“Shh you are okay. I am okay the gods are with us and I made sure you were not killed Min. You are probably my first friend. Just cry it out.” Yue did not have good people skills and was patting Min’s head lightly. Gently rubbing Min’s back, Yue let the girl cry everything out. While Min cried Yue stared up at the sky watching the moon. She started to gently rock back and forth as though Min was a baby. Time passed by as Yue soothed Min. The moon was high in the sky showing it was midnight. Something was off about the moon as Yue looked at it. There was something circling around the moon, a shade of black that almost blended with the dark sky.
The stars twinkled as the shadow moved like a snake gliding across water. Slipping between the star, so it could be barely visible to anyone. But to Yue Long she could see that there was something roaming the night sky. It seemed to be dancing a duo dance but was missing its partner. Yue could not help but shed a few tears as she watched the barely visible shadow dance alone.
“Min you are a strong girl and an incredibly beautiful one at that. Please stop crying my dear. No one died today and that Daemon was dragged away by a beast.” Getting min to look up Yue smiled big. “maybe the daemon made that beast angry. So, it came back to give it a piece of its mind.” Min looked at Yue with slight confusion then she covered her mouth. A few minutes go by as Min started laughing.
“That sounds so weird. Thank you for making me laugh. I think I am okay now.” Min stood up and helped Yue up from the ground.
“That’s good ill take you home it’s dangerous at night. As you have experienced already.” Yue had put her sword on her hip. Quietly they walked towards the village. Yue would help Min who was not use to the area of forest they were in. ‘I wonder how can Yue walk through without tripping?’ Min wonder in her mind as she had tripped three to four times as they walked.
“Be careful Min this place is a bit more uneven.” Yue held out her hand to Min who took it immediately so she would not fall.
“Yup got it. Hey, you have a sword, right?” Min asked as she saw Yue only had what seemed like a straight stick. A soft chuckle came from Yue as she pulled her sword out from its straight black sheath.
“Most think its just a stick and I cannot blame them. As this is my personal preference in a sword. Bianyuan is the borderline between the evil and you.” Yue Spun her sword before placing it back into its sheath. Min looked at the sick it was seamless and just looked like a wooden stick. Only at the top of the sword had the Bianyuan engraved at the top of it. It could be easily missed if one does not really look at the “Stick” properly.
“Really that’s amazing. I cannot believe there is a sword like this one. Can you do what the Ma sect do and…. Um mount it. I think that’s what is was.” Min looked puzzled at the words and moves her hand around wildly. Yue nodded to the question. With a smile Yue picked up Min and started to run again towards the village. Yue was able to run properly this time as there was medicine on her wound, and it was bandaged up. Yue was smiling the whole way as she now had a friend that seemed to truly like her. “Wait you can put me down what if your injury become agitated?” Min was trying to get down. But Yue refused to let her down.
“Jingyi Min close your eyes. You are not getting down.” Yue was walking forward as the look in her eyes changed. Jingyi Min looked at Yue and closed her eyes as she stopped struggling to get out of Yue’s arms. Yue started to walk faster and step in certain spots to not alert any of the things around. They were very quiet. But soon chattering started to fill the air with dark and crackling voices. They giggled and laugh, even plans could be heard from them. These things around Yue could be delt with easily but Yue did not know if she could keep Min safe from them. Thus, she did not attack any of them and chose to be very quiet while she moved. There were spots of shadows that were part of these creatures. But soon the air was becoming hotter causing Yue to stop to evaluate the area. To see if there was any other ghost or daemon that could cause this. There were no other ghosts or even a daemon that would be able to cause the surrounding area to become hotter. Suddenly all the shadow creatures burst ablaze in fire. Yue stepped back and spun around. “what?” She uttered out loud. She was completely confused. Was this a trick by the daemons or were the gods really protecting her. ‘What in heavens is going on?’ Yue thought to herself. But soon the fire seemed to grow hotter making Yue realize that if they stayed any longer that they might be roasted like a pig. Looking around the area Yue found an area to leave the middle of a fire field. Quickly taking it Yue got Min out of the fire and started running to the village.
“Where is your home Min?” Yue ran through the entrance and came to a skidding stop. Min turned her head up to Yue.
“Can I open my eyes now? She asked sheepishly now. Yue’s mind went blank and she mentally facepalmed herself.
“Yes, Yes, I apologize. You can open them now and relax we are out of the forest. Let me walk you home and then I will go home myself.” Yue smiled and had put min down. She was slightly embarrassed about the fact she forgot that Min’s eyes were closed. Min opened her eyes and gave Yue a hug, although this took Yue by surprise.
“No, you go home and rest now. We are back in the village. You are hurt and need to go home. I can manage myself from here.” Min let go of Yue and ran off towards the village inn. She was quick in leaving but Yue had followed her to the inn. Yue followed because she wanted to make sure that Min would be alright and so trouble would not find her new friend.
Untying her hair Yue had retied it in a different way so she would not be recognized by the Ma Sect. Quietly she sat inside the inn and looked around finding that Min had started to work. S bottle of fruit wine was set in front of her. It was the inn keeper who set the bottle down and sits down at the table.
“You never come to the village alone. What is the occasion tonight?” He smiled and poured the wine for Yue.
“I came to make sure my new friend will be alright. Its Min treat her well. Other than you and her now, I do not like anyone else. Thanks for the wine.” Yue took the cup and drank the wine in one gulp. “And it’s the night before a full moon. I have to prepare for the night terrors of mine.” Yue poured more wine in her cup.
“you have been having more dreams lately huh?” The Inn Keeper had gotten up quickly. Yue looked at him and closed her eyes.
“You have no idea.” Yue opened her eyes again but instead of the Inn Keeper it was a man with no eyes staring at her. Someone who had plagued her mind for several years now. She doesn’t know who he was, but he seems to be warning her or trying to get her away from something. But what disturbs Yue the most is the fact this man has no eyes and a sewn mouth. He could not speak but he wanted to tell her something. She stared at the Inn Keeper with a nervous look, which gave him a feeling of worry.
“Will you be okay?” the question was presented to Yue to help snap her out of the stare. A gentle smile appeared instead of the nervous stare.
“I will be fine as always. But It will be difficult as ive been called to the Ma sect for a meal or something of the sort.” Yue drank the wine and placed some money on the table. “Please keep it from Min that I was here to check on her.” Yue left quickly and quietly from the Inn. The Inn keeper took the money and placed it in a jar. It was a collection of money, but it only had a word on it.
“Oh, ill repay you for saving me all those years ago Yue.” Tapping the jar, he went back to work quickly.
Yue went home there was no trouble but visions of fire and people screaming was heard in her ears. Fighting was a way to keep it at bay, but she could not anymore right now. If she did her mother would beat her until she could not walk.
“ManYue…” a voice called out from the darkness. Yue spun around to find where the voice came from. But there was none who could. “MANYUE!” a scream echoed from her head. The scream was too loud for Yue herself to hold. Closing her eyes Yue crouched and waited for the screams to pass. Covering her ears Yue held her breath and waited. Minutes passed and then a couple of hours did. Then they got quiet she was able to get back up after the screams subsided. She used this time to quickly run the rest of the way home so she could be home when the next terror happens.
