The heat of the sun was suffocating but the shelter of the vegetation allowed to counter this heat wave that was so persistent. The birds sang despite their obvious lack of water and food. The animals remained at rest, lying under the trees or near the water spots to receive the air that blew there much more easily than in certain parts of the forest. Wildlife saved every useless move. The crunch of twigs, however, betrayed the activity of a moving predator, but nobody seemed to care. My footstep was light but the branches were so dry that everything broke under my wolf's weight.
I followed a track that was strangely familiar to me but that I couldn't put a name on. My Omega body allowed me to sneak into the bushes without any scratches. My walk was stopped when my gaze landed on a particular place, under a huge rock, a den was present. The den housed a white adult wolf of medium height with amber eyes and a litter of cubs who were gently fighting. Their coat varied from white to black as well as gray and red. The young animals, a few weeks old, took two or three steps out of the safe shelter of the den.
I couldn't help but stare at the blue eyes and the white color of the dress of one of the little cubs. His hair was like the snow and his eyes were identical to the blue of the ocean which was my eyes color. I had the impression to find myself a few years earlier in animal form. My contemplation was quickly interrupted by the agitation of the female wolf under the rock and a new crack arrived in front of me: a black wolf like the feathers of crows had just appeared in the clearing that surrounded that place full of life. I had no trouble recognizing him, a black coat, bloody red eyes and a sinister look stuck on his face. It could only be Raven.
The latter stared at me, threatening, which made me immediately react. My hairs bristled immediately, my white fangs were revealed by my rolled up lips, my delicate ears were folded on my head and my head was standing much higher. Apparently the Alpha didn't care about me which was a surprise. For some time now, I had become his favorite toy and the fact that he wasn't interested in me while I was alone and defenseless made me feel uncomfortable. Something bad was going to happen. He walked with a light and threatening step toward the den where the young wolf with blue eyes had walked dangerously close to observe this stranger.
Raven stopped walking a few inches from the mouth of the cub and I thought that the Alpha was going to jump on him but he didn't. He seemed hypnotized by his pupils. The mother rushed to meet the two wolves. The black wolf seemed to get out of his thoughts and all of his anger returned immediately. The adult female stationed herself in front of the little cub who took refuge with his siblings in the den. The little ones were all spying with anxiety and curiosity at the scene unfolding before their amazed eyes. Such a scene wasn't happening every day. Raven had recovered all his resources and now the two wolves circled around each other, seeking every opportunity to jump on the other one.
The Alpha showed, at times, some hesitation, as if he didn't dare to attack this wolf. A feeling of déjà vu went through me, I had the impression to relive a past moment, one of my memories. However, I had never been in this situation. I never had brothers and I had never been confronted with wolves before my change. I wanted to go between the two fur creatures but my paws prevented me from moving, I was paralyzed on the spot. I sensed that something serious was going to happen but that I simply couldn't do anything about it.
I was totally helpless. I had a presentiment that a drama was going to unfold in front of my eyes and that I was going to be the victim. At that moment, I was praying for Andy to come from nowhere to put an end to this event but the help I hoped for never came. A scream of horror came back to my ears, it was heartbreaking and horrible, my body was shaking and I wondered how I could still hold on my paws. In front of me, the mother was bleeding profusely, the bite caused by Raven on the back of the wolf looked deep. The red liquid ran down the white fur of the victim at a scary speed.
I understood her pain, I had already tasted his fangs once and that was enough for me. A small white flash caught my attention. The little white male had given a bite on the leg of the black wolf who looked like he didn't get hurt by it at all. After ejecting the maternal presence near a tree, he pushed the young assailant with a paw that sent him rolling in the dust. He sent a warning grunt to the cub who couldn't get up. He squeaked when his body hit the ground, probably not expecting to be pushed so hard. The mother didn't move and a pool of blood accumulated around her white fur.
Suddenly, no more sounds came from the den. My gaze went to the entrance from which emerged the black monster, his red pupils were looking at me. This color was similar to the liquid that flowed from his mouth as well as to the one who ran down the path that led to the den. My legs then took me a little closer and then stopped. A vision of horror then appeared to me. The cubs who were full of live moments earlier were now lying, stained with blood and emptied of all life. Raven had started walking again but this time it was in my direction and I was shaking with fear, my head was spinning.
Before I closed my eyes and waited for the blow to arrive, I could only hear that hateful and desperate growl of another wolf on my back. I didn't have the courage to turn around and face a second opponent. I didn't even have the strength to face the one in front of me. The waiting time was long, I felt nothing at all. All the sensations that surrounded me had disappeared, no more noises, no more presentiment of danger, just an impression of security. My wolf then took over, taking the initiative to make me open my eyes to face reality.
When I woke up, I was lying on the ground covered with some leaves of the forest, I straightened slightly to come face to face with black legs. My heart panicked and my tail went between my back legs while I curled up on myself, feeling scared. I looked up and my relief was visible when I was facing amber eyes and not red ones. The wolf was watching me worriedly as I licked one of my front legs, embarrassed to have reacted like that in front of him. Once my embarrassment dissipated, I got up, imitated by my comrade who, now, seemed amused.
"The nice little boy had a nightmare? He was waiting for his prince charming to wake him up to save him? Maybe I should have got you out of your sleep in this case." Roy began, mentally communicating.
"You play a dangerous game... You better hope Andy doesn't hear you, otherwise it might put you in a bad, very bad position." I replied, amused. "But at least you care about me and I appreciate that a lot."
To confirm what I was saying, I licked the dark skull of the male who seemed embarrassed but quickly found his usual words.
"Andy, Andy... We don't care, you can do very well by yourself after all. You don't need him." He said, passing his weight on his side of his body. "You deserve better than him but it's your choice even if I know that you haven't done it yet but I think Andy isn't fitted to be an Alpha." He answered in an amused voice, clearly joking.
"I didn't choose anything at all, Roy." I added, not without amusement. "And stop speaking about him like that, I don't think he will appreciate it."
"Andy is on patrol today. These days, he does it even at night." He said, stopping his moves. "He can't hear me, he's too far away..."
"Roy, when you have finished fooling yourself in front of Ethan, you may be able to finish your guard tour of the territory...." Lashed a newcomer. "You may be younger than us all but that's not why Andy will be more lenient with you. We all have been put back in our place at least once, you will not escape the rule."
"It's Michael the one who doesn't stop fighting with Thomas who gives me lessons? It's the world upside down." The man growled.
"Repeat a little, you brainless moron." Said Michael.
"Basically, I said you were no better than me." Said the black wolf.
"Oh but I'm a thousand times better than you, kid." Grumbled the gray animal.
"For my part, that's understandable. I'm young and you're older. But you're still more childish and stupid than me." Imitated Roy.
"Can the two of you stop... It looks like two kids bickering for sweets." I started, trying to calm them down.
"We didn't talk to you!" They answered at the same time.
"Oh, watch how you speak to me! It's not going well in your head or what? You are completely stupid oh my god..." I growled, rather irritated before being interrupted.
"You could be more discreet... But I must thank you for this charming meeting. Some voices have attracted my curiosity, I must admit." Continued the newcomer, looking at me. "Ethan... Your mother looked good, I'm surprised. I didn't think she would still be alive."
A growl escaped from the back of my throat, ordering him not to continue on this subject. I didn't see why he was talking about this and especially why my mother should be dead. Roy and Michael came to my side, protecting me from all sides.
"You better leave our territory Raven. You against three of us is a high risk, even if you are an Alpha. You won't win." Explained Michael showing his white fangs.
"Who told you that I was alone? It's a shame that the wind hides their presence..." The black wolf with red eyes began. "Sam, Deal, Castiel... Take care of these two there... The small one is mine."
"Three against two? What a fight but it doesn't surprise me, Raven." I growled while the three wolves opponents were appearing.
It didn't take any longer for the three opponents to jump on us. They tried to avoid me but that was without counting on my willingness to help my comrades. The dark brown wolf on Roy's back was ejected to the ground with a strong bite that I managed to do. The latter wanted to reply but changed his mind by fixing a point in my back. It took me a powerful shot in the ribs to understand that I had been violently thrown against the ground by Raven.
"My old friend is still a bastard. Dean, I'm going to smash you and take off your pretty little brown hair one after another when I'm done with this stupid Castiel." Roy launched, releasing his dark gray assailant.
"Come, I'm waiting for you in this case, little cub." Replied the brown wolf.
"That's enough Roy! Stop provoking everyone. We must go help Ethan. He's the one who is in the worst posture at the moment." Said Michael, heading to me after sending Sam to the carpet.
He was intercepted by Castiel who started a body to body fight with him as the dark red wolf stood up to get dangerously close to my friends. I gesticulated in all directions under the overwhelming weight of Raven who seemed to be having fun. He leaned one of his paws on my formerly injured shoulder before turning his mouth toward mine, an air of pure malice stuck on his face.
"Would you like it if I make you go to the hospital once again?" Asked me the Alpha in a threatening voice.
The panic came over me and, under the impulse, I suddenly turned my head to the side to bite the leg of the black wolf. By making this movement, I had hurt myself. I felt something move in my neck and now I had a hard time turning my face to the opposite side. For a thousandth of seconds, I had a presentiment of having already made this move on Raven but this thought evaporated quickly. As the wolf pulled back, I took the opportunity to try to contact the others.
"Andy, Lana, Sylvie, Thomas, Jack, Louis... Come quickly, please... We need help..." I said as if it would make them arrive faster.
"I'm on my way with Jack and Thomas... We have warned Andy, Louis and Sylvie who were on patrol at the forest borders, they will take longer but they will come to help you too." Lana said in my head.
I was relieved, help was on its way. I looked back at the Alpha who planted his fangs in my neck making me let out a howl of pain. He had just driven his sharp white fangs into my flesh, putting back in place, at the same time, what I had surely moved earlier. I was in pain, I felt the red liquid running down my white fur. Scarlet drops crashed to the ground, creating a small pool of blood. This situation brought me back to my dream. It reminded me of the mother wolf lying, bathed in her own blood.
I had to get out but I couldn't. I knew that if I made a move, I would risk aggravating my injury. His fangs were far too deep in my neck, I had to wait for him to let go, if he decided one day to do it. My wolf couldn't do anything himself. My Omega origins didn't work on him and he was much stronger and faster than I was.
