A Few Years After Diane and Kevin Had Kids...
“I’m being brave today!” Diane said proudly as the four of them sat down at the restaurant table and Kevin got Ben a toddler chair.
“Oh really?” Kevin asked, raising an eyebrow. “You sure you can do that today?”
“Of course,” she repeated confidently.
“Order for Coutiere!” called the girl behind the register.
Keven went over and grabbed all their food. A big quesadilla for the toddler Ben and Sophie to split, a burrito bowl for himself, and surprisingly a cheese burrito for Diane.
“Well,” Kevin raised his eyebrows as he put the container with his wife’s food down. “There you go, honey.”
The burrito in the container had been completely drenched in liquid cheese to the point where the food was drowning in it. If there was any more, it would’ve been spilling out of the container. Looking at it made Diane sick.
“You know,” she said, on the verge of a panic attack. “Here you go, Benny.” She slid the cheese-drowned burrito in front of toddler Ben, who happily put his hands in it and started licking cheese off of his fingers.
“What happened to being brave today?” Kevin asked as Diane got up.
“I’m getting a salad,” she said definitively. “I’ll be brave some other day.”
