"What a nightmare!" I yawned and stretched, rubbing my tired eyes. "But wow, what a great night's sleep!"
"Glad you slept well madam!" A young girl suddenly appeared, snapping me back to reality. I quickly snapped my head around, taking in my surroundings. This isn't my bed, or my room! "You have a big day planned for you, so we better get you some breakfast." She was quick and efficient, bringing in platters of eggs, fruit, and apple juice.
"Wow, how did you know I like my eggs scrambled?"
Her face twisted a bit with the question. "Erm, that's Queen Gwendyn's favorite so I just figured…" She trailed off.
The girl had to be no more than fifteen or sixteen years old, but something tells me she had been a maid for awhile. I couldn't tell much about her hair other than it was black and tucked back neatly in a bun. She wore an old fashioned maid's uniform, the skirt flowing just a little bit past her ankles, her heels just barely visible. I have no idea how she could walk around in heels all day, that must be painful. I guess she's used to it though. She had a pretty smile, but it didn't seem sincere, I wonder if anything was bothering her.
"No worries!" I faked a smile. "Thank you!"
She smiled slightly and went about her hustle and bustle picking up a dress and accessories. I munched away at my breakfast watching her swiftly move about the room.
I wonder the best escape route, I can't stay here. The whole queen and king thing just wasn't meant for me, but I also can't go back to my own world where I'm destined to die "Hey I didn't catch your name." I set down the fork after gobbling up the eggs.
She came to a halt. "How terribly rude of me." She suddenly bowed. "I am Lena, I'll be your personal maid from now on."
"Lena, do you know what a tv is?" I asked. I might go through withdrawals without video games.
"TV?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Ugh I knew they didn't have television, half the country probably doesn't even have power." I jumped to my feet.
"Oh!" She exclaimed in ah ha tone. "You meant Television sets. They have those where you come from? They are so hard to get ahold of here, shall I tell the king you would like one?"
"Hell yes!" I exclaimed, finally something I can look forward to.
"Oh!" She giggled excitedly. "Maybe if you're lucky we can find a twelve inch screen! I've heard those are spectacular."
"Wait a minute, wait a minute. Hold the phone! A twelve inch?! My TV at home is a sixty inch and I only paid like fifteen hundred for it."
"A sixty inch!" She gasped. "How is that possible?! It must take up a whole room! They didn't tell me you were so rich." She then looked skeptical. "Oh you're just joking right? I don't see how that's possible!" She giggled. "Hurry along now, King Lee is waiting."
"Well he can keep waiting." I responded, jumping out of bed. " Oh hell no I'm not wearing those heels." I started raising my voice a bit. "You can torture me but you'll never break my spirit." Luckily for me I was still in the clothes I wore when I got dropped in this nightmare. I took off sprinting out the door, and into a long hallway. I honestly had no idea where I was going or what I was going to do. As far as I know I'm stuck in this world with no way to get home, even if I did get home I'm doomed to die. But maybe I could find something here and start a life, it'd be a much more simple way of living, though I already miss video games, and what's up with these TV's?! Twelve inches? Are you kidding me?!
WHAM! I ran smack into someone with a hard, muscular chest and knocked him backward, knocking the wind out of us both. "Oof!"
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" An angry voice grumbled below me. I lay sprawled out on the King's chest. "If it didn't work the first time why try again?"
"You can't hold me here against my will! I'll find a way out!"
"Gwendalyn was never this rude and feisty, you should be more like her, after all you are her." The mood suddenly darkened. "You'll never replace her."
"I don't intend to." I turned my back to him. "I will find a way out. I honestly don't give a shit about you or your kingdom. Burn and die for all care."
"Fine I'll just send you back." He had no emotion in his tone.
"Finally, first smart thing you've said since I got here." The air was surrounded with tension, you could almost cut it with a butter knife it was so high strung.
"Heh. I didn't expect this level of difficulty from you." He crossed his arms. "I don't understand how your personality is so different."
A sudden thought popped into my head. I turned back around to face him. I could visibly see his anger and frustration written across his perfectly chiseled face like a book. "Let's make a deal." His eyebrow perked up curiously. "You let me stay in your world but leave me the hell alone if I can save Gwendalyn."
Suddenly he launched forward, pushed me up against the wall by the collar of my shirt. "I don't know who the hell you think you are, but you aren't shit, don't get so high and mighty."
Without hesitation I kicked him in the balls, effectively making him release me. "And I don't know who the hell you think you are laying your hands on me. I come from a world where women have rights so if you think I'm going to be some passive house wife then you better forget about this."
He moaned and groaned from the blow to his family jewels. "Fine, I accept your deal, you're of absolutely no use to us if Gwen is alive and healthy."
“It’s a deal then.”
