The game is a prequel to the first The Owl House game. So, it is set a couple of years before the events of the first game.
Synopsis: The game takes place several years before the events of the first The Owl House game. Eda and Lilith's origin in the Boiling Isles, and their journey with the emperor's coven, watch out for Emperor Belos, and the how Eda went to the human realm, and the origins of King. Gameplay: The Owl House 0 is a 3D action-adventure game played from a third-person view. The game mechanics are the same as they were in The Owl House 5 and The Owl House Extreme. The player plays as Eda and Lilith and can switch between them at any point of the game. In 2P co-op, one player is Eda, and the other player is Lilith. Both of their abilities are the same as they were in the previous games. And the game has humor.

- This is the first game in the series to be developed by Square Enix Europe.
- This will be the last The Owl House game to be published by Microsoft Studios.
- Some cutscenes are pre-rendered CGI while others use in-game cutscenes.
- The Xbox Series X/S port has 4K support and 120 FPS support.
- The game has a Smart Delivery feature where if you insert the Xbox One version into the Xbox Series X, you'll get the new-gen upgrade for free.
- Both the Xbox One and Xbox Series versions will utilize the Impulse Triggers.
- The game can either be purchased as a stand-alone game, or part of a repackaged bundle on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S called The Owl House Enhanced Collection.
- The game is rated T for Teen by the ESRB for blood, crude humor, fantasy violence, mild language, and tobacco reference.
