In this moment Mimi saw an overlapping of two people. The one she had been raising and a person she use to serve under. Subconsciously Mimi had done Yue’s hair the same ways as the person she would serve. “Mimi don’t be so formal. We have been together for thousands of years.” The words echoed in her head as a hand reached out to Mimi. The pale hand was waiting for Mimi to take it. Tears were in Mimi’s eyes as she watched the scene in front of her.
“Moon Goddess?” Were small words uttered very lightly by Mimi as the tears finally fell from their thresh hold. A hand landed on Mimi’s shoulder almost breaking the imaged from her. But it was still there prevailing against her daughter.
“Mama? are you alright?” Yue voice was able to snap Mimi out of the memory. Quickly she wiped the tears away and smiled. “Oh, my dear I’m fine just remembering some fond memories from long ago.” Yue watched her mother as she went to her room. There was an uneasy feeling Yue could not shake off. Her stomach knotted and twisted in worry. Something horrid was coming, something dark and sinister was about to happen. Yue trusted her gut and honestly didn’t want to leave her mother alone tonight.
Quietly Yue walked out on to the porch. Strangely the air seemed to be hot and dry unlike the usual cold and airy. It felt like the sun dried the water in the air. Yue didn’t like it and her mood which was already dampened with doubt and a bit of anger was worsened. Yet she did her best to never show her family the worry.
“What is going to happen tonight? What is making me worry so much?” She asked herself. Clenching the wooden railing surrounding the house. A worried look in her eyes as she stared off into space. The color of the sky changed to a lavender past. Yue was to busy in her own thoughts to hear the heavy footsteps coming from the stairs. One would think the poor wood boards would give out from the weight of the foot, but it stayed so it could help others reach their destination.
“Wow My daughter in knew clothes. Even fighter clothes. They look well and….” Kuro looked closely at the girl standing in front of him. The sudden noise scared her a bit. Turning a bit Yue smiled as she seen her father who was towering over her.
“Welcome home father.” She said excitedly. But then it died down because Yue seen the look on his face. “……” A word was uttered by her father, but she couldn’t hear it at all it’s like the word itself was distorted. Slightly tilting her head Yue stared at him with confusion, but the soft smile didn’t falter.
“Eh? What did you say Father?” Yue released the wooden railing and fully turned to her father. “Nothing just go wait outside the front. I will be there in a moment okay I need to talk to your mother first.” He quickly threw Yue off the porch out of the entrance. Luckily Yue was able to land on her feet with out getting any dirt on her. But her anger flared up. “YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO THROW ME I CAN WALK CAN’T I!!!!!” She screamed at her father from the entrance. “You owe me extra money in my wallet!” She demanded from her father who nervously laughed and waved to Yue in understanding. Quietly she sat down on the cart and started meditating to calm herself down.
Quickly going through the doors Kuro looked at his wife who was already waiting for him in their room.
“How the fuck does she look like ManYue.”
These words hit a ice stone wall that Mimi had created with her eyes. The glare Kuro got was fierce and as sharp as a blade. He didn’t mind this at all as they were freaking out.
“I don’t know how she can look like her, but Mistress disappeared thousands of years ago we watched as she did. You do remember how our daughter came into this world right?” Mimi stood up and opened a closet next to her.
~Years ago,~
“Mimi haven’t you harvested enough of those things yet. They don’t hold Prayers like the ones in the fields.” Kuro’s voice rang from a small cottage next to the water.
“Are you done building our home yet? We can’t live in that little cottage for another hundred years. And I will continue to harvest for the sweet seeds and make them an offering to the Moon goddess anyways.” The black hair tied up with a white ribbon. Sleeves rolled up so they would not get wet. She was already knee deep in the water plucking flowers and seed pods from their stems. “A few more and I will make dinner.”
The air was fresh and clean. The lake was a deep blue color with a specking of different flowers on the surface of it. The ground started to shake making the water ripple around Mimi. The flowers that hadn’t bloomed yet were now blooming and giving off a soft glow. The sky that was sunny was now becoming clouded and gray. Slowly the water started glowing light blue. Different sizes of lotus and water lilies were growing in a ring around Mimi. From what Mimi could tell all of this was radiating immense spiritual power. The light glowing was pulsing gently. Almost like it was breathing.
“Get out of the water Mimi hurry!” This was a panicked cry from Kuro who got closer to the water but was flung back by another in a cloaked in black. Two horns protruded from its hood and two glowing white eyes stared at Mimi. The ground shook again as a large White bulb slowly rose from the water. The ripple made from it slowly reached Mimi who stood frozen in place. The reason the were next to a lake with lotus and water lilies were to be close to their beloved goddess that disappeared thousands of years ago. The Lotuses and water lilies were her flower that the prayers would store in. That was because the other gods believed that they were too mess and hard to deal with.
The bulb was bow fully out of the water allowing the green leaves to fall nicely around it. The gentle glow was beautiful, and it called out to Mimi. Heeding its call Mimi reached out and felt the white petals. They were soft and cozy. Like a soft pillow or a blanket made of silk. But the feeling of the spiritual power that came from inside.
“This is….” She couldn’t believe what she was feeling.
“Help her. She needs a push you know what to do Madam Mi.” The cold voice pierced through the air into Mimi’s ears.
“Black Dragon!” Kuro yelled it like it was an insult. Pointing his finger at him. “You dare appear here. After all you cause in the heavens. If it wasn’t for you She would have still been here. We still wonder where she went. It’s your fault she disappeared!” Kuro threw these poisonous words at the cloaked black dragon.
“Kuro Enough! He was not the reason. He was just like Mistress and wanted to stop the war.” Mimi’s fierce eyes had made Kuro grumble. She knew what the Black Dragon said was true. Taking a deep breath in she smiled. With all her might she channeled all the spiritual power into the petal. It took a few moments but then the bulb started shining brightly, only to burst with water.
Cradled in the middle was a small baby. Almost as white as the flower petals itself the baby moved. Showing that on its right arm was a dark mark swirling around it. A small smile formed on the cloaked one, as the mark looked like a dragon. Raising his hand, the black dragon held out a bracelet that was made of silver. A blue cord held it together. It flew to the child’s wrist and adjusted to its wrist. Allowing it the settle there and the spiritual power the baby was emitting had halted.
“One day that wont hold. She is safe with you. I am leaving. They will come for her one day, but it won’t be today.” The black dragon turned to leave through the forest. Mimi picked up the baby and turned quickly to the black dragon.
“Wait why do-” Were the word Mimi said as the black dragon eyes conveyed the pain he has been feeling. The agony of having no answers to why his beloved had left. The agony of being left alone. The pain of war going on inside of him. The despair of the battles that raged in his heart. The sight left Mimi frozen. “Please Mimi…. I am hers and she is mine. I will wait for her no matter how long it takes. Just take care of my beloved please. She will be the moon and I am the sky that’s behind her.” He left quickly after saying this. The pain could be heard in his voice, but he wouldn’t admit it to himself.
The sky cleared and the glow was no longer there amongst the lake. But the cry of a baby was echoing around them. The cry seemed to be full of sadness and longing for someone they did not know yet. It was a cry that the dragon heard as well and he could not turn back to comfort the one who cried.
~present~
“Yes I remember how our daughter was born from a Lotus flower. And I remember that vile beast saying he was helping her.”
“Earlier Yue was in a daze and seemed to be talking to herself as she went back and forth in the lake.” Mimi said this as she remembers earlier. The pale skinned girl walking out of the blue water resting on shore. But there was detached feeling from the world that Mimi felt from so far. So, she decided to walk closer to the child who was distracted by something. The closer Mimi got to Yue the more she could hear. From incoherent mumbling about a shadow to questions. Then in a voice that seemed like pain Yue had called out to someone that made Mimi’s blood run cold.
“She…. Called out….” Mimi could not say the words and visible started shaking. Her hands gripped her clothes. Kuro face darkened as his fists clenched tightly spiritual power was gathering tightly.
“Fucking Xuan Teng”
