I woke up gasping for air in a cold sweat both Bain and Sparrow sitting in front of me with worried faces.
“ What's the wrong ma?” Sparrow asked in a quiet voice.
“ Nothing, it's ok baby, mama’s ok,” I whispered, still shaken up as I pulled Sparrow into a hug not knowing if it was for him or for me. I see Bain look at me skeptically but I just nod in a way to show him later. After that, we all fell back asleep. There's going to be a storm.
The next morning I get everyone's dishes made but I cannot shake the feeling that something bad is going to happen. Looking at the clear blue skies there is no sign of rain but I know there's going to be a storm today. I don't know why I know I just do. Then there's also that feeling, of someone watching me it's back again and it's so much more frequent since Alren left.
“ Ma, I'm leaving now!” Sparrow yelled.
“ Sweetie, please stay close to home today,” I yelled after him
“ Why?”
“ Just listen ok sweetie.”
“ Ok Mama,” he said before running off, Bain had already left earlier this morning. It was just me and my father's home, but I'm not going to try and bond with him today so it's pretty much just me. I decided to go down to the docks and clear my head, being in that house was suffocating. As I'm walking around the abandoned docks I sit in between me and Alrens spot, I wonder what he is doing when he is going to come home. I look down at the dagger. He has to come home right? Just then the dock below me cracked and opened leaving me to fall through with a startled Shrek.
As my head's underwater, I feel a tug on my leg. I look down to see a beautiful woman. She had long flowing hair and beautiful sea eyes, she looked so familiar. Mom? It's a mom! She’s here! But… she left me, why did you leave me? I started to hear a beautiful voice from the woman, the lullaby that she always sang to me. You're not a mom. In one motion I swung my dagger down and stabbed the woman leaving hurt to change into a monstrous-looking woman with fish scales and a tail along her body. The creature screamed as she rushed towards me dragging me down in the depths of the sea, I can’t breathe. As I'm stabbing away at the creature I feel myself becoming colder. Scream, scream Cornelia! With that, I screamed pushing the creature about a foot away from me giving me some time to try and swim up, she looks startled she looks around before attacking me once more digging her claws into my stomach and legs. Finally, she hits me with her tail and I feel a sharp sting in my chest. I look down to see a dagger-like quality on her tail sticking into my chest. Into my heart. I look back to see the siren's gaze. She looked at me as if she were still scared. What had I done, why? I started to sink down to the ocean but before my eyes closed I let out one final scream! I felt the ocean shake and the creature moved its talented hand to her ears as her eyes began to bleed. I felt a push and I was almost to the surface. Pulling myself up I feel rain pouring down from the sky, the clouds a deadly black and bright lightning striking down and hitting homes, shops creating nothing but destruction, the waves crashing into the docs slowly pulling them into the ocean leaving nothing behind, ships sinking. Homes crumbling to the ground. I see the creature slowly trying to get away, still clutching her ears below me, I feel nothing but hatred, I want her dead. And just like that lightning hit the girl killing her instantly, I felt it, I felt the lightning pass me and hit her, I felt her life disappear as her soul faded from her body. Slowly standing myself up I walked home, I walked through the destruction, I walked through the death and slowly the rain had turned a black inc. When I made it to my home I had felt nothing but anger, as I walked to my father's room he stared at me in fright.
“ Monster! Monster!” He yelled as the winds of the storm attacked our home shaking the walls.
“ Aren’t you happy Papa, look at the monster you have made! LOOK AT ME!” I screamed as the house starts to crack.
“ After everything, all of this, I can't remember my own name. But you- I know exactly who you are and I know what you have done! Because of that, I have realized it is not the death I love. No, I love the moment right before it. That's where you will suffer.” I seethed as lightning struck the house and hit my father exactly, but the lightning was not its brilliant white, it was dark, it was darkness. I saw my father's soul leave, after that everything went black.
