Admiring the building, the guards started to move toward our carriage.
They opened the gate after confirming our identities, allowing us to move inside.
"How nostalgic, it's been almost 4 years since I've come back here." Mother breathed.
"That long already?" Hayla responded.
"Since I had to take care of this troublesome Levn." Mother replied while stroking my hair.
"Looking at Levn, I don't think you had to take care of him though." Hayla snorted.
"He's an early bloomer isn't he? Unlike that certain someone." Mother sneered.
"Hey! That isn't fair comparing my past to the current Levn." Hayla flustered.
Just what happened between them in the past?
"Hihiin!" The horses sounded as the carriage stopped.
"Well then," Hayla opened the carriage door and stepped down. "Here Levn." Giving her hand to me.
"Tell me Hayla, why is this place that you supposed to call laboratory looks like it was made for a grand purpose?" I asked
"Eh, That? Uh... it's because..." Hayla tilted her head trying to answer my question. looks like my question is too complicated.
"All of the kingdom around the world measured researcher highly and that is probably the reason why. Without us, their technologies won't be this far advanced after all." A stranger interrupted.
He waved at us and continued. "Long time no see ma'am Kaera. Have you been well?" bowing slightly.
"Oh, If it isn't Finn. I'm doing well, thank you for asking." Mother smiled and moved my shoulder to him. "Here meet my little cutie."
The man suddenly gave me a hard look. No, that's not it. The look was toward my hair.
Is it because of my dissimilar hair colour?
He mumbled. "That hair..." Immediately cutting his breath, He crouched and greets me. "Don't you surprisingly looks like your mother? I'm your mother's colleague. You can call me Finn. What about yours?"
I hid behind my mother leg unintentionally.
"It seems like he doesn't like you Finn." Hayla laughed.
"Oh? Levn sure do have a childish side of him when I least expected it." Mother confused.
Holding my hand. "It's okay Levn, It's not like he's going to eat you. Here, greet professor Finn. An old colleague of mine."
Huh? Weird... I totally didn't mean to avoid him.
Ahh.. I remember it now clearly.
Did I really forgot the fact that I'm still the same loser as ever?
The person who has always rejecting people who reach out to him just because he has that little trauma of him.
And people tend to avoid him due to that reason.
Averting my gaze, I look downward.
"Well it's okay ma'am, it's normal for kids to be shy at first. So, what is his name?"
"Levn, Levn Cromwell." Mother replied.
"What a wonderful name. Did you pick it yourself?"
"Ah..." Mother flustered by the question "Actually—"
"I think it's about time we enter the lab, you haven't greet the others yet right?" Hayla interrupted the conversation.
"That isn't wrong, well then." Mother smiled wryly.
We began to walk on the brick path placed between the garden.
Then I noticed Hayla whispered something to the man.
Why do I feel fishy air around them.
Suspicious... Well, it's not something I should poke my nose in.
The huge building entrance opened, and I can see lots of people with the same white coat in the hall.
The room was filled with many strange items. And every each of them was putted behind a glass box.
Looking at every detail, I saw an item that resemble a gun.
I wonder what comes out of it when it shot.
"Woah..." I let out a small gasp after seeing a three stunning marble statue being presented in a way of those greek god's sculpture.
Every three of them seems to have an appearance of a beautiful girl... No a beautiful woman would be more appropriate.
I wonder who they are.
Without noticing, everyone in the room was directing their eye toward me.
Those eyes... they look very familiar...
"I bet Kim never has hang out with anybody, what a loser."
"Won't he gets lonely being alone all the time?"
"A total freak, why he bother living."
Those eyes look exactly like the people at my school.
Suddenly, the people cheered. "Ma'am Kaera!"
"Haha... I missed all this energy." Mother sighed in a nostalgic way.
"I thought you were not going to come here again!"
"Welcome back Ma'am!"
"Oh my, We have been blessed by the holy spirits!"
Multiply exchanges can be heard inside the building hall.
They weren't staring at me... ?
Looking toward my mother, she was having trouble trying to exchange words with multiply conversation at the same time.
I sure did underestimate my mother. It seems like she's a great role model here.
After a while, a member suddenly asked "Oh? Is that kid your child ma'am?"
She seems to be a teenager. Probably between 16 to 18 years old.
"Mhm? Ah, yes." Mother replied.
"He looks exactly like you!"
"I don't think so, more like a boy version of her."
"He's still adorable no matter which it is."
Ah, are they talking about me?
Is the attention being directed towards me?
My body is tensing up.
I'm still anxious of people staring at me.
No, it's okay. they only think of me as an innocent kid.
Calm down.
"Heyy~ what's your name?" The group of teenager girl asked me.
Please don't talk to me.
Can someone drag me out from this?
Looking at my mom just to see her smiling face, implying, (This is a chance for him to learn talking to people.) sort of thought.
Getting flustered I let out. "Um— I-it's Levn..."
"Levn? What a cute name!"
Ah, I just talked.
It was surprisingly not that hard.
Haha... It feels like the fear I felt not too long ago was a joke.
Just what exactly I was so afraid of?
Every corner of my depressing view abruptly changed.
Everything appeared to be more colourful.
I am not afraid of people's gaze anymore.
I can see people faces more clearly now.
Every each of them has a relaxing air around them while talking to each other.
A warming feeling.
I've totally forgotten about this sort of feeling.
"Excuse me, Hate to break the sincere greetings but ma'am Kaera here has other matter that she has to get done, you see." A man in a suit interrupted.
"Then, I'll see you all later. Ah, and I leave Levn in your care Hayla." Mother said and left us with the person escorting her.
"Where is mother going?" I asked Hayla.
"She is going to have meeting with the higher ups. It's okay, because your big sis is here so you don't have to cry, okay?" Hayla boasted.
Not like I was going to cry or anything... this damned woman.
But still, I can't get my sight off from that three statue.
With their skin getting exposed by the weak sun light, it's making they look majestic.
"Hm? Could it be, you are interested in those?" Hayla noticed my gaze.
"Are they some past legends or something? They don't look particular like a human."
"Those are the Holy Spirits. Of course they aren't a human." Hayla giggled.
"Holy Spirits?"
"Mhm." Hayla nodded.
From here, I can see people clasping their hand standing before the statue.
It seems like they tend to worship the holy spirits statue.
It would be hilarious if they were only a made-up tales of the past.
"Alright it's about time we go to my work lab." Halya hold my hand and led me.
Checking out almost everything that entered my sight as we were walking at the hallway, I immediately saw a window after we turned at the right corner.
I looked through the window and saw a sudden massive balloons on the outside.
They look exactly like those blimps aircraft. The only difference this one has is, it carried a huge long ship instead of a huge long metal.
I asked Hayla straight away. "Look Hayla, those gigantic thing... What is it?"
"That? It's a 14th model of an airship that is designed to be powered by fis." Hayla answered.
"How does it works exactly?"
"I only know a little about them. The huge balloon contained gas filled rubber bags, enough to bear the ship weight. And they are powered by fis engines. Also, if they succeed on developing this, it will be the first thing through the history to be able to travel in the vast sky! Though, it doesn't seem like it will succeed anytime soon."
That was a well done explaination, but I don't think that's the right way you explain things to a 4 years old boy.
But still, this place is filled with Interesting stuffs.
I wonder how it feels riding one of those.
The design looks like it will not seal the upper body so the high atmosphere wind probably can be felt through my skin.
I would love to have a chance riding them, at least once.
Arriving at Hayla work lab, a man welcomed us "You arrived just in the right time, Hayla." while busying himself with testing something.
It was the man that greeted me earlier at the garden outside.
"Have you figured it out Finn?" Hayla asked the man.
"Yeah, I've figured the causes of our previous mistake. Come look at this."
Getting near to the lab bench, Hayla hold on the telescope-looking and squinted her eyes on the glass spot.
I wonder what's the item purposes.
"Woah, you totally get rid of the blurry effect! How did you manage to do it?" Hayla blurted.
"Hehe~" The man smirked. "To be honest I was also confused at first, but after checking it for multiply times, I found out that there's noting wrong with the mechanism rather we actually need to put a certain small amount of fis energy for it to work properly, so I putted a Fis-limitation tool inside and this was the result I got."
"Ohh, I get it now. The fis energy we pour was too high so it distorted the image and caused the image to blurry."
I wonder what they are talking about.
I thought of that while getting near them to take a good look.
"Oh? Kaera's kid was here as well? I didn't notice him." The man surprised.
"Yeah, sister Kaera asked me to take care of him for a while."
"He looks like he wanted join in."
"Do you want to try it out?" The man called me out. "Here." He invited me to sit on the chair.
Quietly, I climbed onto the chair and stand on it.
He repositioned the telescope-looking. "Okay, put your left eye on the small glass circle."
Doing as he said, I putted my left eye on the spot.
Then I can see the view outside.
It works just like a telescope huh... eh?
Suddenly, the view changed from outside to the top of the building.
It abruptly changed again and now I can see the man face.
He smiled at waved at me.
"Woah." I blurted, being amazed by the mechanism.
Just what the hell was that?
"How did you do that?" I asked in confusion.
"I would love to explain but I don't think a 4 years old can manage to understand the concept."
He can think more rationally than Hayla it seems.
"I think the boy can understand a little. He learn really fast apparently. He's an early bloomer you see." Hayla insisted.
Or Hayla is just good at observing people.
Yeah, I'm the dumb one here.
"Really? If you say so."
Then he began explaining the mechanism one by one to me in a very detailed way.
After he finished explaining, the conclusion I got is, It seems like this item called Fis-scope has a purpose exactly like a telescope. To see the things far away than the human eye can see.
In the inside, it has a tool that can reflect a small amount of fis energy.
As you peek at the glass, you will see a 360° image on where the fis is being directed at.
You can also change the view location by controlling your fis direction slightly.
"But considering that you have to pour fis to make it works. Why did the tool worked when I can't use fis?"
"Did you notice that your previous view changed for no any particular reasons? That is because I was the one pouring the fis and controlled your view as I will."
"Oh..." I breathed, showing an understanding.
"You're right Hayla... This kid does learn quick to the point I'm getting creeped." Finn confirmed.
"I told you. He's my nephew after all." Hayla bragged.
"Tell me, Hayla. It seems that I can't use even an inch of a fis energy. Why is that?" I asked.
"You didn't know? Kid starts to manifest their fis veins at the age of 7." Hayla replied.
Does she really think a 4 years old know everything?
But still, I wanted to be able to use fis as soon as possible.
Maybe I can have a luck awakening earlier than usual.
You never know unless you tried.
Repeating Hayla's words over and over in my head, I tried picturing the using of fis inside my veins.
After a while, nothing came out.
It won't work huh. Well I should just wait until I reach seven years old.
That's going to be a long time...what a pain—
Suddenly, My body felt like something pierced through every inch of it.
"Ouch!" I groaned.
"Hey! What happened? Are you okay Levn?" Hayla panicking and hurried come to me.
"What was that..." I breathed heavily. "Ah, don't worry Hayla, I just felt an ache. But it's fine now, I think."
"Are you sure?" Hayla confused.
Going back to where she were, she began to talk with Finn.
"What happened?" Finn asked in confusion.
"No idea, he said it was an ache but it's probably nothing major." Hayla shrugged.
"Hey... didn't you notice anything weird?"
"What do you mean?"
"This will probably sounds absurd but for a moment, I sensed a little fis energy being letted out by Kaera's kid just now."
"Now that you mention it, I felt it too. I thought I was imagining things."
Looking at me, Hayla asked me. "Levn, what did you just do earlier?"
Then Finn walked toward me while making a serious face. "Did you tried extracting something from your body earlier?"
Huh?
It looks like I'm about to get scolded. Did I do something wrong?
I was just trying to confirm whether I can use fis or not...
...Don't tell me, it's forbidden if kids attempted to use fis before reaching 7 years old?
If it's forbidden then that means...
They will imprisoned me somewhere for being a potential threat to the world?!
Eek- I want to live a longer life please have mercy!
Wait no, maybe they will spare me if I act like an innocent kid.
Also, Hayla would take my side since she think of me as a family.
For now I should act dumb and admit it like a normal kid.
Completely preparing for the worst, "Yes..." I nodded while trying my best making an innocent face.
All of sudden, their eye widened.
Hayla and Finn glanced at each other with an amused face.
Hayla turn her face to me and said. "Levn, do you have any idea what you are?"
Oh no... Did my act not work?
"No... ?" I replied.
"You are a genius!" both of them suddenly exclaimed.
