As they were making their way towards the exit of the dead little town, they heard some commotion. A lot of zombie growling could be heard but also a lot of shouting, human shouting.
The girls were shocked not only by the sounds but also by how close they were.
"Oh no, the po...rtal has beeeeen breacheeeed!" Imboz exclaimed obviously panicking.
"I am sssorry, I ne...ed to go save my people, you'll be sssafe, after all, you are the huumans. Other humans will not hurt youu as long as you ma...ke it clearr you are human."Imboz said.
They looked at each other uncomfortably but just nodded their heads in response. Ali and Gala were terrified, but they didn't want to admit it, and they watched the zombie walk away from them as fast as he could.
Gala kept putting her hands over her ears because she couldn't stand all the growling and the sounds of slashing, tearing and dying.
"We need to get out of here," Ali said.
"But where should we go, we have no idea where we are or where to go?" Gala said.
Since Ali didn't have an answer for her they stood for a few seconds, their eyes wide from fear, jumping up at every little sound they heard.
Finally, they decided that just moving would be enough. They were thinking that every road had to lead somewhere, and they were right, but they didn't really like where that particular path led them.
Having no idea where they were going, they just kept on moving thinking that as long as they left the immediate are they would be okay.
Unfortunately for them, they were heading towards trouble, not away from it.
Unfamiliar as they were with their surroundings they ended up moving towards the woods hoping that they would find some cover there.
What they didn't know about the woods was the fact that the humans that invaded Slim actually came from there. Hurrying without paying attention to their surroundings, they suddenly felt a strange prickling sensation and a shiver ran down their bodies.
Suddenly, they were no longer in the woods but in a city that seemed abandoned and timeworn.
"Where are we?" Ali whispered, confusion and fear clearly written on her pale face.
"I think we made a huge mistake," Gala said quietly.
They were standing in the middle of the dilapidated city, but they still had a feeling as if they were being watched. It seemed impossible but still, they tried to move back the way they came from but there were no woods anywhere behind them, only the unfamiliar city.
"How is this possible? Are we still in Slim?" Ali asked.
"I don't think so. We are somewhere else, and we are in big trouble." Gala answered as her voice started shaking since the realization started sinking in.
"Do you remember what Imboz told us about portals?" She asked Ali.
"Yes, why?" Ali inquired.
Before Gala got a chance to answer the question, they heard a loud growl coming from the nearby building and that was when they saw them.
There were at least a dozen zombies coming from behind the buildings and slowly approaching them.
As they were slowly shuffling along with their lifeless eyes focused on the fresh meat, the girls were frozen in place by the sight in front of them.
The zombies were covered in blood and their clothes were dirty and ripped at places, some of them even seemed to miss some of their body parts. A finger here and there, a hand, a foot but that didn't seem to stop them from closing in on the terrified girls.
Finally, they shook their heads off and started slowly retreating, not knowing where they should go.
They made a silent agreement to head for an old building nearby that seemed to still be whole. It was uncertain if there were some zombies inside that building, but they had to get away from the imminent danger in front of them.
So, they started moving backwards as fast as they could without ever taking their eyes away from the zombies following them.
Ali was the first one to reach the front door of the old house and as she reached out behind her, she couldn't do anything but pray that the door wasn't locked. It was a sturdy looking door, and she had a feeling that they wouldn't be able to break in if it was locked.
Luckily, the door was unlocked and the girls stumbled in, still going backwards with a feeling of relief.
Their relief was short-lived.
The moment they closed the doors behind them and turned around with their backs against the door, they started screaming. They screamed very loudly when they saw that the house wasn't empty and that there were two huge zombies approaching them.
There were no weapons they could use, even if they knew how, so they tried to escape by running into the adjoining room.
That was a dining room and it had two huge windows on both sides. They started towards the windows not thinking about what awaited them outside.
They were too scared and confused to think about anything, so they just stumbled away from the zombies and towards their only escape, the windows.
Closing in on the windows, Ali failed to notice a stuffed toy discarded on the ground, and she fell over with a loud bang.
There wasn't enough time for her to get up, so she just scrambled away as fast as she could dragging herself against the floor.
She wasn't fast enough and one of the zombies grabbed her leg.
Ali hoped beyond hope that she would just die, she didn't want to become one of those things.
Gala was trying to get to her, to pull her away from the zombie, but Ali could see that it would be too late. It was clear that she wouldn't be able to reach her on time, and Ali prepared herself for the pain and death heading her way.
