As I walked, I followed the long slew of various chimes and bells as I walked through all sorts of neighbourhoods, a lot of the buildings were in the style I was used to seeing about London where the upper floors were apartments, but the ground floor was a shopfront or small café or restaurant. I saw an entire warehouse that had been converted into a massive bookstore. I saw all sorts of places, there was a large open lot where the building had been removed and replaced with this nearly sky touching tree covered in those tiny homes and things that went all the way from the middle of the tree’s height all the way up towards the canopy with large floating crystal around the tree where other houses were mounted onto the large crystals. I saw small parks where the majority of the park was occupied by a statue taller than the surrounding buildings or fountains that you could do Olympic laps in. I saw…all sorts of interesting people too: there were dryads, Dullahan, elves, dwarves, all sorts of fairies, giants, gnomes, pretty sure I saw a handful of incubus and succubus too…and a leprechaun along with naiads, nymphs, all sorts of people that I think may have been ghosts, spriggan, sirens, vampires, werewolves and other lycanthropes, centaur, harpies, merfolk, and triton galore. As I was walking, I heard heavy footsteps and paused as a maybe three metre or taller figure walked past, an extremely curvaceous woman, but from the neck up instead of human was a very large cow head and she had a cow’s tail and legs…a minotaur. There was a man I saw with huge butterfly like wings, but more moth like with how his wings looked fuzzy as did the swirly antennae that stood off his head. There were cyclopes, ghouls, gargoyles, goblins, gorgons, and everything you could think of, and I am pretty sure I saw a mummy.
There was a part of me that…felt like I was walking through the world’s largest amusement park, everywhere I looked were new people, all sorts of new and beautifully strange things and styles of buildings, but before long down the road before me…at the far end of a very large plaza, a huge building stood: maybe a few hundred metres wide and a handful of floors, maybe four or even five floors along the sides with the centre being a few floors higher with a large softly glowing clockface near the top. Flanking the building were these huge looking galleries, covered in vibrant neon of every possible colour and shade as modern art filled the huge glass fronts. The plaza was filled with softly glowing strange tone bamboo and various coloured art fixtures and a massive fountain with a surface adorned in glowing amber water lilies. There were tall metal streetlamps along the corners of the large L shaped planters flanking the fountain and marking the edges of the street with trios of large white glass spheres that glowed a bright and vibrant icy blue colour. Like the other day, despite the fact it’s not even noon…the sky above was an intense wash of night. It was like seeing the photos of space over a city during a blackout, where all of the stars and bodies of space are visible in their vibrant colours and impossibly strange way of moving in intense swirls, spirals, and curves across the sky in all directions as far as the way could see.
The building at the back was made of huge dark masonry slabs, the entire front of the building were these sweeping floor to ceiling thick glass windows held in what looked like iron bracing, the front door a double-wide pair of glass windows with a wave shaped purple tinted glass awning and a large glowing sign above it that said The Bronze Peacock above in sculpted bronze with soft blue light from behind the extremely flourished and scripted letter, through the massive panes of glass you could see this labyrinth of whirling cogs, gears, flywheels, pendulums, chimes, swinging arms and all sorts of massive clockwork that was probably the size of clockwork used in Big Ben. A thick line of spiral shaped topiary in white pots lined the front of the building and massive hanging curtains of ivy grew over the low, shallow corrugated metal roofs, glowing white sculptures marked the apexes of the roofs along the sides of a figure holding a massive sword shaped like a clock’s hand with a smaller version in their other hand, eyes blindfolded and dressed in sweeping robes, all in stark white marble, gold finials and decorations lined the seam of the roof and hanging glass wind chimes hung off the corners, strings of windsocks and all sorts of wind based décor hung along the edges of the roof. The entire building with all of its glass seemed to glow a soft purple tone. The taller section of the middle did have windows, but they were darkened and rom what I could see at the angle and distance were blocked by either tinting or thick drawn curtains, the clock face was functioning and softly ticked in time with the largest set of pendulums within the building.
As I walked a bit closer to the building, I felt this…heavy wave of what I could only describe as energy wash over me, my entire body seemed to be covered in flames, my heart seemed to thud in my chest and my head felt hazy and like I was drunk. I took a handful of steps back as I felt the same wave of energy lessen over me, I breathed deeply as I shook my head and sat down on a bench in the plaza. I rested my head in my hands as I breathed deeply at the…weirdness of that wave of energy washing over me, though it’s probably magic and not energy, but it felt like I was walking through this wall of static electricity. I steeled myself as I stood from the bench as I looked back towards the building as I wrung my hands in front of me as I looked towards that building, feeling the encroaching feeling of that static wave across my person making all of the hair on the back of my neck stand on end as I felt my heart start pounding in my chest again. As I got closer and closer to the building, that static wave got stronger and stronger till it felt like my boy would start twitching because of how intense the static feeling felt across my body.
I paused in front of the large glass doors before I paused as I realized…how weird this whole situation could be taken: seeing me just walk into a store and say that I am working with the magical police, and I just wanted to meet the magical person who is in charge of my home country. That could just be…it could be seen in a very bad way or almost like I felt like I needed to impose myself as just some random Seer who is now working with the magical police and I choose to spend the time to introduce myself to the person in charge of the country like I am anywhere close to as powerful as them or something. I moved my jacket cuff as I looked towards the watch I had on, it wasn’t anything special or expensive, it was just something I needed as a police officer and everything like that…I guess, I could lie that I just happened to be in the area and wanted a tune-up on my watch or was in the market for an upgrade, but…I don’t look like I could afford a watch from this place. Yet, despite all of my panic and apprehension about going in…there was this almost magnetic attraction that was pulling me towards the building.
