It didn’t take long for me to arrive at the cave the next day.
I was checking on the map and the cave’s location was five minutes away from where I was. I was walking through the forest with a big stick in hand. It didn’t serve any purpose other than a plaything but it was good to have something to hold.
I was also carrying a sling bag on my shoulder. I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night, fearing that I was going to get killed. I was planning on having the summoned creatures guarding me in sleep but I didn’t want to waste energy doing so.
Plus, I had another weird idea last night that required a lot of mana being wasted. It began with the idea of how to store the meat so it wouldn’t rot.
I didn’t want to carry those bleeding meat around and have them attracting monsters. So, I opted for another option which was some sort of box.
I made a regular wooden box at first but then thought better of it. The main problem was rotting and the only way for fresh meat to stop rotting was by refrigeration.
It was clear that I didn’t get teleported along with my fridge in this world.
However, I had magic. More specifically, I had Elemental Magic.
Elemental Magic was something that almost everyone in this world possessed. It was because the ability itself didn’t serve any other purpose than being the source of spells and magic. Elemental Magic only provided the 20 elements to be used. However, the spells that came were something that everyone had to make and learn themselves.
For example, fire spear and fire chakram were weapon-type spells but their source was Fire Element. Since an element was needed to create a spell, it meant that one had to discover that element first but it would take a lot of energy and talent to do so.
That was why humans sometimes could only open two to three elements in their entire lives. Sometimes they couldn’t even master one. If I could meet a person who could control only one element and check their status, I would probably discover a lot of “INACCESSIBLE” on the rest of the elements.
I was forever grateful that Kannech managed to master almost all of the elements seeing as they were only marked with “ERROR”. I only had to re-learn everything.
Anyway, it took a lot of trials and errors but in the end, I managed to create a mini refrigerator that I could carry like a bag. Yep, I was intelligent enough to make myself a modern creation into this world of fantasy. The methods to get it working were hard.
I needed to access a few new elements. I had 19 accessible elements with only one being inaccessible due to my race as a monster species. I already knew about Venom Element so I tried to unlock it first.
It took a few tries but a simply acid ball was enough to get rid of the word “ERROR” on my screen. I only switched the spell “Fireball” with “Acid Ball” and it worked perfectly. Next, I focused on the refrigerator itself.
I thought to myself: “What’s the best material that can keep things cold for a long period of time?”
The answer was simple. Iron.
It was one of the elements that I’d yet to unlock. Metal Element, to be exact. At first, I was trying to make an actual block of metal but that didn’t work to unlock it. Next, I tried making a can of soda. That also didn’t work. I had a feeling that it was too complicated.
Finally, I decided on the most obvious answer from the beginning.
No, not a spoon.
Iron ore. The discovery of that ore was what lead to evolution in the first place. It was the same principle as my situation. I needed to re-learn all my abilities and what better way than to re-learn the source first?
It worked, of course. I was able to make an actual iron ore out of thin air. It took more than half an hour but that was a different pathetic story. After that, I played around with it.
I reshaped it into a bunch of things like a rod or a spoon.
That granted me a new skill called Metal Bending. The skill’s description told me that I could bend metal into any shape that I wanted. The skill also had an option to be “Evolved” or “Revised”. It was a good skill to have.
Next, I worked on another element. Ice.
Ice was almost impossible to unlock. I had to use my knowledge of science back from my world just to get it working. I knew for a fact that the more I spent time using them, the more it became a simple nature for me.
However, it was the first time I’d ever made ice out of thin air.
I read through the novel and searched everything about Ice Element. It proved to be a waste of time because most of them kept saying how the Ice Element wielder could only come from a noble family. They passed down the method on how to unlock it but even then, it only worked if the person had rich enough blood in them.
Well, how the fuck did Kannech even unlocked it in the first place? Novel logic?
Nevertheless, I kept on trying to make something out of ice. I wasn’t a smart person back in my world. I was a part-time catering worker that only worked two to three times a week. The pay was shit and I had to rely on my rich stepdad for the rent. I couldn’t even graduate high school before I dropped out.
But that didn’t stop me. I had the basic knowledge of science and that was enough to help me conjure up ice on the palm of my hand. It worked after hours of trying!
I thought that the only way to make ice was with water and lowering the temperature. The problem was, this forest didn’t have any sort of lake or damp surface. In the end, I had to unlock Water Element first.
Water was naturally all around us. Even so, I had to make it wetter around me. In the end, I managed to get rid of the error for Water Element by making the air around me felt humid.
It started to become foggy all around me and I got a new skill called “Nature’s Curse”. Since the name sounded flashy without trying to tell me the meaning immediately, I had to check my status for it.
NATURE’S CURSE
You are able to create a foggy environment all around you. Old legends believed a foggy area is a curse from the forest as it will dull senses and obstruct perception. A debuff-type ability. Will strengthen Ice Element. Able to be Revised and Evolved.
I rolled my eyes. Why didn’t it just name the skill as “Fog” or something? Flashy ability names irked me sometimes in video games.
The skill could be named “Rage of A Thousand Burning Suns” or something and its function was just dealing 1.2 seconds stun on a target. So dumb. Most of the time, the skill’s animation was just the character throwing a rock.
The fog helped to strengthen my Ice Element. That was interesting. All I had to do was unlocking it. Since the environment around me was humid enough to cause the fire in front of me to burn out, I tried channeling my power onto my palm.
Little by little, I imagined the surrounding temperature was getting lower and lower until, at some point, I felt something on my palm. When I looked over, a single snowball was made. I was exhilarated!
I threw the snowball somewhere before I practiced more. In the end, I accidentally made a part of the forest into winter with the snow all around.
I had almost full control on the element now. All I had to do was increasing the spell derived from Ice Element.
I had opened Metal Ice, Venom, and Water Element that night. My screen became something like this:
ELEMENTAL MAGIC
[ERROR] |
[Fire] |
[Venom] |
[CORRPUTED] |
[ERROR] |
[Ice] |
[ERROR] |
[CORRUPTED] |
[Earth] |
[Water] |
[Light (Inaccessible)] |
[ERROR] |
[Metal] |
[ERROR] |
[Nature] |
[Illusion (Rooted] |
[ERROR] |
[ERROR] |
[ERROR] |
[ERROR] |
Not much changes but they were more than enough since I was just here for one day.
I managed to make that mini-refrigerator. I made a box that was big enough to store the meat out of iron. I was somehow able to bend the iron into aluminum and made a box out of it. Aluminum was said to be the best type of metal that could keep things cold for longer.
After that, I put I covered the meat with snow. I also made the outer layer of the aluminum box to be wooden before finishing it off by creating a strap using Nature Element.
It became a sling bag mini-refrigerator.
I was satisfied with the result. It could be better but I needed to get to the cave before I made any improvisation.
Speaking of the cave, I arrived there shortly after.
