I like the word lovely
How it sounds on my tongue
It is both a nickname to those you hold dear
And an adjective to go with anything you say
What a lovely day
Thank you, lovely
It was a lovely party
You have a lovely voice
I like the word quiet
It's unassuming and plain
Where silent is demanding
And "shut up" is a pain
Quiet is a plea and instruction
It does not demand attention
The way silence sounds
And it rarely offends
When word is passed round
I like the word complex
Better than complicated
It implies the same idea,
But they're not at all the same
A sentence can be complex
And so can a person
Matters are often complex
And so is our world
Problems are complicated
They cause complications
In life and in medicine
Things get complicated
But they are still complex
So complicated can be complex
But complex isn't that complicated
I like the word bud
Because it's better than buddy
It sounds more at ease
And most people understand
I like the word anxious
Because it is complex
It can mean excited
Or a nervous wreck
I like the word flight
Because it rhymes with fight
And oftentimes can affect your life
I like the word language
Although I'm not sure how
It just seems so pretty
Yet so strange and foreign
I like the word chat
Because it nearly always means
That it'll be a short conversation
And then we'll move along
I like the word agile
Because it isn't rough
It has no sharp edges
But it's still very tough
I like the word word
Because it means expression
Because it means thought
Because without it, much would be lost.
