“Why is there a garden down here?” She asked, looking up, she could see that they appeared to be in some sort of large underground cavern. She didn’t see any lights, yet somehow this place was not dark, the garden was as green as it could be, with freshly cut grass, beautiful flowers blooming in every colour, and tall ash trees scattered across it.
“Fudge, this is getting weirder and weirder.” Skully grunted, he felt strange, as if he was pulled in many directions. “Crow…”
Ellie walked into the garden, she thought it looked beautiful, there was even a small fountain and a pond. Ellie touched the grass and smelled the flowers, she wondered how they were growing down here. “Could this be magic you think?” She asked Skully, glancing around at everything. “I guess so, how else do you explain this magnificent garden?” He replied.
Then she saw it, a mansion at the end of the garden. “There’s a mansion there…” She mumbled, pointing towards it. “Woah, that’s even weirder.” Skully grunted, he wanted to go back up, away from all this.
Ellie had already started walking towards the mansion, when she stopped for a moment, something felt off. Like it was too easy?
“Didn't Wren say a vampire was supposed to protect this place?” Ellie asked Skully, she looked around, and that uneasy feeling hit her, the same feeling she got from the rose vines. She held on tight to Skully and moved closer to the house.
“There you are! I guessed you might end up here…” Wren giggled as he stepped out from the back.
“I was looking everywhere for you, and that skull. Wait, that was a lie, I just followed you here.” He grinned, twirling the knife between his fingers. “I know I hit you earlier, with the knife. Your blood smelled really tasty.” Wren chuckled, his grin grew wider.
Ellie moved back. “Don’t you fudging touch Ellie.” Skully sneered.
“I guess we are having a party now.” Juliette interjected, she was standing there with her arms folded.
“How pitiful that you are even allowed to walk around.” She told Wren, glaring at him, her face clearly annoyed.
“I could say the same thing to you, Valentine.” He growled as his eyebrows furrowed, and the grip around his knife became very tight.
“Ellie, don’t worry, I’m here.” Artemis yelled as she came running, she was almost out of breath, as she placed herself next to Ellie.
“What a party indeed.” Juliette added, staring at Wren still.
“Fudge this party.” Skully grunted, he wanted out of here, something was not right.
“Ellie, do you think you can make it to the house? I will keep these two busy.” Artemis whispered to Ellie as she was trying to catch her breath.
“I’m so happy that you are ok!” Ellie exclaimed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“I was trying to call Luke, but he’s not answering.” She told Artemis through her tears.
“I know, I tried to call him too. But now you have to run. To the mansion ok?” She whispered, Ellie nodded her head. Artemis winked at Ellie.
“Now that you’re both here, how about a little fire show.” Artemis announced, producing fire from both her hands.
“Again?” Wren chuckled dryly, keeping an eye on Ellie and Skully.
Ellie dashed towards the mansion, her breathing was strained, her heart kept pounding away in her chest. She stumbled over a rock sticking out from the grass, and fell to the ground, still holding onto Skully.
“Get up, we gotta go.” He told her.
“Ugh.” She pushed herself up from the ground, removing the jacket as she got up and started running again. She could hear them fighting behind her, she didn’t dare look back, only forwards. She saw the mansion getting closer and closer. She passed by the little pond and a patch of roses. Ellie frantically ran until she stumbled again, over a branch this time, but someone caught her before she fell. She looked straight into Wren’s green eyes, he grinned as he plunged one of his devilish knives straight into her heart, Ellie’s eyes widened, the pain shot through her. She dropped Skully and fell straight down on the grass.
“Ellie! Get up! You need to get up! I will take over your body for a while! How about that? Get your fudging hands off me Wren.” Skully shouted as Wren lifted him up, she could hear him, but she couldn’t see him. Her eyes could only see stars, it was as if she was floating through space, she tried reaching out to catch the stars, they seemed so near.
“Ellie!” Skully called out.
“Oops, I think I got the heart.” Wren chuckled, lifting Skully up in front of him.
“And I will take you back to the council.” He grinned at Skully.
“Fudge you! I- I-“ Skully didn’t know what to say, he felt broken, like the world had ended. He couldn’t have stabbed her in the heart could he? If Skully could he would have cried right there. He saw Ellie lying there on the ground, her dress stained red, the grass stained red. Her eyes were closed, she looked peaceful.
“No, it doesn’t fudging end like this does it?” Skully cried out.
Wren giggled. “Why do you care about silly mortals? It’s not like you ever cared before.” He gazed at Skully in disgust and disbelief.
Skully felt himself being pulled in every direction again, something strange was going on, something was happening to his body. -The rose vines? He wondered as he could feel the sea of darkness underneath.
