Two out of four of the gods spoke to the women who had told a tale not asked for. Standing up Mu Jun moved closer to Yue Long as he seemed to know who this person was. A thin white tail started to flick in quick movements.
“JieJie? Is that really you? JieJie where did you go in the cave?” Those white jade eyes turned to Mu Jun. A smile full of pure happiness had shown itself on Yue’s face.
“Xiao Mu you have become so big. Yet you are still such a child.” Yue Long had turned towards Mu Jun as he fallen to his knees in disbelief. He looked so distraught and relieved at the same time. Xue Xing looked up at Yue from where he sat, his light gray eyes were conveying his feelings already. His left hand was clenched tightly, drawing blood from his palm. Feeling the eyes of longing from the god of night, Yue Long got down from her window spot and place her hand on his head. Slowly she caressed Xue Xing to help calm the feelings in him. She knew why, but she also knew that the person he hopes for will be gone within time.
“For now, I will do this for Yue Long. She knows of me but does not and cannot hear who she was before. There is a reason. You see the last words of the Moon Spirit that day was ‘May you forever take my place as you watch and care for the mortals you wish to help. As together we form a ‘True god.’ If a Moon goddess or god dies a new one is born from a flower. Hopefully, they can be raised by the previous ones most trusted people. If not, they grow in the flower and are born from the flower.” Smiling Yue waved her hand and the flower appeared again. The black and sunrise red petal flower sat in her hand. Her voice started to falter a little. The petals broke apart and flew to the Lotus imprints on the four gods. Once it touches their wrist the petal changed the flower to a black outline.
“Why has this happened? What is going to happen? A True God? Why are you telling us this?” Xiu Feng was deep in thought only to question Yue Long once he snapped out of it. Taking her hand back Yue long placed it behind her back. She turned to the window and sighed lightly.
“I know little flame that you cannot trust
anyone. Yet who was the one to give you a place to sleep when you were injured.
Little Flame you have grown so well. You all have. It is a shame I will no
longer be able to talk like this to you all.” Yue Long looked back to everyone
who was staring at her.
“Why JieJie? Why can’t you continue talking with us? Please stay.” Mu Jun crawled quickly over to Yue Longs feet to grab them. He was begging Yue Long. No, he was begging for the person that possessed Yue Longs body to stay with him. The plea sounded like a little child who didn’t want their mother to leave. It was quite pitiful for a god who was considered a maker of kings. But he was so happy that he could talk to his JieJie again, so happy that he didn’t want to let her go. Yue Long’s hand clenched.
Silence engulfed the room. It made the room uncomfortable and seemed to regain that heavy pressure from before. It was a few moments when finally, Yue Long broke the silence. “We both know I cannot stay. With the last bit of my power, I have sealed your ascended power. From now on you four are just the Four Mountain Masters. For the time being YOU ALL are mortal and can die. There is a war coming again. The king of the Daemon’s is awake. It was my duty all those years ago to keep them away, But it looks like the sacrifice of my life and my child’s was not enough to keep the peace intact. I do not know what they look like but they are very powerful. They were made from the blood shed of thousands of years. It took the moon and the flower spirits thousands of years to cultivate into their forms. They were spirits that were untouched by the death and corruption of mortal beings. They were full of pure white spiritual power while the King of Daemon’s is pure demonic energy. A true god and a true daemon two things that should not be possible. But became to be.” Yue Long gave a strained laugh. Slowly she picked up some of her lose hair. The hair was starting to become black. The person in Yue Long had used to much power to have this conversation.
“How can you do this to us? We are gods it would not matter if you were a true god. There is only one that do such thing and that is the Heavenly Emperor.” Kung Zhong glared at Yue Long who was standing still. A soft smile as she turned to meet the gaze. The white hair slowly disappearing.
“I was to be the Heavenly Empress before the sacrifice of my life. Mu Jun, Xie Feng, Kung Zhong, Xue Xing please help her on her way. Yue is sweet and helps all she can. Which will undoubtedly get her into trouble. In time we will speak again, but for now I must go. I have used to much power.” Yue Long kneeled and rested her head on Xue Xing’s shoulder. “Remember this Yue is me and I am Yue. We are two half’s that will make a whole in time. Goodbye for now my dear.” Closing her eyes Yue Long had returned to her sleeping state. The white hair that was once there was now completely gone, covered by black ink now. Mu Jun who was kneeling gritted his teeth and growled angrily. He was upset that he couldn’t talk with his jiejie anymore.
“DAMN IT!!!” he yelled.
Quickly Mu Jun left the home and went into the forest to relive the anger inside. Kung Zhong was quiet and watched him leave, knowing he could not help calm the anger. Two were left standing now in the room. Two were sitting, only one was sleeping soundly.
The silence returned to the room. It was deafening as the forest had become silent and the water was gentle. The stary sky was back as the clouds faded away like a fleeting dream. The night had become eerily quiet and calm as the four inside said nothing. No one dared make a sound as now they could feel the immortality being sealed away. No longer gods they must realign themselves to a mortal’s mindset. A life they had not lived by in an awfully long time.
Xue Xing got up and proceeded to pick up Yue Long again. He laid her down on the floor to sleep comfortably. He placed his over coat upon her to keep Yue Long warm. Kung Zhong took the scroll that was still hovering and started to read it. Reading through his every word seemed to anger him more and more. Until he threw the scroll at Xue Xing in a fit of rage. “The things she said are not written in the scroll. This is information about the King of Daemons. And clues on finding the original flower spirit’s body. There are even more scratches around the edge of the paper. That women takes us as fools.” He stormed out of the building and stood on the porch instead of being in the same room as Yue Long.
A smile appeared on Xue Xings face as the smallest of them ran out like a little child. Reading through the scroll himself he did find that it was all about the King of Daemons and a single clue to fine the flower spirits true from.
“Thrown out to die is where one remains alive. For one cannot move even if thou wanted to. Born here thine must stay surrounded by children of one.” Xue Xing pondered as he spoke the lines.
“What does that mean Xue Xing?” Xiu Feng was staring at Yue Long. It seemed like he was suspicious of her in every way possible. Something was not sitting well with him about this girl that suddenly has the power of a goddess. Not only that but something else sealed their immortality away claiming to once to be in line for the Heavenly Empress. He stared with both curiosity and contempt.
“How would I know. These were made before we were even created. Just a guess but they seem to be created by the original Moon Goddess. The one who became the first True God.” Xue Xing continued to read the scroll thoroughly. A light smile was on his face as he read it. The scroll was incredibly detailed on the King of Daemons. From where it would show up to some of its habits living in its home. But never any detail on what it could look like. Yet the way it was written seemed as if the person was in love with the King of Daemons. The drawing on the edge of the paper seemed a bit familiar, But Xue Xing could not remember where he had seen it.
Peaking from behind the mountains were rays of sunlight and light pink glow. Giving the peaks of the mountains a halo of light. The trees stood tall around the lake. As if they were standing guard of the lake. Above the blue water were dozens of flowers that were blooming. Flower lake was a sight to behold during this time of day. As the lake was full of flowers that were only ment for the land and not to be grown in water. Against the mountains shadow the flower’s colors were bright and vibrant. All of them gave a very faint glow showing that they thrived on the spiritual power in air and ground. The sun rose without the need of Xiu Feng. Thus making him irritated even, as he could not do his own job.
“No…. Stop…. Get off…” were soft words of distress. Yue Long was having another nightmare. One that did not seem pleasant at all. She moved as if someone was on top of her and trying to force themselves upon her. The two watched the girl struggle in out of a unknown persons grip. “Please stop…… Help…. Xuan….” Yue was fighting and trying to her best to escape when Xue Xing decided to ease her suffering. Just placing a hand over her head seemed to calm her from the nightmare but Yue was covered in a cold sweat. Yue Long gripped the over coat tightly as she trembled in fear.
“What kinds of dreams can cause such a reaction in one’s sleep? Even I do not this stressed from a nightmare.” Xie Feng walked closer to the helpless girl on the floor. ‘There was no reason why one should be like this in their sleep.’ He thought to himself. He stood nearby and continued to watchover them. Making sure there was no other problem arose. The morning became afternoon when Yue Long jolted up words.
“Xuan?.....” She said this gently.
Then looked down to find the over coat on her. Confused she pulled it off, to fold it up nicely. Looking around Yue saw how her home was destroyed and two men that were asleep. She remembered part of the night before. Knowing she was about to cry Yue slapped her face to prevent it from tears falling.
Getting Up Yue found a third person on the porch. Who was leaning against the railing sleeping soundlessly. Thus, Yue picked him up and placed him inside on a bed. Quietly Yue Long started cleaning up her home from the damage and blood spilled on the floor. AS she was cleaning Yue noticed all her paintings, she had made for her betrothed were untouched and even bound in a book made from the very fabric Mimi would weave.
“When did you make this? You yelled at me for painting it when you go and make it a book. Mimi who did that to you?” Yue held the book of paintings tightly in her arms to bottle away the feelings. A growling stomach sound made Yue Long got up to cook. Making rice and vegetables that would be for the main dish. Today was a day she would not eat a meat with her meal because her father was not there to hunt anything. The smell of the spiced vegetables started to stir people awake as light “Mn” could be heard from the men
Taking a deep breath in Yue Long painted her own smile across her face and started placing bowls and tableware. “Master’s please come and eat. You must be hungry. Where is Master Jun?” Yue Longs voice was gentle, but there was a bit of a rasp as well. That was to be expected as she had cried for hours the previous night. Making some tea Yue placed the pot down and sat patiently for the three who just woke up. A painted smile on her face, her eyes a lifeless black and a trembling hand. They gathered at the table and began eating. They set aside some food for Master Jun.
“Yue Long what do you remember from last night?” A growl came from the door as Mu Jun walked through it with fresh blood covering his clothes. Taking a bite of the vegetables Yue put her chopsticks down and got up. Going into another room Yue came out with clean clothes for Mu Jun. Still with a painted smile Yue presented them to him.
“Please Master Jun take this change of clothes. My mother worked on these for a customer, but I think there is no reason for them to take them now.” Yue Long’s voice had become even softer as she talked. “Master Jun why are you so angry? I only remember asking for help and that is all.” Her voice seemed to strain a bit. A few coughs into her sleeve caused the anger to disappear from Mu Jun’s eyes. Concern filled them instead as he took the clothes and sat Yue back down. “Stay there. Ill go get changed.” He told Yue Long as he took the clothes. Mu Jun went to change quickly and sat down.
The masters stared at Yue Long. A concerned tiger. A scared bookworm. A curious flame. But the last was a broken star. They all stared at Yue as if she were a newly carved statue or even a monster that was just discovered.
Although Yue could feel the gazes of all the masters. It made her feel as if she were a monster in her own skin.
“How can I help the Masters?” She asked taking a sip of tea.
