"I'm serious though Lauren! It'll ruin your whole schedule." He argued and followed her closely.
"I'll survive. Don't worry. Now move!" She yelled and pushed past him.
Alex chuckled quietly and made sure she was completely gone before grabbing some of his stuff and putting it in his car before locking up. He grabbed the keys from the hook near her door and locked it before leaving for his car.
After about fifteen minutes, he arrived at his destination. Lauren had told him the address of the store where they always bought books for themselves and he parked his car and exited it quickly. He grabbed his bag and made his way inside the store. Lauren hadn't gotten here yet and it was still fairly quiet. The place wasn't busy yet either but it wasn't empty either. He looked around trying to figure out where the cashier was and he spotted her working behind the counter.
Alex approached her desk and smiled at her, "Hi. Hi. Hey." He greeted her awkwardly as she didn't respond.
"Hey! Good Morning to you too. What can I help you with?" She responded cheerfully.
He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Can you please give me the book that has the same author as the author of 'The Man Who Was Born Beautiful'?" He asked her and she wrote something in a notebook before she answered, "Yes, sir. I can give you that one." She said smiling at him.
Alex nodded his head and thanked her before making his way to his car.
When he reached the car he realized that Lauren wasn't there anymore so he unlocked his car and sat in the driver seat. His mind wandered and he wondered why Lauren wasn't there, he figured she must've been stuck in traffic or something because he was waiting for around 15 minutes now. After a moment or two, his phone rang and when he looked at the display he noticed that it was Lauren who called him. He pressed the answer button and answered the call.
"Where are you? Did you miss me?" He asked teasingly as she answered by rolling her eyes at him playfully.
"Yeah I'm in front of the Starbucks. Where are you?" She questioned and Alex groaned in frustration because he knew his sister would never understand that it wasn't funny to tease him. And no, he hasn't missed her. Because the second he saw her standing in front of the Starbucks he forgot how stupid he was when he asked her to go shopping together. And that was before he got the text message and told him that she was hurt badly and needed immediate attention and they had to meet up immediately. But now, after hearing her voice, he forgot all about that fact.
"At the Starbucks, babe. Why?" He asked, ignoring her previous question.
"Because I am hungry. Come pick me up. I've waited for 30 minutes and you haven't shown up and it's almost lunchtime. So please hurry." She said annoyedly.
Alex chuckled. He couldn't deny her anything. "Alright. I'm heading over in a sec." He promised her and he was about to hang up the phone but, "Wait! Do you need a ride back home too? Your mom is kind of a wreck right now and she needs someone to talk to." She asked.
Alex chuckled. "Yeah I know. I'll see you in a bit okay? Have fun in class." He said as he hung up the phone.
He quickly drove over to Lauren's school and he noticed a group of people surrounding something outside the entrance and as he parked his car, the crowd parted slightly allowing him to see what
