The doorbell rang and rang again, ‘I hope she’s okay.’
“She’s not answering…” placing her hand over the door knob and with her gift, she tried to unlock it but that was when Clair, who just woken up and ran to the doorway.
She reaches out for the door knob but the moment she touched it, she retracts her hand back and shook her head, turning back around.
And as Wright heard those footsteps, “…Lydia …? You’re there, aren’t you? …Lydia, are you not going to school today…?”
Clair stops and quietly spun around, she mutters, “…No, not today…”
“So, you’re not going? Okay, I understand but let’s go together again. Okay…” While Clair’s stood still and waited for her to leave.
“See you next week…”
Clair could hear Wright’s footsteps slowly fading away, “…I don’t think we can go together again, Ellie… I became a maiden and I don’t want to get hurt because of me… Sorry…”
She returns back to her room, picking up the cookies Wright had made. Clasping them in her hands.
“I’m sorry… I want to go together again but right now… I can’t…” She sat down by the table and unwraps the cookies while a white dragon appears by her.
“Hmm… It’s sweet…” as she takes a bite and offers her daemon a cookie.
It was still the homeroom period, “Okay everyone, settle down. Today, you have a new classmate. Come in, Campbell.”
A fair looking girl with blond hair enters the classroom and stood in front, “Good morning everyone. My name is Gabriela Campbell. Pleasure to meet you all.” She bows her head ever so slightly while holding onto her skirt, like a princess.
“…Sorry. I mean, it’s nice to meet everyone.” She fumbled about for a second and tried to brush off her embarrassment with a smile.
The class when silence for a moment, then some quietly chuckled away while others were still in awe by her stunning display of beauty.
“Settle down, everyone. She just moved here so be nice to her. Okay then Campbell, why don’t you take a sit by Wright.” Who sat a seat away from the window, turned and looked at Campbell.
Their eyes met while Mrs Wallace briefly looked at both of them, “Yes, the one sitting near the window. Why don’t you take a sit there, Campbell?”
She turned back to Mrs Wallace, “Okay…” and makes her way to her sit.
“Pleasure to– nice to meet you.”
“…Nice to meet you too.”
Wright greeted her and was faintly reminded of someone else, ‘I hope she doing fine…’
“Achoo…” Clair, who’s still in bed.
Mrs Wallace gathers the worksheets on her desk and prepares to leave, “Make sure don’t cause any trouble and Campbell, if you have question or a problem. Don’t be shy to ask me and if I am not available you can ask Sofia or any of your other classmates. So then, see you next week.” She tried to wave the class goodbye but her hands were full, so she smiled and left while Jade Sofia, the class representative, turns to Campbell and nods.
When Mrs Wallace left the class and the next teacher, Mrs Faye, was already waiting outside.
“I heard your class has a new face.”
Mrs Faye looks around and spots an unfamiliar face, “So, you’re the transfer student I was told about.” She briefly glances at her, “If you have any problem, don’t be afraid to ask. Okay then, everyone let’s get class started.”
Thud.
As Campbell’s pen drops onto the floor, Wright reaches out and grabs hold of her pen.
“Campbell, here you go…” Passing it back to her, “Are you okay…?”
Her face was pale for a second more, “…Sorry, I’m fine. Thank you.” She grabs back her pen as the English class continued.
Worksheets were being pass along while Mrs Faye began to clear her desk.
“Don’t forget about the homework, its due next week and Wright, make sure you pass it to Clair. Okay?”
“Okay.” As she grabs an extra worksheet for herself.
Mrs Faye walks her way out the class but before she left, she calls for Campbell and brought her outside of the classroom.
“How has school been, Campbell?”
“It’s okay…”
Placing her hand on Campbell’s back, “Its lunch time, why don’t we have a little chat.” and as if her hands were ice cold, Campbell shivered and flinch away from her.
“I didn’t mean to scare you. So, let’s–”
As Wright came over, “Campbell…?”
“It looks like you’ve already made a friend, isn’t that good for you… Let’s continue this next time.” Mrs Faye left while Campbell was pale once more.
“Are you okay…?” Wright reaches out and tried hold grab hold of her shivering hands but Campbell stepped back.
“…Sorry… I’m fine.” She turned away and ran off while Wright gave chase but she soon loses her in the crowd of students leaving for lunch. She continues to search for her, asking around if anyone had seen a blond girl but no nobody did.
