It had been a few weeks since the Hybrid Alpha was assigned to the beautiful Omega but there wasn't much progress regarding the relationship between the two. The Omega tried to get the Alpha to talk to him, sputtering out useless questions about anything all in hopes that he would hear the Alpha speak again, but it was for naught. The Alpha was confused by the Omega and slightly amazed, but from what he witnessed with the other Omegas and Betas, the Betas didn't socialize with the Omegas, so he kept quiet.
Soon the urge to remain silent waned and the Alpha found himself responding to the Omega's pointless questions. Most of which, the Alpha did not understand and therefore could not answer. It didn't matter to the Omega though, he seemed content with just someone to talk to. And when he wasn't pestering the Alpha with questions, he was talking about himself and the life he used to live before he was attacked.
The Omega had been at the facility for a year now but the Betas were still unable to impregnate him. Recently they had stopped trying, which seemed a little suspicious to the Omega, but he was happy that there was one less pain that he had to deal with so the suspicion was long forgotten.
Through the months that passed, the Omega and Alpha grew closer. So close that the Alpha started to look forward to his shifts. It was strange for him, whenever he laid eyes on the Omega, his stomach clenched and heart fluttered. It was a sensation that was foreign to him and while it made him a little sick, there was a part of him, a strong part, which loved that feeling. It helped him get through the toughest of training and most excruciating torture. Whenever the Alpha felt like he might break, the Omega's smiling face popped into his head and suddenly, he had the strength to endure.
A bond grew between the Alpha and the Omega. They were each other's strength and will to continue. They were each other's reason for enduring and anchor when it became too much. The Alpha often held the Omega when the beatings were too much, and the Omega in return, nurtured the Alpha when injected with drugs that had terrible side effects. It was a relationship that was strong for so long, until Lady Amanda caught wind of it.
After training with Lady Amanda, the Alpha was preparing to head to the Omega's cell when he was stopped.
"I heard you've been getting close to our dear Asaiya," Lady Amanda said to him.
The Alpha's chest tightened uncomfortably. It was a feeling he wasn't used to. It was heavy, painful, and caused his hands to tremble.
"Yes," the Alpha responded, unable to lie.
"That's good, it makes this easier."
The Alpha was a little surprised. He didn't expect her to be pleased that he was getting close to the Omega. She was always displeased when she discovered the Betas getting too close to the other Omegas.
"You are to knot him immediately."
The Alpha froze.
He thought of how many times the Omega cried whenever he was to be knotted by the other Betas. He thought of the nightmares that he had to calm the Omega down after. He thought about all of the trauma and how much it would destroy the Omega.
He thought about how much he didn't want to hurt him.
"No."
Lady Amanda raised a brow in shock. "Excuse me?"
"I cannot," the Alpha said clearly. He would not hurt the one person that makes him feel. He didn't want that feeling that he liked so much to go away, not until he knew what it was.
"You do not disobey me. You will knot him."
"I cannot," he repeated.
"Borris!" Lady Amanda shouted in rage. The head of Disciplines approached us. He was the worst of the torturers.
"Yes, Lady Amanda?" Borris asked in a deep, gruff voice.
"Christos needs to be reminded how to follow orders. Take him away."
"Yes, Lady Amanda."
As the Alpha was dragged away, he couldn't help, but smile in satisfaction.
He had saved the Omega.
Chapter Seven
I couldn't stop reliving the pain and agony I endured. For the first year of my capture, the beatings, the injections, the knottings. They played in my mind over and over again until I just couldn't take it anymore.
Then I opened my eyes.
Riley, a dark skinned Omega who was also held captive at the facility, was sleeping beside me. As soon as I sat up, his glowing blue eyes opened.
"You're okay," he whispered, voice still hoarse from sleep.
"What happened?" I asked, my own voice croaking.
Riley sat up and rubbed his eyes before gazing down at his lap sadly. "You were screaming. Alpha Kai had to force submission. You've been out for almost two weeks."
My eyes widened. I looked down at my hand and noticed the IV attached to my wrist. Almost immediately, my hands went to my bulging stomach.
"Your pups are okay. Alpha Talon just came in to check on them."
Tears started to well in my eyes as I remembered why I was in the predicament in the first place.
"Where is Christos?"
"I heard Alpha Kai say he's been taken to the Medical Facility."
That was all the information I needed. I ripped the IV out of my wrist, and struggled to my feet. My body was still a little weak, so I grabbed a few snacks from the kitchen and hurried out of the hideout, straight to the Medical Facility.
I was prepared to search every room for him but before I could, I bumped into Sherry who was doing his rounds.
"Asa! You're awake!"
"Where's Christos? Is he okay? Please tell me he's okay," I cried.
"Calm down, he's fine. He's healing quickly. Follow me and I will take you to his room."
I hurried after Sherry. Well waddled would be more accurate. When we reached a door, Sherry pushed it open. I pushed past him and nearly ran to the bed.
"Christos," I breathed.
His eyes were closed and his face was badly beaten. His entire body was covered in bandages but Sherry assured me that the bandages looked much worse than what they actually were. He said that Christos was healing at an inhuman rate and was mostly just sore and sick from the quick recovery which is why they still have him admitted.
The heart monitor beeped steadily, echoing in the room, but reassuring me that Christos was indeed alive.
I pulled up a chair next to his bed and held his hand. It was so big and warm. I sighed in relief. That was a good sign.
"Okay, I'll be back. Christos just went to sleep an hour ago so be careful not to wake him up. He needs his rest to recover. I'm going to go check up on Drew."
My head whipped around. "Drew? What's wrong with Drew?"
Sherry's eyes darkened sadly. "Kai went feral and attacked Drew and Rexell. Drew has some severe injuries but they are healing. Rexell got away with just a concussion."
"Why?" I cried.
Hasn't Drew been through enough? Why does this stuff keep happening to him? He doesn't deserve it!
"I'm coming to the conclusion that the absence of Drew when he was taken to the facility, has done some austere psychological damage to Kai. His blackouts are just getting worse."
"I want to see Drew," I said. I squeezed Christos's hand once before getting up and following Sherry to Drew's room down the hall.
It was terrible. I almost threw up at the sight of Drew hooked up to all of those machines. His pups were in a glass crib right next to his bed and Kai right beside him, holding his hand and looking like death. There were dark purple bruises under his eyes that were so dark, they didn't even look green. His normally dark golden skin was pale. His cheeks were hollowed. He looked almost as bad as Drew did.
When we approached, he looked away from his mate and up at us. His eyes traveled over Sherry to me. "You're up," he said.
I nodded, then looked at my best friend with bandages around his neck and chest.
"How is he?"
Kai winced, his jaw clenched in pain.
"He's fine. He'll be good as new. It will just take a little bit," Sherry reassured. Not just for my benefit but clearly for Kai's too.
I wanted to be mad at the Alpha but from the way he looked, he's torturing himself enough for the both of us.
"Get better soon, Drew," I whispered to my best friend, before leaving the room and returning to Christos's side. Sherry brought me some food a little while after which I happily devoured. My stomach was so big now, I was sure the pups were going to be big, strong, and healthy. I already picked out the names I think would suit them best.
Maria, Monica, Llewlyn, and Knox for the Omegas. And Cristian, for my little Alpha. Named after his Papa.
*
I don't know when I fell asleep, but I awoke to the gentle caresses through my hair. I blinked my eyes open.
Christos was up, running his fingers through my hair softly. The scratches on his face were mostly healed and one of the bandages on his head had been removed. He was looking much better than when I first saw him. Was that even possible?
"How long have I been asleep?"
"A couple of hours," he said softly. His deep voice echoing in the hospital room sending shivers down my spine.
"Christos," I breathed, pulling him in for a soft kiss.
He was hesitant, as always, but I forced him deeper into it.
"I'm so happy that you're okay. I was so worried," I started as we pulled away, my voice quivering as the tears threatened to resurface again.
"I'm sorry. I did not mean to upset you."
"Stop it," I said. "Don't apologize. Not for that."
He remained silent.
"Why wouldn't you fight back?" I asked.
"I do not have the right to fight for what is not mine. You are Asher's and Asher is yours. I am not a part of that equation. I do not wish to make anything any more difficult than I already have."
"Stop it! Stop saying that! I'm yours okay? It's your pups inside me! It's your hands that hold my heart! Yours!"
Christos's bright red eyes widened in shock.
"Do you mean that?" he whispered.
I nodded, blinking back tears. "I do. There is still a part of me that is angry with you. There is a part of me that still feels the bitter betrayal, but there is another part that yearns for you. I love you Christos. I have for a long time. I just didn't want to admit it. Not when I had Asher. But I can't stop it anymore. I can't fight it."
Christos tilted his head back, staring up at the ceiling. Two streams of tears slipped off the cliff of his high cheekbones, and flowed down to his strong chin.
I grabbed his hand and squeezed it before gripping his face and brushing away his tears. The look in his eyes made my chest tighten. I loved this man. After so much pain, so much anger, so much hate.
I loved Christos.
