Drops of darkness, slowly dripping down into the sea, until it consumes everything, and all that is left behind is a sound, a whispering sound of many voices.
“Someone like you should not be allowed to live.”
“Death is the only option for you.”
“Don’t you see? You bring darkness with you wherever you go.”
“You will curse us all!”
“Crow… “
“Will you wait for me?”
Skully realised he was in Ellie’s room, back in the skull. He quickly glanced around the darkened room, seeing Ellie on her bed, sleeping. He let out a sigh of relief. Wondering what those voices just now were… Memories? Skully didn’t want to know right now, he was worried about something, he was worried about what Artemis had told him, and he was worried about telling Ellie everything.
Ellie sat up on her bed. “What happened?” She exclaimed, panickedly looking around the room, she saw Skully and smiled.
“You’re ok! I’m ok. How?” She felt bewildered, the same feeling as that day. She had that strange dream again, where she had been locked in a dark cage inside her own body. Seeing events unfold in front of her, unable to move or say anything, she could only watch.
Ellie lifted Skully from the shelf. “How did we get away from the vampire?” She asked, putting Skully down on her lap.
“Fudge. I didn’t really wanna tell you this. But it looks like it’s time.” Skully sighed.
“It’s happened a couple of times before, when you’ve been in really bad trouble…” He continued. Ellie felt a knot in her stomach, what was he going to tell her?
“I kinda jump into your body and take control of it for a while. I totally beat that guy's ass earlier. It happened at the manor and at the first crypt as well.” Skully explained. Ellie’s eyes became bigger.
“Wow, like a body swap thing? It’s actually kinda cool.” Ellie exclaimed, her whole face grinning.
“Except we don’t swap bodies, I think? I just take control over yours, so it’s more like a possession? Whatever the fudge you wanna call it.” Skully grumbled.
“Awesome anyway.” Ellie squealed, throwing Skully up in the air.
“Woah there. Not awesome. Anyway, I found out something from the vampire. His name is Wren and apparently he’s my fudging brother. I guess we don’t have a great relationship since he wants me gone.” Skully told Ellie.
She patted the skull. “Aww, I’m sorry.” Ellie sympathised, her eyes looked teary.
“Whatever, I don’t even remember him, don’t sweat it. But I bet he knows where my body is!” Skully declared, disgruntled by Ellie for getting sad on his account.
“Oh, wow! That is a big lead!” Ellie cheered, more excited than ever.
She glanced down at her phone. “Juliette tried to call me!” She blurted out. “And she left me a voice message.” Ellie’s finger trembled as she pressed it.
“Ugh, great, she’s gonna give you the job right?” Skully grunted.
She listened intently to the message, her eyes widening. She stared at Skully.
“Yeah, she actually did. She wants me to come tomorrow, she said she will handle everything with my old job and I just have to show up. Wow. I’m pretty impressed.” Ellie beamed, falling back on the bed.
“What are we gonna do about your brother though?” She asked Skully.
“I have no fudging idea. I think I need to talk to Artemis again, she seemed to know something. But I kinda went out of your body so I didn’t catch everything she said.” Skully admitted.
Ellie yawned and turned to her side. “Good night Skully, let’s figure this out tomorrow.” She mumbled under her breath before falling asleep.
“Ugh, let’s fudging hope that guy stays away.” Skully whispered, he didn’t mean that, he wanted him to come, he wanted to know.
“If anyone knows it’s him.” Skully mumbled to himself, the neon lights peeking through the window changed from purple to cyan, Ellie’s face lit up as she slept.
Ellie didn’t waste much time in the morning, she was heading for the Valentine Tower, she felt somewhat important, she wore a white button up shirt.
“I’m ready for the day!” She chirped, giving Skully a kiss on the forehead. “I’ll leave you with Artemis and Luke for today.” Ellie remarked as she placed Skully on the coffee table, leaving a note on top of his head.
“Hey. No notes on me! Why do I have to stay here?” Skully grunted.
Ellie giggled. “You’ll be fine, they can both hear you so you have people to talk to. They don’t seem to be up yet, which is why the note is on your head.” Ellie explained, picking up a slice of bread and running out the door.
“See you later!” She yelled at Skully.
“Ugh. Why? What if I get stuck with Luke?” Skully grumbled while he noticed Luke’s room door opening.
