The teen then shot like a bullet towards the remaining dragon beasts, his fists crackling with power as he threw rapid-fire punches that tore through their flesh like warm butter. He interspersed these attacks with one-handed flame blasts, showering his entire body and the ground with dark blood in the process.
“Crikey! Where the hell did this all come from?!” Jasper cried out in response to the boy’s sudden display of aggressive magic. “So you aren’t a Faeless after all!”
As Mallory continued to decimate the monsters, he seemed to get even more powerful, dashing around so fast that he left a glowing blue electrical trail behind him. The world around him was moving extremely slow by comparison. His senses felt more alive than ever, supercharged beyond normal parameters. He felt amazing!
After another series of punches and kicks and fire blasts, the teen slid to a stop amidst a sea of severed and scorched body parts, the ground saturated in blood. The creatures were all dead. He had done it!
“Yes! Yes!” he pumped his fists in the air excitedly. He then held out his hands and looked at his palms. “This power… It’s incredible! I’m… I’m gonna.. I’m…”
“Mallory?” Jasper ran over to him as he became lightheaded and stumbled backwards. The blue glow vanished as he dropped to the ground, overcome with the worst exhaustion he had ever experienced.
“I… I… What’s that?” he said in a sleepy voice, pointing up at the sky. Jasper and Dublin followed his gaze as they noticed a new hyperjump portal had opened and something large was flying from it towards them. As it got closer, they noticed it was a black and white Siberian Husky the size of a horse, bright green eyes and long wings like a pegasus. Riding on the creature’s back was a man with a dark ponytail and a black trenchcoat, a Katana sheathed at his waist.
“Who are you?” the Australian woman demanded as the new arrivals drew nearer.
“Unc… Uncle Koga? Yasa? What is…What…” Mallory’s voice trailed off as he drifted into unconsciousness…

The Dane House - Portland, Oregon - Sunday (Mid Morning), July 21st, 2024
The following morning, the teen released a sharp gasp as he jumped awake, back in his bed at home. He quickly lifted up his top to check his stomach where the knife had been, and then the slice on his hand. His skin showed no trace of having ever been injured, he was not covered in blood, and he was wearing fresh pajamas. He sighed and dropped his head back down on his pillow.
“Jeez, these nightmares are getting crazy…” he groaned, rubbing his eyes. “I just want things to go back to normal…”
“You’re not the only one, kid,” came a raspy female voice with an American accent.
“Huh?” Mallory shot back up into a sitting position, looking around his room. He was the only one there, besides Skye perched at the foot of his bed, looking at him. “Who said that?”
“Wait, you can understand me now?” the cat said, her mouth suddenly capable of mimicking human speech. The teen’s eyes grew wide in shock. “Oh crap, I… Um… Crap… Um… I mean… Meow?” she finished with a big smile.
“AAAHHH!!!” Mallory screamed out as he quickly slid across the bed away from her, falling off onto the floor.
“AAAHHH!!!” Skye cried out immediately after, stumbling backwards off the other side of the bed.
The screams and two thuds on the floor were heard by Koga, who came rushing into the room. “What happened?”
“What’s going on?!” Mallory demanded as he jumped to his feet.
“I guess he can understand me now,” Skye explained after she hopped back up on the bed, looking at Koga.
“Wait, you knew she could talk?” he turned to his uncle angrily. He then began rubbing his temples. “I’m so confused right now…”
“Damn…” the older man sighed. “I was hoping the seal could be repaired, but it seems it no longer has any effect on you now that you’ve awakened your Soul Gate…”
“My what?” the boy replied, raising his eyebrows.
“We have much to discuss, Mal,” Koga said as he put a hand on the teen’s shoulder.
