Jun helped her to sit on the edge of the bed, and once she was settled down, he turned away to grab something from the cabinet across from where she was sitting. She stared at him dazedly, and that was when she felt something stir in her mind. It was like a tiny door had opened and someone had invaded her inner space.
[Su Yi: System, are you back?] It was unknown to her why she knew it was the system that had entered her mind space, but the familiar feeling coming from the presence was enough to confirm her speculations. [So you've taken up residence inside my head, huh?] she lightly joked, and a smile played on her lips.
Despite her body feeling weak, her heart was warm. Something was reassuring about the man - even if he was only code and data, instead of a being with flesh and bones. Thinking deeper, something clicked, and she shifted her gaze over to the guy still looking for something in the cabinet.
[Jun: Is there something wrong?] As a system that was attached to Su Yi's consciousness, he knew how she was feeling 24/7, and just then he had been startled by her mood abruptly changing. [Does it hurt somewhere?]
Everything hurts, was what she wanted to reply to him, but her mind was currently preoccupied with something else, and she didn't dare ask him anything regarding it. She continued to stare at Jun's back.
When she had first heard Jun speak, she hadn't paid attention because of the injuries flaring up and leaving her all muddled. So when she heard the system speak, she couldn't help but think of the sound of Jun's voice. They were so similar. Why was that?
Her speculations became even harder to understand when the system materialised beside her on the bed and she saw the similarities in the appearance of both men. This is seriously freaky...
[System, are you...] she began to ask, but then decided against speaking her thoughts. Right now, it wasn't important if the system and Jun were the same... well, it was, but she had more troubling things to worry about at the moment, like how she was going to extract the soul fragment.
[What is it?] the system moved closer to her on the bed and peered questioningly at her. [Is there something bothering you?]
[I...]
"Su Yi," a concerned voice interrupted her inner conversation with the system. A cool hand touched her forehead to check her temp. "Mm, your fever has gone down. That's good. You should be fine to move today, after all."
"Move? Move where?"
"..." Jun hesitated for a moment, as he was unsure how to answer the question. Just a moment ago, he had thought about waiting for Su Yi to get better before having her move into the apartment that his family had brought him. However, after the uninvited person had made her presence known just now, he now thought it would best to have her moved now. So, in that way, he could take care of her better, and wouldn't be interrupted by any unnecessary people.
"A few miles from here, I have an apartment that I hardly go to. To be honest, I was waiting until I finished schooling before permanently living there," he started to explain. He pulled a suitcase out of the cabinet and gently set it down beside her on the bed. "It's up to you if you want to agree or not, but with the way things are at home, I thought it would be better for you to live there."
The system beside Su Yi looked at the guy before them with a baffled expression. This wasn't how he remembered things happening... actually, this event hadn't happened at all.
Yes, his parents had gifted him an apartment for when he graduated, but he hadn't offered for Su Yi to stay there. Truthfully, he and Su Yi weren't even that close at this point. So, why did it seem like these two had known each other for a long time and were inseparable?
Then, he noticed a flickering above his past self's head. And soon, an empty box that looked like the dialogue boxes you would find in games solidified above Jun's head, and a line of text was being typed out.
At that moment, the system figured out why things differed from what he had remembered... this Jun was this world's capture target.

Affection level???
It seemed like a lot of things this time around differed from what he knew. Since when did they have an affection level, and what did it have to do with the extraction of the soul fragment?
