"I'm glad you asked. As you know, my name is Arashi Sensi, and I am the ego within this Chinese folding fan. However, before I was bottled up, I was a proud wind goddess. The humans of the time would refer to me as Venti or the Anemoi. I spent the majority of my time being worshiped and prayed to by sailors. If I were in the mood for it, I would even help ships along their way. Or if I was feeling a tad bit irritated that day, I could easily sink a dozen ships. There was one young fellow I adored. He was a human. What was his name again? Um, Odemus, or was it Odetrix." Sensi kept saying names trying to remember the man's name.
"Was it Odysseus?" Thalia guessed. She figured that Sensi's name was Roman. So she was referring to the man of Roman myth. Odysseus was known as the eponymous hero of the poem The Odyssey. Thalia actually paid attention in her history classes because she knew they were closely related to the power of all relics.
"Odysseus, yes, that was that dashing fellow's name. He sure was a looker. He had such strong shoulders, and his abs looked as if they were sculpted from stone. Ugh! The thought of his sun-baked bare chest is almost enough to make this goddess melt....." Sensi's breathing was growing heavier.
"Okay, this is starting to get weird. And a tad bit creepy seeing how you have the voice of a kid." Thalia closes the fan.
"I'm sorry I sometimes get caught up in the thought of him. But the moral of the story is that I am no simple fan. I am the bringer of storm winds. In my prime, I could easily destroy 25 iron ships in a wave of my hand. My power may have diminished a bit over the years, but I am still full of youth." Sensi says in an arrogant tone.
Thalia could feel the power being emitted from the small fan. The Chinese fold fan was humming with energy. Thalia saw an image in her mind of a beautiful young woman dressed in a glittering gold and purple dress. Her dark skin was illuminated by the gold. Thalia could see the woman effortlessly sending strong currents of wind with a flick of the wrist. The wind easily cuts a ship the size of a small monorail train in half, causing it to sink.
Suddenly she was back in the vault holding the folding fan, still a bit dazed. Thalia is honestly shocked she is still in the vault. The images she saw felt so real. She can even still taste the bitter salt of the seawater that was below her feet.
"I told you I am powerful!" Sensi says, giggling. "So now that I have shown you my awesome power. You want to worship me, right?"
Thalia regains a bit of her composure and sighs. "Not a chance I don't worship anyone. Although I will admit your power gives me goosebumps."
"Tehehe, thank you! So will you please take me out of these damp, poorly lit basement? This is no place for a goddess such as myself to be inside." She was trying to hide the desperation in her voice.
Thalia took a second to think to herself. She is in the biggest vault in the world, filled with all kinds of luxurious treasures in the form of powerful relics. It was tempting for her to deny Sensi's request. However, something told Thalia that there was no better fit for her powers and personality than Sensi, the storm goddess. Thalia couldn't help but feel a bit connected to her, considering how related their powers were and their given nicknames.
"Fine," Thalia says, opening Sensi to reveal her complete form and length. "I will take you out of here."
The fan begins to hum and shake. Vibrating so fast, Thalia almost dropped it. The fan started to feel warm inside her hand, and a bright yellow flash blinded her. Thalia covers her eyes to block the light. " I am so glad. I have been waiting for you for such a long time. My master. My friend. My companion. I, Arashi Sensi, proud wind and storm goddess, hereby gift the authority to use my powers. If you accept, we will be forever bonded, our fates forever intertwined. We will be bonded till death do us part. Do you accept my gift and my bond?"
Thalia lowers her hands from her eyes to see Sensi's true form. She wore the same dress in the vision she was shown earlier, and it was still as stunning as ever. For a second, Thalia was at a loss for words. A literal goddess was floating here, offering her power and friendship. The words shot randomly into Thalia's brain, and she knew exactly what to say.
"I, Thalia Diez, do solemnly vow to hold and cherish the bond and commitment we share as master and servant. I will not harm my bond and protect it with my life. I accept your gift and embrace your bond."
The room started shaking, causing the relic cases around her to begin opening and closing. It almost sounded like applause if you listened hard enough. And with a bright yellow flash, Sensi was gone. Thalia could tell something felt different. She felt stronger than usual, almost like someone had injected her with a bunch of energy drinks. She felt her heart beating faster and stronger than usual. The pressure that once crushed Thalia had all but dissipated. Thalia opened her new fan and admired it. From now on, she decided to refer to it as Sensi the Storm fan.
As Thalia opens the storm fan, her mind is suddenly bombarded with information on how to use the storm fan's power. Thalia can now communicate with the wind and turn it into a deadly weapon with the help of the storm fan.
"Thank you, Sensi! Now that we are bonded and our memories are as one, I understand what you mean by you have been waiting. However, now we are together, and I will take you out to feel the wind once more." Thalia whispered as she walked back towards her brother and the vice-captain.
Sensi did not answer this time. However, Thalia felt that she would no longer be able to communicate with Sensi in the usual manner. Instead, she could sense Sensi's feelings of gratitude, and that was enough.
Walking back over to Theo, she notices the new silver necklace hanging around his neck. The closer she got she noticed three charms. One charm is an axe, the other is a shield, and the last is a hammer. She wanted to ask her brother what he had chosen, but Vice-captain Alexander cut in.
"Okay, kiddos, it's time to leave. It's time to meet your new unit." Alexander says, clapping his hands.
