Fallen from grace, the angel does not know the path it must travel to raise again into the Heavens. Likewise, humans tend to stray from their path, not knowing where they need to go, they wander around, day and night, in hope to find, somehow, a path. Unbeknownst to them, sometimes, the path that they think is the right one turns out to be one that will lead them to misfortune.
The three friends have come from different backgrounds but, sometime in history, their fates intertwined, and because of that fateful encounter, they are bound to walk together until they figure out if the path they had chosen was the right one or the wrong one.
Yu Na headed back into her room to change from the clothes that were long drenched in water. She held tightly the cold clothes, after she had changed, falling back on thoughts. Thinking back on the first discussion she had with Yeong-hwan, she realized how much she had changed. At first, she wanted to know why she was here, but was unable to figure it out. She was scared, there was no way to know when the guards would find her out, then, when it seemed like they stopped, she had figured out that her time was limited and only then did she realize she had feelings for Yeong-hwan. Now, she was eager to find out the truth, even if it was scary, even if she could be in danger.
The Palace was the place where everything started for Yu Na. She began her journey there, so it must hold many answers that she would want to know, and now, it seemed like both of the boys had ties with the Palace. Not knowing when your life could be over is terrifying, but hiding day and night and being scared to confront the present was even terrifying.
After Yu Na had changed, she returned to where the boys were waiting for her. Standing on the floor of the porch. Yeong-hwan had also changed from his clothes and Hyun-woo seemed to be in deep talk with his friend. Yu Na sat next to Yeong-hwan, sighing as she sat down.
‘I’m sorry I took some time to come back. I’m ready to answer if you have any questions.’ Yu Na spoke softly, looking to the ground
Yeong-hwan leaned back. ‘I had informed Hyun-woo that you do not remember many things, so don’t force yourself too much.’
‘That is right. Everything you want to share would be great.’ continued Hyun-woo
It seemed like he had calmed down, and now he was genuine in wanting to know the girl much better. For a moment, Yu Na felt guilty. She had lied to him, and he did not even show any grudge towards her. For some time, he helped her make small jewelry after she had said that it would be amazing if she had known to do something simple, and she even managed to have some money from the selling of those jewelry he helped her create. So, without a doubt, she felt guilty because he did her best to be friendly with her. Maybe it was because he did not want to make his friend sad, but he never treated Yu Na badly.
Not knowing many things about life in the past, Yu Na had no other way than to reveal the life of hers that she knew, and to tell it in a way to fit the narrative of this past.
‘I’ll keep it short, as there are many things that are a blur to me. I am the first daughter of a common family. There wasn’t anything in particular about me, nothing to say that stood out. My parents did their best to raise me and my little brother, but things were hard, with money… and all that stuff. I have always had a passion for singing, but it’s not something that my parents would approve of, so I think I worked very hard and managed to secure a position inside the Palace. I don’t remember how I got there… the only memory is the one from when… I had to run away and now I keep hearing how everything was a set-up and it only makes me wonder… what did I do wrong to deserve this kind of set-up…’ after telling the last line, Yu Na felt anxious, and only when Yeong-hwan held her hand did she breathe in relief.
Thinking back to her real life, Yu Na remembered that there were many times where she struggled. She was born when her parents were still young, both were only 22, and so, they did not have much money to raise her how they would have wanted. Because of that, they struggled for a long time and knew how to cherish the hard-earned money. Only when things got better, when Yu Na was 9 years old, her little brother was born. Unlike her, he was born sick, and because of that, her parents focused mainly on his health.
It took years until her brother had regained his health, and when it happened, her parents struggled in debt. Yu Na was 14 at that time and, like any other kid at that age, she had dreams, and with those dreams, she was eager to become a singer. Many people complimented her voice and that gave her courage to sing, but her parents did not approve of the path she wanted to walk on.
Without support, Yu Na still did not give up, and, a year later, she left her home, dropped out of school and moved to the biggest city in the country where she started training to become an idol. That path was also one full of hardship, and for many times she wanted to give up, but it was too late to do that: she had turned her back to her family, she had dropped out of school, there was no way she could go back. So, she had to endure. Even after she debuted in Roseleen she had struggles, but, with a bit of luck, she overcame it. After repaying the debts she had, she would give almost all her money to her little brother, the only one she remained in touch with and helped over the years.
The story she had told the boys wasn’t completely a lie, she was sure that, like her, Yu Na from the past also had struggles of her own and, for sure, she struggled to get a position in the Palace. The least she could do, after taking the body of an innocent girl, was to help her find out who set her up.
As if fate brought the three together, it seemed like they would have to go through some obstacles together until all of them found the reasons they were alive now.
‘I seem like you also had a fair share of struggles and I’m sure it must be so frustrating because you have no idea who set you up, but you must be aware that you, me and Yeong-hwan, all of us can lose our lifes in this battle. I can be fine with losing my life, but could you think the same? Me and Yeong-hwan both lost someone important to us, so a bit of danger would not scare us, but you were wronged and now you have the chance to live safely, we could give you a place to hide, if you want.’ Hyun-woo spoke softly
Yu Na shook her head. ‘I want to find out the truth, I want to stay by Yeong-hwan’s side, by your side, I want to repay you all, even if it cost me my life. I am prepared.’
Hyun-woo sighed as he heard this response. It seemed like it brought him memories, and only now did he think that Ji-woo gave him a similar answer before she lost her life.
‘I have heard something similar before, and to be honest, the result was scary.’ Hyun-woo continued.
