft and clear, "Good morning everyone, my name is Caleb and I come from the Empire of Time. I am a personal knight under the current Empress and I am here to tell you the story about the great Celestials. But before I do, can anyone here tell me you know the story or any history about it", no one answered, "Okay, has anyone here heard about people who can control the weather, create fire, and even fly", many of the children raised their hands. Caleb smiled, "I see. Many people do have talents and they use them in everyday life, I am here to tell you a story about where these people originally got their power. My empress so happens to be one of the original people in this story and she wishes more people to hear about it since she fears many are forgetting. No Children gather around and I will tell you a tale of family, friendship, heroes, and villains", Caleb said as he smiled. His demeanor was now soft, and the children seemed more relaxed as they approached to sit in front of him. Fiore became intrigued and sat right in front "And now, let us begin".
