When the Weak Go Marching In Part 1
“Stand clear of the closing doors please.”
The subway jingle played and the wheels turned on the train. Unfortunately it was full so we had to stand, Celeste was nowhere to be seen thanks to the mass of people blocking him so it was just us three.
“Prim, keep an eye on your pockets. Can't get anything stolen”
Yuki had reasonable concern, I gripped the pole with my left hand and took out my phone to keep it in my right. No signal huh, how inconvenient. The city should complain about that. The train stopped once and the car cleared a bit, Gato grabbed a seat for herself leaving Yuki and I standing. I look for Celeste.
He's… gone?
I tried to alert Yuki but all of a sudden…
*cough cough*
I look behind me at the elder coughing… he doesn't stop.
*cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough*
Is he going to stop?
“Yuki what's wrong with-”
He puts his fists up. Such a stern look wiped his face as he continuously looked left to right to right to left, an occasional up and down. Gato looked less concerned but rather ready to kill, with her nails transformed into the claws of a cat but with the ferocity of a tiger. The old man began coughing blood as the train stopped and within 5 seconds after that, a repulsive stench left his mouth and body. Immediately after his body simply melted into nothing but blood, not even bone remained. It was gruesome and disgusting to watch and I looked on to see the panic on everyone's faces.
But there was none? Not even the passengers reacted, yet Celeste was still missing. I let go of the pole to try and move around minimally to see the reactions. Gato and Yuki were more alert than shocked, they didn't seem to care for the clear loss of life this train has witnessed. No it's not that they didn't care, they're just used to this. But why aren't any of the passengers even caring about this death? Can only the three of us see it?
Black out.
The darkness enveloped the entirety of the train, again no reaction from passengers nor Gato or Yuki.
“Gato.”
“Yeah Yuki?”
“What train did we get on?”
“I think F?”
“Did it say that on the side of the train?”
Hesitation.
“I don't remember.”
Brightness emerges as the darkness dissipates. The light lingers momentarily. I see a dark hunched over figure clad in black with bleeding eyes. But when the light lingered strangely I didn't see any people, poles, posters or seats. It was like one empty hallway with windows.
“This isn't good, Celeste seems to be gone too but we have to worry about ourselves for now.”
What kind of ability could this guy have that's attacking us? The things he's causing is impressive, how did they even know we were coming? The light flickers back on to show the hunched demonic being.
“How did they know we were coming?”
Gato half transformed bearing her claws and cat ears retorts,
“That's not a member of Purgatory.”
What?
“Then what is it?”
“These things are called Lost”
