“Don’t ask me why but you have to take my hand right now.” Ellie stated, her voice was full of determination as she reached her hand out to Skully.
“This better not be one of your dumb ideas.” Skully remarked, grasping her hand.
“I… hope not too.” Ellie smiled, she reached out and grabbed her reflection’s hand.
Skully’s eyes widened as he watched Ellie.
Ellie’s reflection pulled them both into the dark sea, pulling them deep down, it seemed an endless abyss. The reflection looked back at them, a black fire formed in its hand, the fire grew larger and larger until it engulfed the whole sea. They saw the bright light pouring through as the sea of darkness slowly dissolved, burning away in the black fire. Ellie’s reflection let go and disappeared into the fire. Ellie and Skully glanced at each other before the light surrounded them, the fire faded away and with an intense white flash they were out of there.
Ellie got up with a jolt, she had been lying on the ground. She glanced around, Skully was right next to her. She picked him up. “That was crazy! We made it through! We did it.” She cheered, throwing Skully up in the air.
“Woah, no throwing, we’ve talked about this…” Skully grumbled.
Ellie laughed, she felt such a sense of relief.
“That was not bad though, I fudging told you that you could do it.” He remarked, not wanting to sound too enthusiastic.
“Let’s go find that crypt now.” Ellie announced, she glanced around. Feels like someone is watching us? Is it the vine demon? Ellie wondered as she studied the map again.
“Oh, that was not enough adventure for you? One sarcophagus not enough for one night?” Skully jested, he felt concerned, could it have been that easy?
Ellie followed the instructions, they walked for a while, through the dark empty cobblestone streets, until they reached an empty plot, overgrown with a single tree growing on it. She walked over to the tree.
“This seems to be it. Now there should be a stone somewhere around here.” Ellie told Skully, she searched around the tree.
“To your left.” Skully yelled.
Ellie looked to her left, a big stone, barely visible, hidden by the overgrown grass.
She strained to push it aside. “Ugh, this thing is way too heavy, how am I even going to move this.” Ellie groaned, she sat down next to the stone, breathing heavily.
“Hey, why don’t you just pop into my body and push it away? You said you could beat up a vampire in my body so why not move a big rock?” Ellie grinned, hoping somehow Skully would agree.
“It doesn’t work like that, it only happens when you’re in danger. And I don’t see any fudging danger right now.” Skully grumbled, he knew she would end up pulling this card one day.
“Maybe that’s ‘cause you haven’t tried yet? I mean we haven’t really tried it at all… Please, just try it once.” Ellie begged Skully, pouting her lips at him.
“Ugh, fine, whatever, as long as you stop begging me.” Skully muttered.
Ellie's face lit up and she jumped up on her two feet.
She held Skully in front of her. “Ok, do your thing.” She told him. He was not sure about this at all. This is probably not something we should be messing around with. He thought to himself.
“Hee-hee.” They abruptly heard a voice chuckling from behind the tree.
“How amusing… so that’s how it works, sounds neat!” Wren chuckled as he stepped out, twirling a tiny knife between his fingers.
“Fudge, it’s this guy! You might get your wish after all.” Skully remarked to Ellie.
She stepped back, almost tripping on the big rock.
“What do you want?” She asked, her lips trembled slightly, she felt the familiar knot at the pit of her stomach.
“It’s quite simple really, like I told you last time, I just want the skull.” He smirked, still twirling the knife around, glaring at both of them.
“And why my dear brother do you insist on calling me ‘this guy’… I feel hurt.” He frowned and chuckled.
“The only one that’s going to make you feel hurt here is me.” Luke sneered as he stepped out of the shadows, a small fire was burning at the palm of his hand.
Ellie’s eyes widened, she was not expecting to see Luke, had he followed them again?
“Fudge, now this guy too.” Skully grunted.
“Luke! What are you doing here?” Ellie asked, as she held onto Skully even more tightly.
“Just step back Ellie, even better if you run the hell back home. Why are you going out in the middle of the night, knowing full well that this vampire is after Skully?” Luke shouted, his eyes never left Wren.
Ellie stepped back even more, she turned and ran, she ran across the street, passed all the houses. She stopped. Streets of cobblestone shimmering in the moonlight, in front of her the large manor seemed to be illuminated fully by the moon.
Her eyes felt wet, she wiped her face, one drop rolled down onto Skully’s head.
She stared at the manor, she stepped over the fallen gate and went up to the door.
“What the fudge are we doing here?” Skully asked Ellie.
“I… I don’t know. Somehow we just ended up here when I ran…” Ellie muttered, she glanced down at her own shoes, took a breath, and knocked the door firmly.
