I can hear noise coming from a short distance away. A crackling sound that was only loud enough to be heard very faintly. It caught my interest, making me walk faster down the dirt path. I reached the edge of a small village, where in the center area stood a bonfire that was lit on fire. The flames roared and the closer I got, the more I could feel the soft touch of heat in the air. Before I made any other decision to move closer to the center of the village, I looked at my surroundings. Simple stone buildings, nothing too special. They look old as though they have been here for a long time.
I decided to walk closer to the center. Everything seemed too quiet. A strange feeling came over me not long after I thought about how quiet it was. Where is everyone? Who built this bonfire, but most importantly who lit it? Looking more at the stone buildings and everything else, it seems to have all been abandoned. The question is why, but even more so, if no one is here; why the fire? I walked around the village to see if there were any signs of life or remnants of the past. The buildings were completely empty except for one strange thing that all of them had in common. A small campfire near the back walls in the right corners. They sat there while some of them looked freshly made and others showed signs of being burned. This means that someone must have used them at some point. But why build a big bonfire when they would have these small campfires ready.
Following the small paths around the village, I could see small plots of land used for small gardens. The gardens were empty as well although the dirt looks like it was recently dug up. Out of the desire of getting answers, I began to use my hands to dig at one of the spots. A scroll appeared under the layers of dirt. Removing it from its resting place, I opened it to see the message "DO NOT DIG" on it. I can assume that this was a warning maybe. I'm not too sure and I was not going to find out if I was right. I buried it where I found it and decided to dig at a few of the other garden spaces. I found similar messages. Something is going on here, I just know it but what could it be?
