I pulled the drawstring bag over my shoulders double-checking to make sure everything was in place before jotting out the door. The door to the car unlocked with a light sound as I climbed in throwing my bag into the passenger seat. I had decided to attend a university close to my parent’s place, so I was still staying with them for the time being. Now, however… I was on my way to orientation since classes were to start the following week.
“Shit…” I cursed grinding my teeth together as I pushed the key into the ignition turning it until I heard a low rumble from the engine, “I took too long in the shower…”
. . .
“I’m here!” I ran up to one of the student volunteers, “I just… uh…” I panted trying to regain my breath.
“It’s fine!” The girl smiled as I approached, “You’re right on time! What’s your major?”
“I’m English Education,” I answered my breath finally returning to normal as she looked over the sheet in her hand.
“Alright.” She said still smiling politely, “Right this way!” The girl led me into the large gymnasium going past several rows of seats before coming to a stop near the back, “Go all the way to the right. Have a good day.”
“Right…” I hummed as I wriggled my way through the tight space between the chairs finally finding my way to the first open seat and plopping down with a sigh, “Damn it…” I whispered through my teeth as I rubbed a hand along the back of my neck, I forgot my bag in the car… This day isn’t going as planned…
“Hey, you’re also an English major then?” Why did I recognize that voice? “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Sully!” The brown-haired boy greeted me with a smile as I caught sight of him gaping slightly.
It was the one from the other day… “Hey, I’m Adrian…” What was his name…? Robin??? It’s the one that walked in on us. His new roommate, “Yeah, I’m English Education…”
“Ah, that’s interesting! I’ve never thought about going into education!” The boy smiled again swinging his feet back and forth in the chair like a little kid, “I’m a literature major.” He paused staring at me a moment as he stopped moving entirely, “Adrian, have I met you somewhere before? You look familiar…”
I suppose I do! “What there’s no way!” I laughed it off wishing he would stop staring at me for half a second, “You’re not from around here, right?”
“How could you tell?” The brown-haired boy asked me not getting the hint, “You must know me from somewhere…!”
“Your t-shirt…” I pointed as the boy suddenly looked down at himself, “That sport’s team is on the other side of the country.”
He suddenly turned red as he turned forward his grip tightening to the sides of the chair, “I remember where I’ve seen you before.” He muttered softly as his face continued growing redder and redder, “Sorry, for barging in like that…”
“Yeah, well, what’s done is done…” This sucks… Why do we have to be in the same group…?
“Seriously… What’s wrong with me?” He shook his head and placed a palm to his face. “Hah… Just nervous. Adrian, let me take you to coffee to apologize. I feel like such a damn idiot. Though you probably don’t want to see my face anymore, hm?”
I was going to agree, but free coffee sounds nice… “Why not? The coffee shop downtown? Sully nodded quickly in agreement. He’s not bad-looking either. Maybe we could…
