A few moments later, he finally caught his silly self and coughed to hide his embarrassment.
[*ahem* Mmm... Let's… Let’s get down to business, shall we?]
He wanted to erase that moment in history! How shameful. His image… aiguoo (ノ_<。) His precious ‘cool’ image, his precious ‘cool’ ‘awesome’ image, shattered just like that… (-ω-、)
[*cough* Host, as you’ve accepted the contract, I will be your system, guiding you until the end of our contract. As your system, my job is to assist and be the gateway to each world for you. The power of choosing which world you will be sent to is determined by the Main System and will be assigned as the Main System sees fit.
Your job as a ‘Host’ is to enter these different worlds and complete the given tasks within each world. All tasks assigned will be in relation to the vessel you’re given.
There are three types of tasks that can be issued: the first is the ‘main tasks’. These are mandatory and must be completed, otherwise, Host will be penalized. The second type is ‘side missions’. These are optional and are an additional method of obtaining more points. Also, they will be given alongside the main task and don’t have any criteria needed to be met before being given.
The last type of task that Host might possibly encounter in the future are ‘hidden task’. This type of task rewards more points, but they come in an arrangement of difficulties and can be even more difficult than the main task. They will only show up if all of the prerequisites have been met.
A reminder, that although they may seem rewarding—‘hidden tasks’ are tricky as they are not all the same and won’t conform to the same rules as the main and side tasks. Failing to complete one may or may not have a penalty, it all depends on Host’s luck. Additionally, some hidden tasks will also be automatically be accepted without Host’s approval being needed as long as all the criteria have been met.
Once you have completed the mandatory tasks, you will be given a choice of whether or not you wish to remain in the world.
If you chose to stay, you can spend the remaining time as you wish to, so long as you don’t disrupt the natural flow of the world or cause any harm to the overall wellbeing of the world. On the other hand, if you want to leave, you are free to do so. The main system will generate a natural death scenario for your vessel and you will be able to leave after the vessel has reached its end.
If Host happens to receive a notification of failure, such as failing to complete the main tasks or even having the vessel die before completion of the quests, you will be penalized. If Host is unable to complete the mandatory tasks, it will result in automatic failure. However, there are other ways to receive failure: directly killing the protagonists of the world, disrupting the balance of the world, causing the end of a world, etc. All punishments will be given accordingly as judged by the Main System.
The punishments will vary in degree but, generally, the higher the difficulty, the heavier the punishment will be.
Next, Bao Bao will be explaining the point system and world system. Each task you complete will allot you with a certain amount of points in which you can use in the system store.
All worlds are graded and then given a classification from F to SSS. There’s a total of eleven levels of difficulty: F, being the weakest world. Naturally, meaning that you will gain the least amount of points. After completion, you will gain 75 points.
Next, comes E, giving you 250 points. Then, D, rewarding you with 7750 points. After is C, with a total of 1,250 points. Following after is B, with 1,750 points. Next is A, with 25,000 points. Then, AA, giving 75,000 points. Then it’s AAA, with 125,000 points. Followed by S, rewarding you with 175,000 points. Next is SS, with 250,000 points. And at the top is SSS, being the strongest of the worlds, you’ll gain the most amount of points; 500,000 points.
Based on the number of worlds you have completed, the harder the difficulty of each world will become. This is to create stability and avoid problems with overpowered hosts in the lower-grade worlds. Host must persevere and tread carefully in the higher-grade worlds as it will be more dangerous.]
Taking in a deep breath, he moved onto the next subject.
[As mentioned before, with the points you’ve earned, you are able to buy items from the system store. You can access the store at any moment, even inside of the worlds, and any item purchased can be used in any of the worlds; regardless if Host bought it in any of your previous worlds. Unless the restriction is mentioned in the description of the item or if the Will of the World had restricted it, they’re all usable.
Besides having restrictions, some items may have a limited amount of usage, disappearing after a certain number of times it’s been used. The store also has merchandise that will have debuffs. So, Host should read carefully when buying as there are no refunds.]
"...Any world…?"
Bao Bao was excited that his host was finally intrigued. He laughed gleefully inside at how smart he made himself sound to get this wooden block to speak. (ノ'ヮ')ノ*:・゚✧
If Bao Bao had a face, he would have his nose pointed so high it would be between God's butt cheeks. He would also earn the title 'bobblehead', for nodding his head back and forth like a chicken pecking rice unable to stop.
It was just too bad that all one could see was a white furry ball swishing up and down…
[Yes, Host!]
Bao Bao happily waited for his host to continue. Unfortunately, the young man said nothing else after. Clearing his throat awkwardly, Bao Bao had to finish his discourse.
[There is one last matter. After you complete a world, if the mission has been successfully completed and once you have returned to this space, you will be given an option to learn a skill for free!]
The young man slightly nodded his head. “...”
[...] Aish, Bao Bao’s host is so boring. He doesn't want to talk to Bao Bao~~~
[Would the host like to have a look at the merchandise inside of the store or proceed with entering a world?]
The young man's clear voice rang out, "Store."
Bao Bao happily opened the store for his host. Everything else that he was supposed to mention flew away from his mind.
Bao Bao: Hehe. Insert smile.jpg.
A transparent screen popped up in front of the young man. His brows drew together but he wasn’t so surprised. Looking at the screen, it was filled with characters he was unfamiliar with. And although he was certain that he had never seen them before—without any difficulty—he could read them perfectly.
The young man took a glimpse at the white ball from the corner of his eye. Without a doubt, the reason why he was able to read this foreign language must be because of the contract he made with this upper being.
Recovering his line of sight, he focused his attention on the screen before him. On the left side, there was a rather thin column, listing out various categories on each tab. To the right of the larger screen, it showcased a selection of available merchandise within the store.
The young man scrolled through the digital emporium, reading the names and descriptions of each item. He made mental notes of what he would need to buy. There were no restrictions on any of the items he wanted and he only needed to have the listed amount to obtain it. This made it easier for him as he did not want to complete any additional objectives to get the item, nor be unable to use it where he wanted to.
Because he had an eidetic memory, he only needed to glance at the item and its descriptions once to remember every detail about it, even if he didn’t understand their usage. In less than ten minutes, he had scrolled over a million-plus item and rearranged them in his mind of which one was more beneficial for him.
Looking at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, which showed his balance, he saw that he currently had 0 points. He faintly frowned, this would take time. The number of worlds he needed to complete was going to be quite a lot. Even the most critical items would amount to tens of millions of points needed.
Bao Bao stared at his ever silent host, dumbfounded by the display of their lightning-speed navigation skills. In a second, he went through tens of pages. Another second flew by and even more pages were flipped through.
Bao Bao was astounded. He can't help but wonder what kind of 'monster' he stumbled upon. For some reason, he did not doubt his host’s ability and believed that he could actually read that fast. Only later on would Bao bao realize just what kind of ‘monster’ he had encountered.
