This sight. It captivated me.
Sitting at a table, under a poorly lit lamp. A boy, with mid-length light brown, tan-ish hair, reading a book. A small bandage on his right cheek, poorly covering a small wound. What book was he reading? He seemed so interested in it. I’ve never seen anyone so invested. Yet he was unaware of his surroundings. Unaware of my eyes looking at him. He looked so…
“Boring.”
“What?” said the lady who passed by me.
“Oh um, by any chance… do you work here?” I asked.
“Oh yes, of course, please just give me a moment to put these books away.”
I was looking for a magic item. My family and I collected magic items and locked them away in safety for people. Most people don’t know what magic items are because there rarely used. They give a certain power to who is currently hosting a magic item, but they’re dangerous for people's health, and theirs no limit to how many someone can use. My father asked me to grab a magic item that was recently found in this library. Usually, acquiring a magic item is more troublesome as there is usually someone who uses it, but this one is ownerless and is not much of a hassle. But the item must be disposed of before it acquires a user. The lady came back holding a clipboard with a couple of papers attached.
“So how can I help you?” she asked.
“I’m looking for a book, it’s called silent water.”
“Silent water,” she mumbled as she flipped through the pages on her clipboard. “That book was just bought by someone a couple of minutes ago. I’m very sorry sir. Please tell me if I can help you with anything else.” she said as she bowed slightly.
“Like it was checked out?” I asked.
“No sir, I’m sorry, We no longer have it.”
“Are you caple of telling me who bought it?”
“I believe it was that young man over there, but you might have to check in with the main desk to know for sure,” she stated as she pointed to the boy I saw earlier.
“Alright, thank you. I’m good now.”
I started walking over to him. He did in fact have the book. Although I found it weird that this was the book, he looked like he enjoyed so much.
