After her parents left Nora tossed and turned in bed, unsatisfied with her current situation. She huffed and sat up before grabbing her phone to call Destiny.
“Yellow,” Destiny greeted her.
“My moms totally ditched me again, after they promised me to my face they wouldn’t! Ugh!”
“Must be hard being a private investigator. I bet they work for like the president or something.”
“Yeah right,” Nora rolled her eyes.
“My mom says there is a storm coming in, a bad one. Maybe you should come over and stay with us.”
“Nah, I still got to find my perfect outfit to wow Ross.”
“You better send me a picture.”
“So like what should I say to him?” Nora turned over and laid on her stomach kicking her feet in the air.
“Say, Ross, I think your amazing and we should go to the dance together. Just be straightforward.”
“Ugh, I can’t do this. I’ll make a total fool of myself.”
“No way! You promised you wouldn’t flake. Come on Nora, you’ll never know if you never try.”
“I hate it when you’re right.”
Destiny giggled.
“Fine, let me take a shower. I’ll straighten my hair tonight that way I won’t have to worry about it in the morning.”
“Send me a picture of your outfit!”
“I will, bye.”
“Byeee”
Nora smirked before she hung up. Then she dragged herself out of bed before going through all her clothes. While she was doing it, she cleaned her room and threw in a load of laundry. Music playing in the background helped keep her motivated as she cleaned up. It wasn’t long before she was done with that and in the shower.
Outside the sky darkened and thunder rumbled the quiet town of Thorndale. Flashes of lightning would light up the house every few seconds.
Only a single town over the loud crashes of thunder were actually vampires fighting each other to the death. One side had as many as 30 vampires, along with several other supernatural creatures. Succubus flying in the air above the battle. Werewolves tackling vampires to the ground and sinking their jaws into them. Serpent-like demons grew into large snakes and wrapped around vampires. It was a sight never seen before.
On the other side were only about 15 vampires, although all were highly skilled and keeping up easily with the massive crowd. They were armed and ready. Fighting for what they truly believed in. Slayers joined them 10 to 20 slayers. Working with the smaller side to try and even the odds.
“Oh my god,” Rooney said as they pulled up to the battle.
Cops lingered around the mess, but most could not believe their eyes, unable to do anything but be on standby, sectioning off the vampires from the rest of the town.
“Well, this definitely qualifies as an emergency.” Joan said.
“Come on.” Rooney got out of the car and ran into the rain.
“Are you the specialist?” The cop asked.
“Yeah, thanks for calling us. Just stand back.” Rooney said.
Joan grabbed supplies out of the trunk of her car, tossing Rooney a cannon gun.
Joan herself grabbed some silver-plated brass knuckles and a whip.
They shared a quick look before running towards the battle.
Rooney pointed the cannon into the sky and fired it with a loud boom, spraying silver dust everywhere.
The screams and hisses of vampires being sprayed with silver quickly filled the air.
“Clear the area, only warning!” Joan grabbed the police officer’s megaphone to announce.
She dropped it to the ground before looking at Rooney who loaded up another shot and once again fired it into the sky. Rooney then dropped the gun and Joan tossed her the whip.
“Retreat!” Someone shouted.
Many vampires and demons fled the area but some lingered.
A loud boom drew Joan’s attention as she watched a vampire skid in the water on the ground, crashing into a police car.
“Rebecca!” Lyssa called.
A vampire gabbed Bex off the ground and lifted her into the air. Lyssa was fighting off two different vampires, unable to go to her aid.
“This ends here!” The man spat in Bex’s face.
Bex’s red eyes glared at him before she used the car to jump off and turn it around on him. Slamming him into the ground.
“Yes it does!” Bex screamed as she wrapped her hands around his throat.
A succubus wrapped its tale around Bex’s neck and lifted her into the air.
“Lyssa!” Vinny screamed as someone pinned Lyssa to the ground and broke her arm.
Joan and Rooney shared a look.
“I’ll get Rebecca you get Lyssa,” Rooney said.
Joan nodded and they split up running towards them.
Rooney used her whip to grab Bex’s leg and tugged hard on it causing the succubus to jerk down and nearly fall out of the sky. Bex grabbed the tail and squeezed with all her might causing the succubus to scream and drop Bex to the ground.
Joan punched a vampire hard in the face, knocking them silly before using a faith blast to send them flying.
“I said retreat!” A shrill voice called again.
The man attacking Bex hissed at her before running, the succubus flying after him. Soon only the slayers and the smaller group of vampires remained.
“Lyssa!” Bex ran over to her and helped her up.
Joan and Bex shared a look, one that didn’t exactly qualify as friendly and held some hostility.
Rooney walked over to the slayer leader and talked to him, convincing him to leave with all his slayers in tow.
“Argh, I’m fine Rebecca.” Lyssa forced out.
“Liar! I can feel your pain. Come on.” Bex picked Lyssa up in arms.
“Nice to see you guys too.” Joan snarked.
“Joan, not now. This isn’t over. We have to catch you up. Come on. Follow me to Lyssa’s old house.” Bex snapped at her.
Joan nodded.
Soon Bex took off, the rest of the pack following after her.
Joan walked over to the police.
“There, all cleaned up. I expect the payment by the morning. As for the media just call this some gang war.” Joan said.
“Thank you, thank you very much.”
Joan nodded before grabbing the cannon off the ground and walking over to the car and putting up their supplies. She and Rooney got in the car, soaked to the bone in rain.
“Well that was a thing,” Rooney ringed out her hair.
“We are too old for this.” Joan sighed before turning the car on.
“Rebecca and Lyssa look happy as ever.” Rooney snorted in amusement.
“Well let’s find out what this is all about. Maybe we might actually be able to get home before morning.” Joan pulled out and began the drive back to Thorndale.
“We should surprise Nora with something, so she won’t hate us,” Rooney said.
“She doesn’t hate us.”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
Joan rolled her eyes and turned the radio on to block out Rooney.
