Ren opened the door to her bed chambers and greeted Anette, who was sitting on the cot in the center of the room. "Alright lovely, let's take a look at that shoulder of yours." Ren sat down right next to the maiden and instructed Anette to turn so her back was facing the Captain.
"It's not that bad, you don't have to-ah!" Ren gently pushed her palm on Anett's wounded shoulder.
"Not that bad huh?" The Captain said playfully, still keeping a compassionate tone in her voice. "I have some herbs I can rub on it to help you heal faster. They will also stop the pain a little." Ren stood up and then crouched a few feet away from the small bed, once again she opened another compartment in the floor. She pulled out two jars: in the first there was a green sand textured suave, in the second was an oily liquid that had a yellow brown look to it.
"You know to apply herbs?" Anette hesitated with her next questions, "Did, um, did your father teach you that as well?" She slightly turned her head toward Ren.
"No," she chuckled while she popped off the lid of the first jar and stuck her finger in the suave. "He was simply dreadful with medicine, he could barely dress a splinter!" Ren gave another laugh, this made Anette smile. "This might feel a bit strange at first." The Captain warned as she started to rub the suave little by little on the punctured shoulder.
Tingly feelings ran all over Anette's shoulder and arm. It was a numbing feeling. It felt as if her arm hadn't moved in a while and was just waking up. Soon the numbness turned into a soothing sensation, all Anette's arm muscles relaxed. "I feel it working already." The maiden sighed in relief.
"That's good. I just have to apply this oil and we'll be done." Ren took the second jar and once again popped off the top.
"Um, Ren?" Anette said thoughtfully.
"Yeah?" The captain started applying the oil.
"I really should tell you this..." Anette hesitated. "I really didn't mean to keep this from you. It's just that I still really, well, I um, wasn't sure if you could be trusted." she bit her lip nervously.
"Lovely, you alright?"
"Well," Anette took a breath. She knew she had to tell the truth, after all, Ren must not be a Siren Slayer. If she was, she would've tried to kill that cave siren instantly. "Do you know anything about, um, your father's killer?"
Ren froze.
"Why do you ask that?" She spoke slowly. She closed the jar and set it on the ground. "I - I'm finished lovely." She shook her head, snapping herself out of the state she was in.
"Ren." Anette turned around, facing the captain. "I'm serious. What do you know about your father's killer?"
"I," Ren looked at Anette with concern. "Nothing, I know nothing. I searched for years but still found nothing." She admitted with a crease in her brow.
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier Ren, but I heard something a long time ago from my, uh neighbors. The man who killed your father was from a small village in Redtown."
