Andrew had to admit he was a tad nervous. Nathaniel had assured him that gaining supernatural abilities wouldn't hurt him, but Andrew didn't believe him. Honestly, Andrew was having a difficult time believing that any of this was real t all. The longer he thought about it the more crazy it sounded.
But then he could just go outside and hear people talking about how it had snowed in the middle of June. Something that was objectively impossible.
It was a bit amusing to think about. Andrew had struggled his entire life to believe there might've been a god. He would've never guessed he would have talked to one face to face. Or that their were multiple. Ruling multiple worlds.
Perhaps it was a good thing all these bad things happened. His life had clearly changed. He just wasn't sure if it had been changed for the better or worse.
Andrew jolted when a firm hand grabbed his shoulder. A man stood by him when he looked up, "Celaena says it's time for you to get your abilities."
"Now?"
The man nodded. "Follow me."
He turned and began walking away, and Andrew scrambled to follow him. "Wait-"
The man stopped and looked at him, "Yes?"
"We can keep going I just- I kinda want to know who my... coworkers are."
The man blinked, then smiled warmly, "Oh, you'll meet us all soon enough." He continued walking, "I am Zaizan. I'm from Eden."
"You mean-"
"Zaugus' world." Zaizan nodded, "Nathaniel, Lucina, and I are all from Eden."
"Is it really that bad?"
"We haven't been in Eden in centuries. Last time we were there, war and disease left hundreds of children on the streets, sick and starving and hundreds of people were being killed during witch hunts."
Andrew grimaced, "That's horrible. Do you think its gotten any better since you guys left?"
"I hope it has, but its unlikely." Zaizan stopped in front of a door and knocked.
The door opened and Zaizan gestured for Andrew to go inside.
Celaena was waiting for him, smoking out of her pipe again. The smoke was gold and red now. She looked at him with a smile, "Are you ready?"
"Is it going to hurt?"
"Of course not. You won't feel a thing."
Celaena stood up and gestured for Andrew to come closer. Celaena lifted her hands and held the sides of his face, "Have you enjoyed your stay in the hotel?"
Andrew swallowed, "It's nice. The food is good."
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."
Andrew nodded, "So... Eden."
"Yes?"
"When are we going?"
"You and the others will leave tomorrow. Lucina is making the portal now."
"Oh. That's quick."
"We have no time to waste." Celaena pulled her hands away, "It is done."
Andrew hesitated, "You- I didn't see you do anything."
"Souls are not something the human eye can see."
"You did something to my soul?"
"I altered it. You are the same person you were before. You are simply stronger than before."
"How so?"
Celaena smiled, "Open your eyes and you will know whenever someone is lying to you. Reach out, and you can touch anyone's mind. And you might want to wear gloves."
"Wha-Why?"
"I have given you clairvoyance."
"...What?"
"If you touch someone, you will be able to see into their memories."
"Oh."
Celaena pat his shoulder with a smile. "If you wish to pack anything, you should do so now. You have an early start tomorrow."
