Clouds speckled the night sky, letting the moon peaks into the world of mortals. The trees trembled under the wind that sang in anger. Yet this cold night did not matter to the young woman standing there. The candle light from the lantern barely illuminating her face. Her pale skin seemed to glow in the night beautifully as she watched the moon play a simple game of peak a boo. Smiling gently she stared at the sky. Yes, she smiled yet her eyes did not they seemed to cry out instead for help. They looked as if they were going to let out a tear any second, but they also gave the feeling that everything was going to be alright. Those big round eyes that looked like ink watched the trees dance, watched the moon play games. Underneath her left eye was a small crescent shaped beauty mark.
The night was cold and dark but with the upper part of her robe down she did not mind at all. There seemed to be a large mark on her right arm. It spiraled around from the inside of her palm to behind her shoulder. It looked as if a dragon had wrapped itself around her arm and settled there so she was its master. The eyes looking up at the sky had become glossy and her lips that were a light rosy pink had parted to let out a breath. The hot breath contrasted with the cold air creating a mist.
“I have never done this.” the voice was soft and gentle but seemed to carry. Her hands closed together.
“Please if there are any gods out there please listen to my prayer.” Her voice shook a little as the soft voice rolled out of her lips. It was so soft, but it carried past the clouds and up the levels of the heavens.
Past those clouds were the lower heavens then the mid-heavens and then finally the great heavens where the jade palace sat. The greater heavens is where the main gods that controlled the main points of life. The mid-heavens are where all the prayers are sent to grow and be chosen among the gods. Many Farming gods stayed in the mid-heavens to care for the delicate flowers. Yet in the Mid-heavens was a large lake and even small ponds in a few of the crossroads. No god knew why these ponds and water were there. A group of gods that were friends were there and had been conversing when a faint glow started coming from a pond nearby.
The innocent voice carried throughout the three heavens. It was soft, delicate but full of both power and heart. It would echo in every god’s head skipping the growth of a flower because it was a prayer for all gods not one flower could be chosen for the begging to all.
“My name is Yue Long. And I pray with all my heart and hope one of you can help me.” The gentle voice had started shaking. It was weak and sounded as if the person was going to start crying. “Please I beg you any of you. You can take anything from me just please give my family the life they deserve.”
The sweet and gentle voice of Yue continued, as the glow in the pond started to grow brighter and condense. The group of gods had noticed the powerful glow was forming a type of flower. One that has not been seen in the heavens in a very long time.
“Hey what flower is this Kung Zhong?” Asked a wild brown-haired man. He wore a half face white tiger mask that let his dark green eyes to pierce through. He turned to Kung Zhong who wore a black and silver robes. Flipping through some scrolls, he adjusted his round glasses and looked at the wild man in green and gold robes.
“Mu Jun I need a little more time and it needs to form a little more before I can figure that out.” He was looking through the scrolls in his hands to find the one about flowers. The soft voice continued but it started to break.
“I beg you all. Anyone of you please take all you want from me and help my family get out of difficultly. They have been through enough just to raise me as a proper young woman, but now I do not know what to do for them anymore. Just take what you want from me. Weather it’s my health, my soul, or even hand in marriage just take it and give them what they deserve. I have don’t need anything.” The trembling voice seemed to break and crack as Yue pored her heart into this prayer.
The glow in the pond water became black as the first prayer flower was created in the pond. The petals fell gently on the water’s surface letting light ripples extend on the water’s surface.
“Please I know this might be selfish of me, but please don’t let them suffer any more for me please thank you for listening to my prayer.” Yue’s voice quivered just lightly as she now felt relived in confining to the gods. This was when Kung Zhong found the right scroll and started reading through it. One of the other gods picked a petal from the water flower and stared into it. The black-haired girl with pale skin with her eyes closed. Tears had fallen down the girl’s face, she wiped them away with her hands that were still clasped together.
“She looks a bit familiar somehow. Xue Xing what do you think?” orange eyes looked towards a man wearing black robes speckled with twinkling stars. The light grey eyes watched the girl in the petal he had picked as the question was asked. “I see, she has caught your attention. Come we have to transition to the morning.” The man in orange and red robes that were embroidered with a phoenix on the back.
“Wait. Xiu Feng. This flower hasn’t appeared in a long time.” Kong Zhong stopped the orange eyed man from dragging the entranced Xue Xing away from the flower. Xiu Feng looked back to the other god.
“What do you mean? Kung whose flower is this then if it hasn’t been around for a long time then?” Xiu Feng walked over as he asked. Only for Mu Jun to step in the way. It was like a tiger protecting its cub from danger.
“Stop there Xiu Feng we both are curious, so let’s just listen.” Mu Jun had forced a smile towards Xiu Feng who was frowning at the idiot king.
“Id be a fool not to obey a king like you.” Xiu Feng mocked. This did not faze the one in the white mask ‘So original you stupid bird.’ Was a simple thought in Mu Jun’s head as he turned around to look at the scroll that Kung Zhong had read. It was a aged scroll and made from a paper that Kung Zhong had not recognized at all. “So, what does it say Kung?” Mu Jun wrapped his arm around the smaller bookworm.
There was a long pause as Kung Zhong read the scroll. His color slowly faded from his face as looked at the flower. “Quickly pick a petal and let us go. Something is going to happen. We can’t tell anyone we were here.” Kung Zhong had rolled the scroll up and picked a petal from the flower.
Mu Jun followed Kung Zhong’s instructions and picked a petal. With that they left the Mid-heavens going towards their homes in the Great heavens.
