We pull up to the school and sit there debating whether we get out of the car or drive to California and live our lives out of an apartment and become a movie star, famous author, and fashion designer trio. We groan one last time for good measure and then climb out of the car and drag ourselves towards the main building. Makenzie struts towards the drama club actors and starts asking them about the drama schedule for the week and Brain retreats for the library to go hide till class starts. I walk towards my locker and open it to a flower-filled surprise that had a cut out saying “Prom?”. I look around the hallway and sure enough, there is Jason walking down the hall with his stupidly sweet smile.
“Hey Babe, how was your morning?” Jason comes over his smile growing ever so wider when I grab his shirt and kiss my favorite smile off.
“I’m guessing that’s a yes to my question then?” Jason pulls away from the kiss a bit breathless due to a little shock and I nod at him making him cheer. He picks me up and kisses me in front of anyone who wishes to look up from their phones. “Alright, I got to get to Trig before Miss. Scary comes into class.” I tell Jason as he puts me down smiling as he twirls a brown curl near his ear, something he always does when he drinks too much coffee.
“Ah yes, I’m guessing you forgot to do your homework again?” Mackenzie walks up behind me lightly punching me in the shoulder. “Don’t worry you can copy Brain’s work. You know he always gets A’s. I swear if it weren’t for him looking exactly like our dad I’d question if he was my real brother.”
“You can learn a thing or to from him Miss D grades” Jason quickly pipes up and Makenzie punches him in the arm.
“Come on, don't abuse my boyfriend, you know the rules. Anniversaries are off-limits.”
“I know I know I’ll let him live for now, but Jason if I were you I’d watch your ass.” Mackenzie glares at him as Jason laughs at her “threat” and we head our separate directions.
