Ugh, royals. This day is getting less interesting by the second. I’m already upset that I allowed myself to get captured, but what’s worse, I’m stuck with the brat and her whimpering. We’re locked in a room with her, and she is constantly yelling when she wants something.
“This isn’t some sort of castle, with servants and maids!! Can’t you see we’ve been captured?” seems to be something I frequently yell. But enough about the brat. The new girl, Calanta I think, is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. Not that she talks a lot, she’s just… mystérieuse, mysterious. She seems to know magic, but not like me, she's different. She said she could talk to spirits, but even I can’t do that without une grande quantité of effort, and I graduated top of the class.
She can’t do spells like I can, It’s like she has her own kind of magic, similar but different than mine. I don’t know whether to be impressed or scared. She doesn’t speak French, which is strange because most people around here at least know a little bit, and speaks something different. It's musical, like French, but… different. It sounds like something I would want to know. Which makes me wary of it. After joining le résistance, I’ve learned to be wary of things I don’t know.
But enough of that, I need to go shut up that bratty princesse. Sure, she’s pretty, I guess, but bleh! She’s a royal. The next time she asks someone to get her food, water, or anything else I’m going to go up there and gag her. And I’m dead serious. I know 37 different ways to gag someone, using just about anything. Like I said, I graduated top of my class. Suddenly some super tall guy walks in and glares at each of us in turn. The nerve! Who does he think he is that gives him the right to look down on us! I almost try to get up, but I remember I am bound before I can make a fool of myself. He pulls a piece of paper out his pocket, and glosses his eyes over it.
“The Medic, The Necromancer, and The Fighter. They’re all here. Wonderful.” The look he gives us makes it clear that it isn’t wonderful. I was sure I was The Fighter, but Necromancer! That is some high-level illegal magic. That must’ve been the girl who could speak to the dead. So...the medic? That princess must have some secret. But she looked as confused as I was, so maybe she is just stupide. All royals are. I sound biased, and maybe I am but I’ve been raised to hate Royals. The guard, or whatever, hands us all a badge.
“This will give you access to certain buildings, meals, and the Ship. The number on the badge corresponds to your room number. There will be people throughout the building that will guide you to your room. I know this is a lot to process, and I would imagine you have a ton of questions. However, they will all be answered at the orientation. I suggest you get a good night’s sleep and try not to let this overwhelm you.” With that, he walked out of the room, leaving the door open. Calanta is staring at her badge, looking oddly at ease. The princess sits up and sighs,
“Well what do we do now?” She asks. Obviously she doesn’t know anything.
“There’s only one thing we can do. Explore.”
