Chapter 8: Getting To Know You
P.O.V. CHANGE - Oliver
He carried Evan to his house from their meeting point. He laid Evan onto his couch, hearing his light and peaceful breathing. He never imagined Evan looking like this. In his mind, he always thought he would look different, but he was supposedly wrong. He scanned Evan's body, looking at all of the bandages and bruises he had on himself. He wondered what Evan has been going through. He sighed, sitting on the couch next to Evan. He wondered when Evan would be waking up. It has been a few minutes since he fainted, but he thought he would wake up by now. He got up from the couch, thinking of what to do while Evan was sleeping.
He went into the kitchen trying to think back to what Evan's favorite food was. He was thinking hard about it when he had an idea of what to make. He quickly got the ingredients for the meal and started to make it.
After a few hours, he was finally done with the meal he made. A few months in advance, Evan told him about what his favorite food was, so he decided to make a cake. Recently, Evan has been babbling about his obsession with sweets and pastries. Oliver can’t relate to him, though, because he usually likes spicy foods. That tingle in the mouth when he eats them really has him addicted! As he was getting the table ready, he heard a groan from the living room. He walked over to the living room, seeing Evan up and holding his head.
“You alright, Evan?” He went up to him and crouched to make eye contact with him.
“I- yeah, I guess I’m okay. I'm so sorry for troubling you with all of this when we just met, I-” He went on, but mumbling. Oliver couldn’t make out the rest of what he said.
He saw that Evan's eyes started to fill with tears, so he hugged him, trying to calm him down.
“It's okay Evan, you didn’t trouble me at all. You got overwhelmed and that's fine.” He stepped back from the hug, looking Evan in the eyes.
“Anyways, come on, I made your favorite food!” Both of their eyes gleamed with a smile from ear to ear on their faces.
That seemed to have made Evan delighted, because he raced to the kitchen looking for it. Evan saw the cake that was on the table on the kitchen counter. Oliver didn’t know what flavor to make, because he never specified, but he decided to make red velvet cake. As he was walking towards the kitchen, He saw Evan gorging on the cake faster than he had ever seen. He smiled, knowing that he made something that Evan liked. He wondered if he could make this again as a present.
“Oliver, you know you didn’t have to do this. I don’t need anything from you.” Evan said with a sorrowful voice.
“It's okay, Evan. I did it because I wanted to do it for you.” He said with a high tone.
Evan’s heart skipped a beat when he heard those words. He was staring at Oliver for a good minute before glancing at the clock on the wall. He is going to be in deep trouble when he gets home.
