“All aboard, UN Hiser taking off” the captain announced
I quickly flipped through my documents to make sure nothing was missing before take off. It was a pretty futile move though, hundreds of indistinguishable historical documents packed tight in a case, it was impossible to tell if one was missing.
Boom
The ship took off with a blast, rocking all the passengers. I quickly shut my briefcase to make sure that none of the papers would scatter. Relaxing, I looked out the window which provided an amazing view of the city. Tall skyscrapers and Megascape Complexes littered the urban conglomerate known as the “San Andreas Zone”, and you could see the most massive of trains weaving through the city. After only a few seconds, the vehicles eventually disappeared out of site, and the giant constructs looked merely like tiny sticks poking out of the ground. Eventually, the clouds completely blocked my view of the window.
“Exiting Atmosphere. Maria, please stay seated” the assistant AI on the screen in front of me stated
The thrusters of the ship got louder and louder, and I could see the other passengers holding onto their seatbelts. The clouds disappeared out of vision, and the void of space filled the view. The Earth became smaller and smaller as the ship launched into space, the muffled sounds of the thruster grew louder and louder with each passing second.
Bang
A sharp noise rattled the ship. The thrusters have reached maximum drive, and suddenly the Earth looked like the size of a penny, which was slowly shrinking. I drew the blinds to the cabin window, yawned, closed my eyes, and fell asleep to the monotone sound of the ship’s engine.
