The magic of this world was something John hadn’t even thought about. John was quite a reader and had read a handful of fantasy novels as well, but all of them explained the source of magic to be from within. The word mana was thrown a lot to explain the ability.
But he soon found out that on Iscander, magic worked in a different way. The ring allowed him to gather the world’s energy and channel it outside. He could manifest anything out of it! Having read a couple of comic books in his undergraduate years to impress his peers, John straightaway thought about the hero that could use a green ring to make constructs of sorts.
The ring allowed John to channel all the elements of the world and he chose the dark and light element as his main attributes since all he could think at that time was Michael Jackson’s black and white. While singing that song, he practiced for an absurd amount of time to get used to this magic.
He got to know that he was called here by the planet itself, using, what can be roughly translated as the calling system in English, because of the cries of the people. And he is supposed to be the messiah of this world, a person who will bring salvation, peace and quiet to the lands of Iscander.
On the first week of his arrival, he met good natured people that helped and catered to him. As anyone does when teleported to another planet, he ate everything he put his eyes on. He also started adventuring out of the town of Aphelion. His grumpy and sad mood got alleviated when he started getting what he called “quests” for killing people, animals and monsters alike.
He started gaining popularity through his charming ways and steadily built an army of supporters. They named him the ‘first traveler’ being the first to travel the world portals.
Soon, he climbed upon his high horse and named himself Osiris. He then created his signature twin blades from mithril which he in all his glory named the “Abyss Lacerating Blades”. One white and the other black symbolizing his dark and light affinity and the Yin Yang.
His ego ran before him in every situation possible and yet he was loved by everyone wherever he went. His laidback attitude earned him a lot of nasty scars, the most noticeable was the one on his forehead and eyes. One of the ’quests’ given to him dictated him to assassinate a young general of the tyrant king’s army. The young general being a sword-master and half werewolf, used a single-handed sword and his claws. The general gouged his claws deep into John’s forehead and after that day, John vouched to train his body for the worst.
Osiris believed that he was meant to be the coolest among everyone present on the planet. He desperately tried to hide his bald spot for the same reason.
His comrades or as John called them “mostly slaves”, supported him in their utmost. They had figured out that John loved compliments and used to dish compliments for his eyes all the time. Osiris had a strong belief that “people who compliment you for what you look are the ones that stab you first”. This paranoia was deeply rooted in him since the first month of his travels when he encountered an adventurer’s party. Their leader was named [Baeheh Lazopour] or Baeh in English. John accompanied them for quite a while in their journey and compliments were thrown at him left, right and center. John noticed early on that these guys weren’t as docile as they seemed with all the voyeurism they displayed while killing monsters and animals.
