Chapter 3.
When it became clear that Nile wasn't getting back on his feet, the guard carried him away from the noise and bright lights, into a cool hall filled with beds.
He only snarled a little, when the guard placed him on a bed and took off his shoes and jeans.
The man chuckled and chucked Nile gently under the chin. "Do you want me to stay?"
Nile peered up at the guard, really looking at him for the first time. He was perhaps in his late twenties or early thirties. Like most Syre, he was handsome, if a bit on the brawny side.
"Top off." He muttered and braced himself for more pain.
"You're going to regret that." The man said, tone warm with humor. "Fei don't do well alone. Especially the new ones."
.....
Nile must have drifted off, because now he heard the muffled sounds of someone crying. Several someone's.
He shifted and groaned as aches spread over him. It took an embarassing amount of effort to push up on his side and look around.
The hall was dark, but he could just make out that the beds were filled. The Fei had paired up, two or three boys crammed into one bed. Some were kissing and moving around. Weak things seeking comfort.
Nile seemed to be the only one lying alone...
Tears prickled in his eyes and he settled back down, pulling a flimsy duvet over himself and ignoring the hunger gnawing in his stomach. His blasting nose started to run and he sniffled as quietly as possible.
A body thumped down next to him and he startled.
"I knew you awake." A familiar voice spoke.
Nile frantically wiped his eyes and twisted around to glare up at the topping Fei from earlier. The boy's shit-eating grin was clearly visible in the dim light.
"I don't eat anything. Is your fault. Come on!"
The boy grabbed Nile's arm and pulled him roughly off the bed. His legs nearly gave out and he stumbled a few steps.
"Stop!" Nile hissed, not wanting to call any attention to himself. He didn't want anyone to know he was being manhandled by a Fei! He managed to tear himself loose and sagged against the wall.
"They zap you good, huh?" A hand patted his back lightly.
"Get off me, you topper." Nile grit, the pain was worse now and his knees wouldn't stop shaking.
The boy snorted indelicately. "How about you ask nice?"
"Blast off!" Nile pushed back from the wall, intending to storm back to his bed.
His vision swam and he found himself clinging to the boy's shoulders. He was an inch or two shorter than Nile and it made his shoulder perfect to lean on. The boy grunted beneath his weight, but quickly straightened, finding his balance.
"Come on." The boy huffed and pulled Nile into a corridor.
A guard stopped them immediately and ordered them back inside.
"Please, Syre! We hungry!" The boy wailed right into Nile's ear and began sniffling dramatically.
The guard actually stepped back, looking uncomfortable. "Protocol does not permit-"
"Look at him! He so hungry, he practical dead!" The boy sobbed and shook Nile, nearly making him fall over. He had to brace his hands against his knees and wait for the world to stop spinning.
Nile felt hands on him and once again he was being carried by a Syre. If this pain didn't kill him, humiliation would.
He found himself on a white leather couch, being covered up with a blanket. A moment later the guard pressed a wrap into his trembling hands and set two bottles of water on a low table.
"Move over." The boy demanded, elbowing Nile and squeezing in next to him, stealing a large chunk of the blanket.
Nile was too spent to be annoyed and he nibbled the wrap half-heartedly - it was turkey and salad - he thought he had lost his appetite when he got dizzy earlier, but now his stomach growled insistently. He hadn't eaten anything since yesterday. It already seemed a lifetime ago.
So much had happened...
Nile pushed the unpleasant thoughts away and finished the wrap in a few large bites.
"Here." The boy passed Nile a water bottle and he chugged it down.
Hydrated and fed, he felt marginally better and he sighed, letting his head fall back against the couch. He heard a door shut and noticed they were alone in what looked like a luxurious break-room.
"I don't think we allowed here." The boy sniggered with his mouth full. "Canteen probably closed."
Shut up and get away from me...Nile considered saying it out loud, but instead he found himself asking the boy's name.
"Cirres, what yours?" The boy finished chewing and Nile listened as he noisily guzzled water.
"Nile." He whispered.
"Nile, you owe me. Everyone scared of me now." Cirres sounded disgruntled.
The boy felt very good against him, warm and sturdy. He smelled of sweat, but Nile probably did too.
"I don't care." Nile mumbled, sleep settling over him like a heavy blanket.
.....
Voices woke him and Nile squinted up at harsh electric lights. A heavy body was partially lying on him, head resting on his chest. Nile blinked rapidly and stared at a mop of chestnut colored hair.
"They hadn't eaten and one was sick." An uncertain voice was saying.
Nile turned towards the voices and noticed two Syre. His shoulders instantly went tight and his belly clenched with shame. He tried to remind himself that he was only a Fei to them, and it wasn't unusual for Fei to be caught cuddling. The thought shouldn't have been reassuring.
"After lights out. They. Don't. Leave." The older Syre's tones were clipped and hard. The younger one bent his head and apologised profusely.
It was embarassing to watch the man grovel. Didn't he have any pride?
Not that Nile was one to judge...not anymore. He used to have a home, friends, family and a future. Now look at him. His mouth curled bitterly in self-disgust.
He heard a soft snore and frowned down at Cirres. The boy's lashes were dark on his freckled cheeks and his hair was longer than was fashionable. He wasn't unpleasant to look at, but he wasn't someone Nile would have picked out of a line-up either.
He was too tall for one and he seemed rough around the edges, punctuated by the nasty looking black eye and bruised cheek - probably the result of Nile's fists yesterday. His mouth was nice though; pouty and pink, like a girl's.
"Get up." The older Syre barked, making Nile jolt.
Fury filled him and an insult was on the tip of his tongue, but he brutally beat it down. He didn't want to be blast again. Scowling, he shook Cirres' shoulder and the boy stirred, moaning.
"Wha yu wan?" Cirres lifted his head and moved far too close, bumping their foreheads together, breathing as loud as a child woken up from a nap. This close, Nile noticed a ring of amber in his dark eyes.
The Syre actually growled and bodily lifted Cirres off Nile, making the boy yelp with surprise.
Nile took his time getting to his feet and saw a nerve flutter beneath the man's eye, as if he was struggling to contain his emotions. But he was a Syre, so he would manage it, naturally.
The guard grabbed Nile and Cirres by the back of their shirts and pushed them out the door. They moved through a maze of sterile corridors, until they came upon a large group of Fei, standing around a female Syre. She paused mid-sentence and raised a platinum brow at the guard.
"Just a few drifters." The guard explained, shoving the boys forward. "Please continue."
The woman nodded, watching Nile and Cirres with a faint frown.
"We'll start from the beginning." she said clearly. "You'll wake up at six each morning and shower here. Your uniforms are laid out for you and there will be breakfast in the dining hall at seven. You will follow the schedule that was outlined yesterday and your first lesson begins in room A15. Changes may occur, depending on your results, but you'll always be informed. Does anyone have any questions?"
The boys were all silent, apart from their ever-present shuffling and twitching. Nile didn't know the schedule - he had basically missed all of yesterdays introduction - but he wasn't about to ask and bring attention to himself again. He would like to remain as hidden as possible and hopefully he would get out of here soon.
They all filed into an industrial looking shower-room and Nile undressed quickly, dropping his clothes on the floor. He moved toward the nearest shower head. It wasn't up to his usual standards, but he would endure it to be clean.
A hand gripped his arm and a bolt slammed through him, as if he'd been struck by lightning. His knees buckled and a hand fisted in his hair, yanking his head back.
"Pick up your clothes." The Syre ordered, frosty eyes boring into him.
Nile swallowed thickly and tasted blood. He'd bitten through his tongue.
"Yes, Syre." He rasped and staggered to his feet.
He managed to fold his clothes with trembling hands and set them on a shelf, where the other boys were placing theirs.
"Name?" The female demanded and Nile looked at her warily.
"Nile Thoran Ledje." He answered reluctantly.
Her clear eyes seemed to widen, before she looked away. He was clearly dismissed.
He looked at the showers and groaned. They were all taken now, but Cirres had secured one. Blast it.
Nile approached the boy on unsteady legs. Cirres had forced Nile to go along with his scheme last night and used him to secure a meal. Now it was time for him to return the favor.
Nile shouldered Cirres aside and stood under the spray, making the boy turn on him with a fierce glare.
"That rude, Nile! You grow up in barn?" Cirres jabbed Nile's ribs with an elbow, making him gasp and stumble against the wall. Hands steadied him instantly. "Ah no. Too rough?"
Nile's skin felt raw and sensitive from the blast and he was suddenly breathing too fast, blinking back tears.
"Hey..." Cirres' touch was surprisingly gentle as he turned Nile and enveloped him in a hug. "Is ok." The boy whispered in his ear.
Cirres was stronger than he looked and his shoulders were broader than Nile's. He really did feel good to lean on. Warm and steady.
Nile found himself nuzzling the boy's neck and he felt a hand caress his buttock, then squeeze it firmly.
"Want to fuck?" Cirres murmured in his ear.
Nile stiffened and started to pull away, but Cirres held him fast.
"Or not?" Cirres laughed and kissed Nile's jaw, then pushed him firmly back against the damp wall.
Nile cast a frantic look towards the Fei beside them, relaxing some when he saw several boys entwined beneath the water. This was normal. For a Fei.
Cirres touched his cheek, drawing Nile's attention back, and kissed him. Nile froze. He had never kissed a Fei before. Who knew where their mouths had been!
But Cirres' tongue was gliding in and stroking the inside of Nile's mouth. The boy was pressed against him, hip and chests touching, and Nile felt overwhelmed.
He tentatively extended his own tongue and rubbed it gently against Cirres'. He had only kissed one Syre before, a female, but it hadn't felt anything like this. He could feel his heart quicken and a sound escaped him when their tongues slid together.
A hand fisted in his hair and the kiss suddenly turned hard, biting. Nile's head thumped back against the wall and he dug his nails into Cirres' back. He couldn't remember ever feeling this excited!
A caress to his swelling cock made him gasp and arch into the touch - and then Cirres was pressing Nile's palm against hard flesh. His fingers closed around silken heat.
He had never bothered to pleasure a Fei, it wasn't expected, but now he worked his hand in tandem with the strokes on his cock.
The sensations built quickly. Sharp and hot. He couldn't think. Didn't care about anything except the throb in his groin.
He tasted water, salt and blood from his own tongue. His skin tightened all over, and he came hard, ripping his head back to cry out.
He bucked his hips several times and relaxed, slumping back against the wall. He didn't notice that he had released the boy's shaft, until he felt warmth spurt onto his hip.
Cirres had one hand braced against the wall, beside Nile's head, and his other hand was wrapped around his softening prick. He breathed hard, color high on his cheeks and his pink mouth was swollen.
Their eyes met and Cirres leaned in to kiss Nile softly, fingertips idly tracing the seed on his hip.
"Next time, I fuck you, ok?" The boy breathed against his lips.
Nile wanted to lick the water droplets from Cirres' throat and suck a mark into his skin. Instead, he shoved the boy away and forced a glare onto his face.
A Syre could take a Fei, of-course, but the other way around was unthinkable. Another Syre might get the honor, but never a Fei!
Cirres laughed and shook his head. His eyes still looked heavy-lidded and sleepy, but Nile was beginning to think they were just like that. "Or you fuck me? Both are good."
Nile felt his expression slip to reflect his shock. Could Cirres be misplaced, like Nile? Because he'd never known a Fei to act like this!
He knew he should put an end to this now. Punch the boy in his stupid face and remind him who his betters were!
He had actually lifted his hand to do it, but instead he found himself touching those pretty lips; smoothing over the softness with his thumb. Cirres' dark eyes twinkled and he sucked the digit into his warm mouth, tongue sliding over it. Nile watched, transfixed.
"Time's up!" The Syre called out and the water abruptly stopped.
Cirres spat out Nile's thumb to shout. "We not done yet!"
Several other Fei protested and guards quickly rounded them up. Nile found himself averting his eyes.
Watching a Fei be disciplined never used to bother him - it was just an everyday occurrence - but that was before he knew what it was like...
He didn't allow himself to think about it too much - or why he wrapped an arm around Cirres afterwards and helped the boy to a bench.
